@@Adsper2000My problems with 3 is that it wasnt long enough and god's die with comical ease at times. Also Hercules was handled terribly,he literally has the same story with Kratos, they should have teamed up.
@@abdulazimnaushad Pretty sure there was reason to bring her up, she was cursed not to say Zeus's name and turned into a monster Kratos had to kill and the rage Kratos felt because of that.
@@TheShadowspear2 yeah but kratos killing her was a good thing. She needed to be freed from that. So thats probably why it wasnt in valhalla. He doesnt have any guilt associated with it. Rage? Yes. Guilt? No. My understanding of kratos leads me to believe he understands he did the right thing, no matter how bad it sucked. Kinda like how he was asked about his brother. And he said hed kill him again because he wanted to be god of war for every reason except the right one. Tyr applauds him for knowing the difference. Kratos' mom had no relation to the throne. So it didnt need to be reevaluated as part of his healing. He already knew he did the right thing, and it bares no weight on being god of war.
Damn this is one of the most unbiased tier list ive seen on youtube. I also would take valhalla and give it its own ranking cause the story in it its just so good. Bravo on the list bro
@@infernowsAh yes, I do remember that time in which Atreus went into Valhalla's ironwood version for like three hours. Classic Valhalla moment indeed.
The story is like a 9/10 for me as opposed to 2018 being a 10/10 story. But it felt like with ragnarok they improved what was an almost flawless game in every aspect (except the Atreus missions) and just added more content.
Actually am slightly disappointed in Ragnarok Not only on Atreus mission, final boss fight Thor, Odin.. I expect a final fights will be like GOW 3 kratos vs Zeus. I feel Santa Monica rushed very well especially in final missions 😢
Great list, however, I'd have to disagree with the Ragnarok ranking. I felt the same way the first time I played, but on a replay, I realized that many of the critics are a little unwarranted ngl. People mostly complain about the Iron Wood sequences with Atreus, but that part of the story is the most important for his character, with him finally being able to be a kid for once in his life. It is such a pivotal moment for him, and it puts him at a crossroads for which direction he wants to take his life from now on, which in turn leads to the direction of the rest of the game. I can see why people find it boring, but when looking at it from a bigger picture, I began to enjoy and appreciate it a lot more. Also with Freya's brother, I argue that his sacrificing himself was honestly the only way he could have gone out in any meaningful way. Finally, I do not think that the story had too many plot lines. Everyone had their own time and place, and it all summed up in the finale of Ragnarok. None were really overshadowed or underdeveloped. Overall, I do think the game is better than GoW4, but I can also see why people may disagree.
Nahhh the ironwood part become bore fest. The game is god of war not fetching and walking simulator quest. Also, there are so much cutscenes in ragnarok. If they lessen the part with atreus it would be better. They somehow wanted to turn this game into a movie.
I feel like Ragnarok was a step back from 2018 for the singular reason that they squeezed a trilogy into a duology and that meant they would have to speedrun story beats without much subtext, they even had the characters state their feelings out loud cause there wasn't enough time to let them flow naturally.
@@dylanhopkins5934 Most of the story outside of the first 3 hours and th last 3 hours was extremely rushed. It ft as if we where rushing through story beta after storybeat for the singular reason that this is a videogame and the story needs to have all the characters by the end in their places for Ragnarok, even if it didn't made any narrative sense. Also alot of parts took me out of the game especially how they where filmed, like characters popping behind props and stuff made me only think how the motion cap filming happened rather than these being real characters who made it to the battle. All in all Ragnarok as an event was likely the smallest scale even that happened in the entirety of gow franchise for the soul reason that the over the shoulder camera hid the sheer scale of it. The hydra fight from the first game felt bigger than Ragnarok.
@cloudshifter that's a very interesting perspective to compare it to the hydra fight in the first game and say it felt smaller. Don't know how you came to that conclusion in the slightest. Especially seeing as its likely the biggest if not second biggest in terms of scale. If you have a problem with the over the shoulder camera then I guess I can see why you dont like the game that much, although you dont seem to dislike 2018 which is interesting. But in terms of scale, ragnarok has objectively done some of the best in all of the franchise. The games story was not rushed for the most part either. It was pretty easy to follow and it made narrative sense. Its all there so im not sure what didnt make narrative sense to you. I'm not sure what you mean by the characters popping behind props though, so I can't speak on that. The game has a couple fair critiques but honestly most of the ones I've heard are nitpicky and don't even make sense. And the few critiques it does have get blown out of proportion when ultimately they didn't effect the game nearly as much as people make it out to seem.
