@@Enver_445Yeah, just like the last part of the main game.
I mean why the hell is the Atreus simp section in Jotenhein 2 hours long while Ragnarok, the titular event, is merely half an hour long? Isn’t that ridiculous?
This game is isn’t bad, far from it, but damn did it disappoint in some areas. I’d give it a 7/10. It doesn’t deserve to be seen as a masterpiece, despite it being a really good game. Definitely the second best big release of 2022.

When it comes to Odin's soul being in Valhalla, it's probably not possible. His soul wasn't just trapped in a giant's marble, but the marble was full on *destroyed*. Odin's soul probably doesn't even *exist* anymore after Sindri smashed the marble.

    • @kingzen6969

Doesn’t Odin also say earlier in the game when talking to Atreus about the mask that there isnt a Valhalla for him? I’m pretty sure no Norse gods are in Valhalla, because if they were, would we have not seen Baldur during ragnarok as well? Or magni and modi (they’re demi gods so idk about those two)? I think it’s logical to assume that the DLC will be Kratos mastering himself and seeing truly if we can be the god he saw in the shrine at the end of the main story

    • @HarvestPeiskos2209
      @HarvestPeiskos2209 9 месяцев назад +11

@@kingzen6969 Yeah, it's why he was so steadfast to find answers to everything. He says that gods are looked to for guidance but can't find it themselves. And now since his soul's been destroyed, there's nothing *left* of his soul to go to valhalla. It like a Brok situation

Also Odin was motivated by the fear of not knowing what will happen to him after death. To just have him in Valhala would be underwhelming, we shouldn't know what happened.

In your Kratos analysis videos, you said one of the challenges Kratos will need to eventually face is learning how to be someone who isn't a father 24 7. With Atreus gone and off on his own adventures, Kratos may be going to Valhalla to test himself to see if he can truly be that type of person. That could justify making a rogue-like DLC for God of War in the first place. He needs to barrel through all the enemies he faced with Atreus on his own. Only when he'd completed such a task will he know within himself that he can achieve that future Fey drew out for him.

"Master Thyself" is the famous phrase inscribed upon the oracle at Delphi, within a temple of Apollo. this alongside the God of War 3 music returning in the trailer as well as Greco-Roman pillars and the cyclops are all good indicators we will be going back to Greece in some way, metaphorically or as a dream or something. Cannot wait!

The throne shown bears a resemblances to the thrones used by the council of Valkyries (Where you fought Sigrun in Midgard). It could be that the ice in Midgard is melting and this is where we enter Valhalla. Or since the Valkyries come from Valhalla maybe they have similar chairs? Though it could also be Odin's throne I figured he would have a wooden one akin to the great lodge since he like to appear unassuming.

Gorgons?) and a human warrior in Greek armor (likely some manner of Hoplite, maybe even a fellow Spartan) in the trailer. Well during the Battle in Asgard while Odin's war machines were destroying the realm gates to cut off allied reinforcements, Freya and the Shield Maidens(former Valkyries) also made an effort to cut off Valhalla from Asgard to stop the Einherjar from coming back again and again. I'm guessing it worked but Valhalla was still heavily affected by Asgard's destruction and the Shield Maidens might still be too busy with the aftermath of Ragnarok to do much about it. That and with Odin dead the "Worthy Souls" need a new purpose so maybe that's one of the reasons Kratos is there, figuring out just what to do with the place now that Ragnarok is over.

Personally I think it has less to do with what happened back in Greece and more to do with Calliope, Kratos' first daughter. You got an inkling of that at the end of GoW 3 in that Pandora kind of awakened Kratos to realize what he was doing was rather brutal, even if the Greek Pantheon deserved it. "Hope is what makes us strong. It is why we are here. It's what we fight with when all else is lost." I think that phrase alone has stuck with Kratos since he first left Greece, wounds like that most lesser men would have been dead already.

2:12 my first thought about that line was that they were at the Giant's Causeway, and that this was the introduction to Celtic/Gaelic Myth. As the terrain there fits, and Mimir, who we know is canonically from Scotland, would have known its location, but not much about it. I also thought that the statue seen at 4:03 was the Mórrígan, a Celtic deity Strongly associated with War.

whats up bro i just wanted to say that i have a very interesting theory about the dlc. If you go back to scene in the gow ragnorak were after atreus and kratos hugging each other. And then kratos opens the shrine behind the first one that he opened. you will see people bowing down to kratos. But what if it was actually in greek. Because if you look at the giant person on the right you will see on his face a helmet that only shows an eye that can see through. And who has only a one eye in greek myth: its cyclops. so i think he will build a hole entire empire or the people there in grece will and when kratos comes everyone will know him as the god savior because he killed all greek gods. SO yeah that was my theory about the dlc

There was one example of a god getting an afterlife of sorts. I don't know if this is still canon or if it was even canon to begin with but if you beat the original God of War on the highest difficulty, you were given a phone number (which still worked last time I checked) where Kratos congratulates you and gives you a private tour of Olympus. Here it is revealed that there is a secret chamber where the soul of Ares has been imprisoned and is being tormented.

gonna say not canon anymore, though it would be amusing.
this game seemed to retroactively explain why they seemed to vanish after death. mortals, while lacking power, can still retain themselves at death. immortals, like gods, titans, and likely other things, can't and lose themselves entirely. Why there is an afterlife for mortals but not immortals. they simply return.

