Ares: "I bet I can threaten Hephaestus." Athena: "I bet I can reason with Hephaestus." Aphrodite: "I bet I can charm Hephaestus." Dionysus: "...I bet that blacksmith is THIRSTY!"
Hephaestus has to be one the most tragic gods in the entire pantheon. Abandoned and crippled at birth for the simple crime of being ugly shows that Hera is more like her father than she ever dares to admit. Hephaestus's anger and rage are justified. Though I will say, he is a better being than me. I would never have been able to forgive her. Hephaestus is personally my favorite Olympian next to Hades.
Thank you for watching and commenting again Zachariah! Hephaestus has a very tragic tale, but is an incredible god - Hera is quite cruel. But gods live far longer than we do, what is twenty years in the face of millennia? I like to think Hephaestus had Hera work to regain his trust and then love over hundreds of years! But that isn't really mentioned in the old myths. - Lightbringer
You bring up amazing points. Humans are capable of holding grudges for years. But gods are eternal; truly immortal. I don't think any being, regardless of the crime, could hold on to such a grudge until the end of time. I certainly hope that Hephaestus, the greatest craftsman and artist amongst the gods, made her work for that forgiveness. Keep up the wonderful work, Lady Lightbringer, and give my best regards to Sir Baldermort and Lady Baldermort 🤠
More like Ouranos actually. He was disgusted by the appearance of the Cyclopes and the Hecantonchires that he imprisoned them deep in the Earth. Hera's father more of feared them for their raw destructive power.
This? The confrontation between mother and child? Given my own ups and downs with my family? It hit at the heart of me. Dionysius asking the most telling question even the goddess of Wisdom herself hadn't. 'Why didn't you make it kill her if you hate her so?' Because... for all my own hurt and heartache and feeling like there will never be a resolution where i am seen as having worth beyond what I can do or offer? That is still my family and I still love them. Beautifully rendered, the both of you.
Thank you for watching again my friend! Family is a complicated thing, and one that is not chosen. Some say family is above all, but it should not be that way if family is a detriment to oneself. For family must treat each other with kindness and respect, just as any human should treat another human. Hera was only forgiven when she admitted wrong doing, apologised, and worked to make it up to Hephaestus. But they have eternity to do so - gods and their immortal life spans! @livingmythology1405 I did very much so. Don't be too sorry though. I've got my aunt and grandmother and they more than make up for it, even if sometimes they annoy me to hell and back. XD
One of the oldest stories and truest stories, of willpower and acceptance. LB Baldy, thank you. Hephaestus story hits really close to home. Thus thank you oh greatest of story tellers.
"I fell on earth...injured and alone" "I walked all the way back home, laughing" "He asked me if I could ever forgive...I would not" "He placed a finger on my forehead and all ailments were taken from my body!" "I weighed heavy on my walking stick as we walked the hallways of Olympus" "She hugged me so tightly, and the fire that was burning inside me was smothered out...I felt calm, peace and finally at home"
Of all the gods in Greek mythology, Hephaestus must rank among the most tragic. Abandoned and disabled at birth because she was unattractive reveals more about Hera's father than she would want to acknowledge. It is reasonable for Hephaestus to be angry and furious. Still, compared to me, he is a superior human being. If she had hurt me, I could never have forgiven her. Outside of Hades, Hephaestus is the Olympian god I most admire
Forgiveness is not always for another person - and perhaps with eternity ahead, it may look very different. But Hephaestus did have a rough start and not the best marriage, at least he is appreciated by his family more than when he was born. He is a mighty god to admire! Good choice my friend :) - Lightbringer