According to the old lore Kratos wasnt even the God of War at the time. Even Aphrodite says he is no longer the God Of War and that was in later parts of the game,he didnt even have the soul of a god to use the Hyperion Gates His power in that game is due to the magical power ups as well as retaking the Blade back which according to the GoW2 novel only gave him his god strength back and not his god status and position. If he was the God Of War he would have the same abilities as Ares, which he somewhat showed in the opening of GoW2 as he descended from the skies in flames like Ares did to save Kratos life. Simply put the Norse games have a different definition of a God,they call any half breed with godly strength a god. Its more of an honorary title at this point. Kratos wasnt a god in GoW3,he was just the destroyer of the gods. A demigod with strength above the gods, the reason being all the amps and power ups he had. He was definitely not born a god like 2018 said,he was born almost mortal/superhuman and not even a full fledged demigod a status which he only achieved after Ares gave him power and trained him. Kratos only achieved ful god status after he buried his brother Deimos(he had only partly ascended after sitting on the throne in the end of GoW1) and until Zeus took his godhood away in GoW2
GOW3 is in my top 5 games of all time . The sheer SCALE and epic nature of the game is unmatched to this day ! Plus, considering it’s on PS3 and the game is over 10 years old … the graphics are insane !
I think the thing with Ragnarok is they have to tell the story through cutscenes and dialogue. Not to mention side quests are part of the story as well which help enhances the overview narrative imo. This is a problem since some people play these games differently. I’ll say 2018 has a better story but Ragnarok is the better game overall
I think the main problem with Ragnarok was definitely the story pacing, If their had been a second game focused on the years of 'Fimbulvetr/Fimbulwinter' the Norse Saga would have come out a lot stronger. Freya could have been a pursuing antagonist in the same way that Baldur was, the Raiders/Viken could have been her personal minions/warriors used against Kratos, which was hinted at, in the Codex in Ragnarok. I.e, she was directing/encouraging them to harass Kratos. Her identity remaining hidden, with Kratos thinking she was a Valkyrie sent by Odin, Freya donning her armoured full-body look like in her Ragnarok boss fight? This game could have been focused on preparing for Ragnarok, investigating/exploring Atreus's powers. Working with Brok and Sindri to reinforce Kratos's and Atreus's equipment which is weakening due to Fimbulvetr, showing the loss of some of the powers we has in 2018. Still using Tyr's Temple to visit some of the Other Realms, locations which could be revisited in Ragnarok of course. Doing new Trials of Muspheheim, exploring new parts of Jotunheim which start Atreus on learning the Giant Magic and collecting the first Giant Soul Stones? He could end up creating Jormungandr who stays in Jotunheim to grow in size til Ragnarok. And Kratos would be keeping tight-lipped about the Jotunheim prophecy. We could have also had a subplot involving Atreus raising the wolves that grow to pull their sled in Ragnarok. Maybe introduce some new antagonists, like some of the missing Aesir or Vanir gods? Edit: This theoretical game could also have had the hunt for Tyr tied into it, perhaps being the end goal of the game. Learning he's in Svartlheim by the end? Odin could lock down Realm travel like at the start of Ragnarok which pauses the pursuit until Ragnarok?
The sad thing is, ragnarok had such a great entrance with thor that i was dying to see him again but not too much focus was put on him until the midgame where you see him again, when the plot moves forward im invested but when nothing happens im bored as hell and skipping it until we meet thor again, i really feel like thor needed much more screen time especially being a mirror of kratos

Honestly… Ragnarock had the chance at giving the fans a glimpse of how brutal and rage filled Kratos is. I get that the character development had to be there for future story telling but we’re talking about Kratos here. Having him rage out and putting fear into everyone around him IS his staple. Having not single killed Odin was a let down. The fight was awesome though, seeing Atraus hit Odin when it was needed.. it all felt soft/hollywood when the game was completed. A lot going on, story/character development in this game. Valhalla was a GIFT! Enough said.
Agreed. Was really hoping he'd fucking go nuts on all the Norse Gods he faced. Like if he somehow thinks Atreus died or something. Didn't even kill Thor or Odin.