I doubt Baldur, Thor or Odin would be in Valhalla. It's stated that the only souls invited into the hall are the ones that died in battle, and those three may have fought battles, but all died outside of battle, when all three of them have been defeated (Thor even surrendered seconds before his death).

Would be kinda wholesome/funny if the boat captain shows up yet again but Kratos rights that wrong somehow.

So Kratos want to Master his Pass so for his future he will be better then the mistakes of his Pass, likely fighting his biggest mistakes, in that case I think (Think meaning my Idea) the big Boss in this will be both Kratos first Family and Athena, people he never tried to kill and haunts him, likely fighting a ghostly Athena like we saw in God of War 2018 well the voices of his Family hinder and hurt Kratos Ability to fight, I think a Phantoms of Zues, Baldur, Heimdull, Ares and Deimos would also be interest though out the game.

That would be amazing really, although i would like if it was Flesh Athena haunting him or something like that haunting by crying or some shit or says to Kratos "you killed me Kratos, you killed me Kratos"
same goes with his family, the visions Kratos saw about his family "No father, no" etc. that we see in gow3's visions.

I am so excited about this! GOW is my favorite video game of all time, at first for the amazing graphics and the brutal kills, and now for the depth, the emotional intelligence and the addressing of past traumas. I feel this is such a good experience to witness for those of us overcoming traumas and is a DAMN GOOD model for healing and being a badass at the same time.

I dont think I would like his next adventure to be a return to Greece. I personally like the idea that there where survivors of the cataclysm, and they are now rebuilding their civilization, free from the grasp of the gods. This is my headcanon "happy ending" for the greeks. Kratos returning to make the greeks ONCE AGAIN follow the gods would ruin this happy ending for me.
If anything, I would like ATREUS to be the one going to Greece. Have him discover a side of his father he never knew, the absolute destruction his own kin, in his worst, brought to innocent people. Hell, make him learn of his half sister, Caliope, that Kratos NEVER told him about. I'll do you one better: have Caliope as a character, all grown up. She escaped the afterlife after the destruction of Hades, and returned to the surface, and had a new life. She's a god too btw, don't forget that!
Oh the interactions these half siblings could have!

I just finished 2018 for the first time- it was a masterpiece.
I’m halfway through ragnarok and thinking about quitting.
The dialogue is so bad. They hammer the same point over and over multiple times, kratos wines constantly about war being bad yet rejects odins peace deal and starts a war while whining war bad, and everyone talks like a teenager from New York. I thought I would never get past ironwood which was so irrelevant and unimersive. They should have just had an african goddess contact atreus to set up the next pantheon if they wanted it so badly. But agrboda talks like a youtuber and the romance is so forced and out of nowhere and the area adds nothing to the story apart from marble snake.
I just beat nihogg and while the fight itself was great, I ended up hating it because of how condescending freya was with constant berating ‘hints’ anytime you weren’t playing perfectly and distracting you which they do fir every puzzle or anytime you fail a block or dodge, it’s horrible.
What went wrong? How is this game so much worse than 2018?
Seriously, does it have different writers?

All these talks about Kratos' past. If they don't bring everything full circle and have Zeus play a role in this DLC it'll be a massive opportunity wasted. That's all I wanted from Ragnarok. They made implications to Zeus twice in 2018 and never revisited that plot-point or did anything with those moments. Zeus and the giant bird in Helheim never get mentioned again after appearing.

Odin’s soul has been destroyed… there is no afterlife of prospect of rebirth for him, he is dead and will never have an afterlife, which is what he deserves fittingly enough. Even if not for this, had he been killed by more conventional means I.e Kratos, Freya, or Atreus finish beating him to death whcih wouldn’t of been very difficult given Odin couldn’t even walk , after that beat down, or stab him ect, he still wouldn’t go to Valhalla as he existed before its creation, he even said “There’s no Valhalla for me”

one of the things that Kratos has never actually succeeded in is mastering his rage. yes he channels it into his spartan rages and lets it flow for strength in desperate times but he never lets his emotions flow properly and learn to control them. he always supresses himself, as the thing he fears most is himself. i think the best thing they could do for Kratos is for him to unleash his emotions but not be over taken by them. to let them fuel him. you cant say you have mastered yourself until you accept and use every part of yourself. and is something Kratos has never done. not entirely anyway.