Ares? The "Golden Son"? Zeus literally told Ares to his face that were he not Zeus' own son, he would have been thrown off Olympus and shunned by all the other gods of Olympus. I'd hardly call that a golden child.
Hephaestus’ perspective here. So yes, he would have said that about a son sent to him. Trying to be clever, you betray your inability to listen or emote. Context is all.
In the past year I’ve really loved learning about greek mythology. It’s fascinating and while there are a few creators I follow who make videos about greek mythology, yours are on another level and it’s so much more interesting hearing it this way. I think this is my favorite video, so far. I've always loved the tragic story of Hephaestus' origins, and you've given such a beautiful and detailed story. I also really enjoy seeing this whole thing from Hera's perspective. She's always portrayed as petty, arrogant, and spiteful, as queens can be, and I always enjoyed that about her character. But, in this story, it shows that she's not only capable of feeling shame and remorse, but also love. All-in-all, this was a wonderfully portrayed story, filled with drama and emotion.
Thank you so much - I wanted to come at the tale from a different angle and I’m so glad it has been loved and appreciated. I think Hera - although often petty, arrogant and spiteful - she is still feeling and capable of remorse and shame. The greek gods have always been more fascinating to me because they are all so very human. Capable of mistakes, and I f acting on pure emotion Thank you for listening and commenting - it’s wonderful to know people enjoy our work! - Lightbringer
Now I don’t feel as bad about Aphrodite’s affair, knowing she never loved him to begin with and she was just a bargaining chip for him. This narration is perfection from start to finish.
Thank you so much! Yeah it is pretty harsh when you look at the old mythos and realise - Zeus forced a goddess of love into a marriage without love! - Lightbringer
Fun fact. Hephaestus was thrown off the Olympus twice, according to some myths ar least. First time when he was born ugly and got deformed and crippled. Aphrodite being forced into an unwanted marriage, yet she was blamed for following the nature of her powers. Hephaestus knew she never loved him and after the divorce he cursed Harmonia. He wasn't better nore justified for cursing the goddes of harmony. He was so lucky Aphrodite didn't bare resentment for she could've truned the other gods against him and he would've ended alone and without love.
This makes no sense to me... i started a quest of finding the symbols in different actions, from genealogical ties & so... im still deeply curious n tired... was wondering what that throwing the little god means... symbolically... if there's such a meaning at all... ill try to read on that later...
Why? It’s a tiny channel with no money to pay anyone? You want a LOT for your FREE entertainment. Perhaps they could get George clooney and Morgan freeman to guest star? Duuhhhhhu
@@sleeplepeople7313 Geez dude I was not thinking they needed to pay anyone. The videos they put are fun and I was thinking on if they are going to use more than two voices for every god. Currently no - as we work to strict deadlines and it is just not viable cost wise We do all of it ourselves, in our tiny team of two! And at the rate and speed we work - its hard to ask for peoples time to fit into our schedules! All our friends and family have their own lives, and jobs and it takes a lot longer than you'd think haha! Zeus did not try to free Hera for one reason. Zeus is in charge of administering justice, so his condemnation of Hera and the punishment she received for her actions was "pure justice".

Living Mythology :) Please make a version with accurate CC for the hearing impaired (captions) I want to share your videos with my friend! But he can't hear, he's deaf, and the auto-generated CC is... well. They call him "Hes Fetus." I think my friend would really love your videos, especially this one! But we'd need a better way to transcribe, a method where anyone can read it as "Hephaestus"
Thank you for bringing this to our attention !
We have made the e first few videos more accurate me and are working on solutions to fix the other cc for the other videos and future videos !

I was wondering when we'd hear of the big H
We hope you enjoyed the video!
(His birth is also mentioned in the Hera video!)

Who would win?
-Three Olympian gods holding untold cosmic power
Or
-One party boy with some funny juice

Hephaestus's weapons are Sword and Diamond.
Hephaestus is not born ugly but ashen, he does not fall on the rocks but on the water.
Have you got a video on Hypnos
No full video yet - but Hypnos is mentioned in 'Hades' Tour of the Underworld'

Will you guys ever bring more and new voice actors?
It is a small channel that is being built people that enjoy Greek mythology. They may branch into other myths too but right now they focus on Greek. I also never heard of George Clooney until you mentioned him lol. I just thought they could bring in more friend or heck even I would join in for free or even pay them to let me on. This stuff is fun and they built something incredible. Did not mean to offend you by just asking a simple curios question. I apologize on that.
Currently no - as we work to strict deadlines and it is just not viable cost wise
We do all of it ourselves, in our tiny team of two! And at the rate and speed we work - its hard to ask for peoples time to fit into our schedules! All our friends and family have their own lives, and jobs and it takes a lot longer than you'd think haha!
(And this channel doesn't earn enough for full time payed workers to live on haha- so we're lucky to have two voices at all! This and the other channel are our jobs - so we hope to build up enough that we can continue it. It is a project out of love but we do have to eat too haha)
but perhaps one day in the far - far future!

Oh yes my friend!

Haephestus is the true sigma!
Ares next
History is a proof that women seek love , don’t offer.
Not all are the same...
One does not simply hephastos, he too stronk.
(it was funnier in my head), i do apologize.
Zeus did not try to free Hera for one reason. Zeus is in charge of administering justice, so his condemnation of Hera and the punishment she received for her actions was "pure justice".
Hephaestus should’ve stayed with the nereids.
😂😂😂
Perhaps true but then he would never become the mighty forger on Olympus !
- Lightbringer
Subtle 🙄
I guess, all the greek gods are victims of Zeus in a way.