@@TheBlackAdder1964 You say that, like it wasn't a cannon event that happened. Kratos killing Heimdall WAS his old self coming through. Literally, if Kratos kept punching/slamming him into the ground it would've been nearly identical to Poseidon's death.
I think 2018 was a perfect game loved it Ragnarok was a tad bit disappointing to me because the actual act of ragnarok was really fast and my was expectations were too high for it and seeing how fast it went left me wanting more.
Valhalla was damn near perfect to me. Literally fixed every problem the main game had and added some very high effort fan service that also pushed the story forward, all for free. Shit is peak
Agreed with everything u said. I could not put 2018 and Ragnarok in the same tier even if its very close. That “I’ve got nothing more to hide” moment still gets me to this day, it was an insane moment. O r the first time u pick up the blades again, or the moment “im dangling from the hip of the bloody GHOST OF SPARTA!”. Its just an insanely perfect game. Only criticism i have is the first difficulty spike in GMGOW mode, rest is just perfection.
The biggest thing Ragnarok had going for it was its gameplay and how it refined 2018’s formula, with the story being unfortunately a bit less solid with the troubles it has from condensing what should have been two games into one. But that also is why I think Valhalla is such a great expansion because it is such a gameplay heavy expansion where the game’s strengths really came out brilliantly. Not to mention its good story/lore relevance and connection to Greece. Definitely agree with the verdict that it almost feels like its own separate experience that while smaller, feels more well put together than Ragnarok. I wouldn’t be surprised if by now, I have more hours put into it then the base game.
The only difference I would have made is switching tiers God of War 1 with 3. For me, the first game has a special place in my heart because that's where it all started. God of War 3 was incredibly indeed, but it focused solely on killing the gods of Olympus. It made you feel like Kratos had lost a bit depth as a character and was just a raging killing machine where in the first two games his actions had more meaning.
Facts!! The first one he was still sort of human and had emotion and you can tell farther in the game you get that he just start changing as a person, even on some cutscenes you can see he would have feelings of being unsure about doing certain F’d up things but now he just doesn’t gaf 😂
I just started playing God of War 4 for the first time (first game in the license that I played) and I immediately fell in love with the story and the artistic direction developed by the team. If all fiction/artistic creations were like that, I think no one would be bored anymore. (I set the difficulty to the maximum to better feel like the character... I feel like it's going to take me a little time before I see the ending...) + thanks for your tierlist
1st one deserves to be in top tier because of the best story from the trilogy imo, it does not leave on on a cliffhanger and the game is quite more difficult than the other 2 which makes the ending satifying knowing all you been through to reach that
Nahhh god of war 1 has some bs levels and platforming. I feel they added that to prolong the game which is unnecessary. The spinning pagoda with blades are annoying.
Sexy video dude.I feel you on that nostalgia that valhalla gave. I'd have the same rankings except I'd put ragnarok down one tier. Treating those two as separate entities seems right because theyre honestly COMPLETELY different in their storytelling quality.
@dylanhopkins5934 I'm not saying it's a terrible game. It's decent. It's just not as good as other entries. Like the lows of the game are way too low for me. The speed in which they wrapped up stuff with freya was kinda baffling. It took like 30 minutes to come back around after some platform dialogue, which is kinda boring ngl. Obviously, the ironwood section - dogwater, why tf would a GoW game make me pick up fruit for an hour, then make me get paint for the next hour. Then there's the actual ragnarok event, it isn't bad, but DAMN did it feel rushed it only lasts like 30 minutes, then we immediately defeat thor and Odin back-to-back. There are still things I really like, though. The combat got really good I won't lie, though the over the shoulder camera really screws you over sometimes. And I do like where they took kratos as a character.
@doot7427 yeah I don't know what to say. It sounds kinda like you had limited investment in the game. Most of it makes sense and while the Ironwoods section went a lil too long it was still a good part. It was only like 2% of the game at most tho so I don't see how it affects that much. The Freya section was good, and honestly if you found much of the dialogue and story in that section boring then I don't see why there's a complaint about it being too quick. It doesn't make any sense. Everything you mentioned didn't really affect the game that much tbh. 90% of it is still amazing and the highs are some of the best highs in the series.
