There were 142 409s installed in full size chevrolets in 1961 not all were installed in ss models. But with the ss package in 1961 there were certain options required. One was that it had to have a w engine starting in 1962 it was strictly a trim package you could order impala ss with any engine. In those days ther were for the most part no option packages everythingvwas a la Corte. Some options were not allowed with other options that would normally be stated on the option list. The 1961 in this video is really nice thank you for your honesty about the engine date and bucket seats. A lot of the company records about what engines went into what body styles has been lost. I am 78 ivwas 15 in 1961 went to school next to largest chevy dealer in Houston Texas. Nearly drove those people crazy. Thanks for the memories !
How anyone could see this automobile and not automatically be a hot rod lover! Beautiful Jim. Beautiful! Thank you for the share. Danny you find the best rides! Wiping the drool.
I've had the privilege to see a lot of these cars when they were new. With the exception of a'53 Bel Air I owned back in the day I agree. This one is a beauty. Man, you have no idea the memories these videos bring back. I can't thank you enough.
@@williamheden6794 that’s what I’m doing it. To keep the memories of great automobiles alive. I wasn’t born in the 60’s, but somehow became passionate 😊

This Bubble Top is one of the finest hot rods I had the honour to feature, yet RUclips doesn’t show it to many people 🤷♂️

It’s a great build indeed. When Jim sent me couple of photos I immediately fell in love with it. Glad you enjoyed the story
Absolutely gorgeous car and loved the history of the 61 SS and the 409! I really enjoyed the video, thanks!

@@HotAmericanCars 😁Jim did a very good job of narrating the video Danny. That along with your production made it really fun and informative.
Nice!!!!!!!! 👍👍
The 409 has a unique sound compared to other engine designs. The combustion chamber in the block instead of the head has much to do with this.
