I had a '61 Impala SS back in the mid '70s. They are so rare (I've only seen 5 in my life) that I wrote Chevrolet to find out how many were built and they wrote me back and they didn't even know! I still have that letter. The 348 was the early '61 engine, while later that year, the 409 came out. Mine was the 348 version.
The chevy white in the side trim is not correct . It's too white. The factory would never have overspray that bad on the inside of the door. The color and code for the side trim would be Ermine White code 936 Ask me how I know? I had one brand new in 1961. The wheel covers are also not correct for 1961. This car is sporting 1962 tribar spinner wheel covers.

The 61 & 65 ss’s are arguably the best looking chevy’s ever built. This car is special , thanks for showing ❗️🇺🇸
Seat belts are there to keep EVERYONE safe!
Best year of the late great era1961
These are wheel covers....not just hub caps. Yes, there is a difference. And yes that console and shifter are correct for the '61s and '62s. ;-)
All I can say is WOW
SS also came with black wheels vs color matched wheels on non SS
Is this car considered to be a #5 car in the classic car prize book? A number #6 car would be a 1000. Point restoration? ????

Wow. What a survivor. Too bad it's that ugly red.