@dylanhopkins5934 Idk man to me like 65-70% of it was solid. It's just a bunch of small things that I didn't like, like faye, I feel that her face/identity was revealed too soon. It would've been better to reveal her near the end or middle. Also, atreus being ridiculously annoying, yeah, some of it made sense story-wise, but damn he really is a punk sometimes. Just so yk I had like 4 or so runs of the story, 2 of them being 100% runs. The more I played it, the more I saw its flaws, and damn is there is quite a bit. End of the day, it's our own opinions. If you liked more of it then good for you, i just feel it could have been better.
0 brain take, GOW4/2018 is what the greek saga has been building upon and it executed it perfectly. The tragedy that is kratos story and character was built in the greek series and was used amazingly in GOW 2018 if you can't appreciate that journey then you simply cannot tell me you love god of war ONG
I loved God Of War (2018) and God Of War Ragnarok! They are both fantastic games! My favorite parts of the game are when Kratos and Freya are together trying to stop Odin along with Atreus. I also love the segment where Atreus meets Angrboda in Ironwood for the first time. He's expressing his interest in her in a big way and he also acts a little shy around her too but also tries to open himself up to her as the game goes on too. Angrboda does the same and she definitely likes Atreus an awful lot right from the beginning. It's absolutely incredible how their bond strengthens throughout the main story campaign in God Of War Ragnarok too. I also love how the bond between Kratos and Atreus grows stronger as well despite Atreus pushing his father away in the beginning of the game. Even though Kratos is against Atreus making reckless decisions he comes to realize by towards the end of the game how much Atreus has grown as a warrior.
cant belive gow betrayal isn't in this list smh nah but fr this is a good tierlist, personally i feel the same about the norse games and how they should have been a trilogy but to me valhalla is so good that it's almost feels like it is the third game so ehh is okay. Ascension i dont agree it was timing i just think with it came a lot of fear for the franchise just getting old, gow 3 was peak god of war and then ascension came and did some changes that weren't really needed they just felt like change for the sake of change which is why gow 2018 was so cool and refreshing to see. ascension is a good game but as a god of war it was pretty eh
I loved God Of War Ragnarok Valhalla as well! I thought it was absolutely amazing! The roguelike genre with this expansion is out of the park! I loved how the enemies would change with each run and how the realm of Valhalla offered you different choices each time too.
Thank you for articulating perfectly why Ragnarok felt a bit off to me - how it felt like a Marvel/Disney movie at times. They weren’t constant, thankfully. But those moments were a definitely a turn off for me.
When I was a kid, now I’m 21, I was shocked by the violence and gore of GOW3 , and I never cared for it (please read until the end) until I heard the 2018 game and I was like 16,and I actually liked the game but never watched the full game and never understood well the story so I moved on again. In 2019 I became a game dev and saw the importance of videogames in life and after Ragnarok came and improved it in every aspect of it’s predecessor, I actually read a good amount of lore and a quarter of my free time in 2023 and 2024 was dedicated to watch other people play, mostly Marz and Kastaclysm (I was just love to watch girls play this type of games because they admire and apreciate the little details in character models, environments and even story, and I apreciate everything) so…. , for at least 200 hours of God of War Ragnarok and 2018 combined and I also see those videos without commentary that have at least 15 hours with the full game so I can take my own conclusions. I didn’t buy the 2018 on PC because of the enemy variety but I’m considering on buying because of the story and I’m waiting for the pc port of Ragnarok and don’t have a PS5 because I have an expensive PC and I prefer that platform! I've also played every single GoW and have been a massive fan since the first game released and the only change id make to your rankings is that I would bump Ascension up a tier and have it be with Ghost of Sparta. It was weird going from GoW3 to Ascension and it did come out of nowhere but it did kind of make sense. GoW3 let us believe that the world was over so in my mind all that could even be made was a prequel. I also think the gameplay in Ascension was top notch. Great tier list.👍
I still remember i played The first God of war during the new year holidays on my younger brother modded ps2 in my parents house years ago and it hung after you get into the back of Kronos. I was so pissed. 😅 Anyway, good job on the video!!!
i grew up on the original god of war games and cant bring myself to remove gow2018 off my playstation even if i need the storage space and i replay gow3 yearly and am currently replaying gow2. this tier list is exactly how i wouldve made it too, every criticism are the exact same ones i have. banger video dude, glad to hear opinions about the game from someone whose clearly sunk a ton of hours into the series.
I actually thought the pacing for Ragnarok was amazing. Mostly because it was so good despite all the stuff they had to shove in it. I was so amazed at how good it was while still having so much go on. I think the only reason people consider it bad is because of Jotunheim and the end at Ragnarok. I personally liked the Jotunheim part because it gave us a chill break from the constant change of events to digest a little. It was a little too long of a break, though. The ending is where the pacing is messed up and rushed. We needed more time preparing for and during Ragnarok. The big battle also didn’t live up to the amazing buildup and hype throughout the game. The end after the battle was pretty much perfect, at least. So, really, I think it's just the ending that mostly ruined the pacing. Should have split Jotunheim and gave more to Ragnarok. Is this a fair assessment, or am I missing something?
@zooobunga Oh yes, I can tell you still love the game. I love it but admit that there were a few things that are disappointing. I think it's mostly those 2 parts that mess with the pacing. I found the rest of the pacing very good. I just wonder if my assessment of the pacing is accurate or if I am missing a bunch of other issues in the pacing that others have a problem with.
Nah I think you’re pretty on point plus there really is no right answer bc it’s all up to opinion you know. As long as you enjoyed the game that’s all that really matters which it sounds like you did and so did I.
@zooobunga Oh yes, I loved it. The final battle of Ragnarok does make me mad sometimes though. Only because the rest is just so good that it made that part so much more disappointing after the amazing buildup. Even though it's unlikely, I wish they would release a directors cut that fixes the final battle and adds crazy boss battles and set pieces. 😮💨
I think what killed the pacing was the reveal 1/3 into the game that Ragnarok was just the bad guys losing. We went from trying to prevent the end of the world to arguing whether of not we should press the instant win button (Gjallarhorn) over a cup of tea, all while Odin is trying to find a magic Mcguffin that we're given no compelling reason to care about.
I definitely agree with almost 100% of this list, but I think separating valhalla from ragnarok is a bit dumb. I get it, Valhalla was beautiful, and it was what ragnarok needed to feel full, but it is still in the ragnarok video game. That would be like someone separating any from software dlc from the main games or separating tlou left behind from tlou. I have personally never seen anyone split the dlc from main games when ranking. For me, valhalla is what pushed ragnarok above 2018. Btw it would have been cool to know your thoughts on GoW ascension multi-player. That mode single handedly pushed ascension over ghost of sparta and chains of olympus (gameplay wise) My favorite is GoW2 though, the set up for GoW3 was amazing
To be fair man uncharted 2 is a great game lol. God of war 2 is still my favorite in the series I'm beyond pumped for this remake or remaster for the older games that's going around. I'll never forget the my dad having to buy god of war 1. I got a gameinformer and god of war got a 10 out of 10 which was very very rare in that day. God tier game god tier series.
Interesting list...I think I maybe wrote about this in the Community section (or it might be in the videos I did for those games), but for me GOW2 was better than GOW3 overall because of a couple things. GOW3 had no NG+ and also that entire Hera green globe sequence, which was goofy at best. The Guitar Hero section wasn't great, either, nor was the flying up through the overly long chimney section...twice. I don't think there's really a bad GOW game per se, despite the many bad decisions that Ascension made repeatedly, but definitely those parts of GOW3 I found overly tedious.
@@peterh4049 He definitely does a lot right, even though I don't think any of the GOW titles are perfect. The first GOW was super-close and with a few minor tweaks, probably I would have chosen that one because it came out of nowhere at the time and given everything else out then, it was just breathtaking playing it for the first time.
ragnarok def took a step back with pacing and the story, but as a whole game, I think its much better, just the gameplay and bosses alone are consistently better, Thats why for me both 2018 and ragnarok are equal.
im in the minority that disagrees tbh. i think the lack of enemy variety in 2018 puts it down a peg for me and ragnorak did a much better job. story wise as someone who is very deep into the plot i understood everything that was going on so the story rlly hit for me.

Great list. The thing with Ragnarok is that it’s still an amazing game on its own - but when I start thinking how it’s potentially the last game with Kratos as the lead - it doesnt feel as satisfying as it should. Maybe I was expecting too much, or was expecting something different, but it’s just not on the same level as 2018.
I don’t think it’s the last with Kratos as the lead I think he’s got a good one or two more but they shouldn’t drag him out too long he needs to go out with a bang
I only disagree with Ragnarok, because it deserves to be on god tier, the games was a complete masterpiece along with the 2018 God of War, of course, both masterpieces
I completely agree with the list! Ragnarok had the better combat system actually i think but holyyy it had soo much puzzles to solve it was driving me nuts.. If they had an option like auto open all chests, collectibles and stuff like they did in valhalla id rank ragnarok higher. Only reason i never finished NG+ is because i dont wana go tru all the puzzles again
Most valid list of the gow games. Gow Ragnarök did everything better than 2018, except for the story telling imo. Also such an incredible Studio, no half baked games, not cut out content sold as dlc and the only dlc is actually free and offers so much.
As someone who played all of these games on the release date or maybe around the release month, I am sad to see the recent God of war games, turning out to be, matter of fact Ragnarok doesn’t even feel like a God of war Game to be honest
Exactly my tier list as well if ranked them. Good job. But in my opinion, not for the story but gameplay itself I still loved Ascension. The kills and using the different elements for your blades was amazing.
Gow 3 is definitely the best in the series. I was so hyped playing it on release night. I just don't feel that way about the newer games. I'm currently playing ragnarok on pc and it's cool yet I still prefer the older games.
GoW 2 still peak for me I played them all... GoW 2 just speaks volumes for me the amount of focus I had to do just to finish the hardest difficulty was sweaty and also the fun "challenge of the titans" version of bloody palace from DMC but with conditions. There was no reason to bring her up though right?
@@abdulazimnaushad Pretty sure there was reason to bring her up, she was cursed not to say Zeus's name and turned into a monster Kratos had to kill and the rage Kratos felt because of that.
@@TheShadowspear2 Yea, maybe its not really the big stuff but it is one of the reasons why Kratos hated Gods.

The Atreus missions lower the game by 2 points imo 8/10

I 100% see what you’re saying and don’t totally disagree it isn’t unreasonable to put it in god tier

Agreed
Literally this. It felt like 2018 was made for a trilogy and so the spacing and timing was right. Ragnarok wasn’t and it suffered for it.
What didn't flow naturally, and whats wrong with stating how you feel about something out loud?
Gow3 is a fukn masterpiece, when Kratos was the Real god of war.
According to the old lore Kratos wasnt even the God of War at the time.
Even Aphrodite says he is no longer the God Of War and that was in later parts of the game,he didnt even have the soul of a god to use the Hyperion Gates
His power in that game is due to the magical power ups as well as retaking the Blade back which according to the GoW2 novel only gave him his god strength back and not his god status and position.
@@newhybrid101he got his god hood back after he took back the blade from Zeus. Literally Gaia said that would happen in the beginning of gow 2

100%
That’s a super fair take and I don’t totally disagree at all
Wait whaaaat
Nah man I liked gowr story waaay more than 2018
I think the main problem with Ragnarok was definitely the story pacing, If their had been a second game focused on the years of 'Fimbulvetr/Fimbulwinter' the Norse Saga would have come out a lot stronger.
Problem with Ragnarok is the corner cutting and too much downtime moments.

Kratos gow 3 theme is something I can never forget

That phone number actually works.

Bro what?😂How is Ragnarok in Spartan tier? I don't get the hate for the game I swear.🤣

I just got one and made another god of war vid with it thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Perfect ranking 👌❤
🫡
Chain of Olympus should be on (spartan) and ascension on (death)
You can’t hate on Uncharted 2 tho that was a sick game
Yes it was
Great vid man
Appreciate that sirrr
I can't believe that number still works 😂
Frrr 😂
Great Video Bro keep it up!
Thank brother 🤝🤝
Goated list, good reasonings. I give this 4 Kratos/5
I still remember i played The first God of war during the new year holidays on my younger brother modded ps2 in my parents house years ago and it hung after you get into the back of Kronos. I was so pissed. 😅
Anyway, good job on the video!!!
Thanks brooo those games are so nostalgic man it’s amazing
holy shit I tried the phone number it actually works
Told youuuu lmfao
i grew up on the original god of war games and cant bring myself to remove gow2018 off my playstation even if i need the storage space and i replay gow3 yearly and am currently replaying gow2. this tier list is exactly how i wouldve made it too, every criticism are the exact same ones i have. banger video dude, glad to hear opinions about the game from someone whose clearly sunk a ton of hours into the series.
Ayyye appreciate that I’m glad you enjoyed it 🤝
1:god of war 2
2:god of war 2018
3:god of war 3
4:god of war Ragnarök
5:god of wat gos
I don't get it. Why would anyone place 2 above 3? 3 was the best in the whole franchise
this is basically my list except i would put chains of olympus one higher imo
Yeah definitely nothing wrong with that
I liked ghost of sparta a lot more than chains of Olympus tho
@@zoobungaa fair enough
Nah I see your points man respect for the record I still absolutely love ragnarok
0:50 everything you said is exactly how I feel about AC ODYSSEY, Origins & Valhalla
When i saw you put gow 2 in titan i knew immeaditly you would put gow 3 in god, so easy to read
Lmaooooo yeah it’s a hard decision
That is not a bad thing
I definitely agree with almost 100% of this list, but I think separating valhalla from ragnarok is a bit dumb. I get it, Valhalla was beautiful, and it was what ragnarok needed to feel full, but it is still in the ragnarok video game. That would be like someone separating any from software dlc from the main games or separating tlou left behind from tlou. I have personally never seen anyone split the dlc from main games when ranking. For me, valhalla is what pushed ragnarok above 2018. Btw it would have been cool to know your thoughts on GoW ascension multi-player. That mode single handedly pushed ascension over ghost of sparta and chains of olympus (gameplay wise)
My favorite is GoW2 though, the set up for GoW3 was amazing
Btw, awesome video man, liking and subscribing, hope you do more great reviews 👍🏼
Haha yeahhh I see your point for sure I just wanted to separate them to talk about them separately but I’m glad you enjoyed man
To be fair man uncharted 2 is a great game lol.
Uncharted is fiiire but maaaan let me get my god of war 3 😂
@@zoobungaaundcharted and gow are best anyway uncharted 4 is bad and god of war ascension and betrayal are bad
Is uncharted 4 bad? I kinda liked it
@@Lord_Kratos69 how in the world is uncharted 4 bad?
Yeah that’s a pretty wild take but to each their own looool
Interesting list...I think I maybe wrote about this in the Community section (or it might be in the videos I did for those games), but for me GOW2 was better than GOW3 overall because of a couple things. GOW3 had no NG+ and also that entire Hera green globe sequence, which was goofy at best. The Guitar Hero section wasn't great, either, nor was the flying up through the overly long chimney section...twice. I don't think there's really a bad GOW game per se, despite the many bad decisions that Ascension made repeatedly, but definitely those parts of GOW3 I found overly tedious.
I respect that a lot. 2 has a much cleaner story as well. 3 feels like speedrunning a checklist. I think Cory's direction is unmatched
I really miss the older games
i feel you
Your editing is so good 😂
appreciate that brooooo
ragnarok def took a step back with pacing and the story, but as a whole game, I think its much better, just the gameplay and bosses alone are consistently better, Thats why for me both 2018 and ragnarok are equal.
That’s fair brother
That phone number easter egg was so cool lol
Fr loool
Pretty much everyone agrees that
Ragnorok is Amazing but GoW 2018 is better
Sadly but Valhalla redeemed it for me
@@zoobungaa That’s very fair
Valhalla is a genuinely amazing DLC and the fact that it’s free is astonishing
im in the minority that disagrees tbh. i think the lack of enemy variety in 2018 puts it down a peg for me and ragnorak did a much better job. story wise as someone who is very deep into the plot i understood everything that was going on so the story rlly hit for me.
@@ghostyhype_btw4303 I honestly agree with you tho I really loved everything about ragnarok except the pacing bc some points did get a bit lack luster enemy variety is gow 2018 is probably the worst part of the game those damn trolls lmaooo
@@ghostyhype_btw4303 Honestly valid point
Gow 2018 definitely had an enemy problem and Ragnaroks story was better developed (pacing issues aside)
Thanks for this video! 10/10
Idc what anyone else says, this video is a massive L especially due to the irony that it comes from a God of War ‘fan’ apparently. GoW 2 and Ragnarok should have been S tier, that is sacrilege right there. F your opinion lol.
I’m not fan bc I put 2 games in one less tier than you 😂
@@zoobungaa Yes! Exactly! I’ll fight anyone who disagrees on those lol.
Respect lmaooo
No

only 62 subs? i thought youd have more by how good this video is
i appreciate that man 2024 we're on the come uppppp
Not put the man down but he has like 4 videos,he doesn't deserve more than he has.
You clearly don't like God of war because all of them will be in God rank. And it's obvious You wasn't playing games around the time. The ps2 and ps3 was popular
Bro is on to nothing 🤔
@@zoobungaa bruh imagine berating GoW: Ascension for the 'timing' of it when Ghost of Sparta was released right after GoW III...
also, how does Ascension not add to the overall story of GoW or Kratos since GoW is about Kratos...
@@zoobungaathose reasonings on Ascensions offering to the story that you gave is very mundane and very surface level that you make it seem that the offer is nothing but you're actually trying to explain it which is hilarious...
@@zoobungaaalso stop equating in context to associate 'Humanity' to something positive and what it means to be 'Human' when that's all propaganda BS to spread the narrative that Humans can just be ever-loving, noble etc. and something that is not deemed that way then gets labelled a 'monster' or 'inhuman' or 'abnormal' to means to differentiate as much as possible because Humans naturally hate or take issues with something that is deemed 'different' to the socially acceptable 'norms'
being a Human is many things, you don't go out labelling Chimpanzees for 'losing their Chimpanzeeness' for being violent and cannibalising one another when that's just a part of what's being a chimpanzee is which goes the same for Humans
What a non-comment
man i love gow 2018 and gow ragnarok
still play it both, depends on the mood lol
also, amazing list bro!
@zoobunga I definitely want one more game with Kratos. Let’s hope he/Santa Monica Studio still has it in him/them.
Still blown away by GoW3. Something about how optimized it was and how they handled the scenes. A must own for anyone with a PS3
tell me you played god of war 3 first in franchise without telling me you played god of war 3 first in franchise
I played 1 and 2 first maaaan
@@zoobungaa bro how tf you are putting gow 3 above the first 2 then
Should do a theory "whats next for the god of war series?"
Might just do that brotha I’m cooking a video rn thanks for your feedback 🤝
I only disagree with Ragnarok, because it deserves to be on god tier, the games was a complete masterpiece along with the 2018 God of War, of course, both masterpieces
I 100% see where you're coming from i dont totally disagree its close
I completely agree with the list! Ragnarok had the better combat system actually i think but holyyy it had soo much puzzles to solve it was driving me nuts.. If they had an option like auto open all chests, collectibles and stuff like they did in valhalla id rank ragnarok higher. Only reason i never finished NG+ is because i dont wana go tru all the puzzles again
i love your videos gang
Appreciate that alot brother I’m glad you’re enjoying them🤝
I agree with your list entirely fire list man.
Most valid list of the gow games.
Gow Ragnarök did everything better than 2018, except for the story telling imo.
Also such an incredible Studio, no half baked games, not cut out content sold as dlc and the only dlc is actually free and offers so much.
apreciate thaaaat and yeah i agree
As someone who played all of these games on the release date or maybe around the release month, I am sad to see the recent God of war games, turning out to be, matter of fact Ragnarok doesn’t even feel like a God of war Game to be honest
Exactly my tier list as well if ranked them. Good job. But in my opinion, not for the story but gameplay itself I still loved Ascension. The kills and using the different elements for your blades was amazing.
And the bosses were really good
@@zoobungaa For sure. Caster and Pollux was probably my favorite.
Gow 3 is definitely the best in the series. I was so hyped playing it on release night. I just don't feel that way about the newer games. I'm currently playing ragnarok on pc and it's cool yet I still prefer the older games.
god of war 2 is my favourite game in the series and i havent even played any of the greek saga games
GoW 2 still peak for me I played them all...
GoW 2 just speaks volumes for me the amount of focus I had to do just to finish the hardest difficulty was sweaty and also the fun "challenge of the titans" version of bloody palace from DMC but with conditions.
I like GoW3 fights but GoW2 pacing was better for me overall. GoW4 has issues with enemy variety but the combat is something I'll play everyday since I'm getting old. Valhalla is absolutely a love letter for the fans.
Hardest diff on 2 is crazy even 3 and 1
GOW 2 is amazing and my favorite. The epic gameplay and boss fights. Everyone needs to torture themselves beating that game on godmode
This is a perfect rating, well done. I was afraid you would put Ragnarök in God but you made the rational decision to put it below that.
My ranking..
1. GOW 2018
2. III
3. II
4. Ragnarok
5. Valhalla
6. Ghost of Sparta
7. Ascension
8. Chains of Olympus
9. I
The thing with god of war is they’re all amazing so whatever your order is I can get on board with it
