  • GREEK MYTHOLOGY: HADES TOUR OF THE UNDERWORLD
    Greek Gods
Hades, son of Chronos and brother to Zeus, now takes his place as the ruler of the underworld, the lands of the dead.
But Did you know that in Greek Mythology there was reincarnation? That there were many places in the lands named after their king, Hades? Watch to find out!
Living Mythology is an attempt to entertain, relax and educate all in the one place. We are trying to forge narratives so that people can experience the religions and mythologies of the world as they were meant to be. Not as dry academic monoliths, but as living breathing tales and parables as experienced by the peoples who worshipped these beings, in an attempt to make sense of their own lives and the world around them.
This channel is in its infancy, so we hope to improve and develop it as we gain more experience.
All of the tales are taken from very conflicting traditions across many centuries, so there will be many a moment when decisions need to be made to create a more cohesive narrative. If we present something that seems to be in contrast to details, rest assured we have researched many forms of the traditions and come to the conclusions we have done to form the videos.
There will NEVER be total agreement on any of these narratives due to the history and differing ways they developed over the centuries.
These videos are for entertainment and an easy gateway to the subject. If you wish more academic details then please direct your attention to the wide source material and others who perform those types of academic video essays.

I was Zeus Father as Hades not Kronis, thats Zeus other Incarnation. The One who used His Blood to Make Odin as a Incarnation for His Father "Heaven/Space ". Of Whom Hades is...Brother only in Jest around the Bitches being only 23 Years older than Zeus, seems less like a Father when You hit 300 and your first son is 277 years Old. That's all there is to the "Brother Thing" between Zeus and Hades. Thor the Son of Zeus was a Reincarnation of His Father born from His Seed. So the First Thor/Osiris was essentially a Reincarnation of Hades Himself.

Out of the three brothers, Hades had the potential to be the most benevolent ruler of the universe. He is willing to not just lead the most difficult kingdom out of the three, but he is willing to lead from the front with compassion and a perspective the other gods, save maybe prometheus, completely lack. It is a shame that he did not take Olympus.

Unfortunately, I think you are right. He was most definitely the only brother out of the three who could have managed the underworld. Zeus is too easily driven by his inflated ego and self interests, and Poseiden is far too self absorbed and lazy to do the job. But the idea of them switching kingdoms, even temporarily, is fascinating. Poor Hades would flummoxed if he returned to the underworld. Mainly because his brothers would have been overwhelmed by the sheer responsibility that goes with that throne and ruined all his hard work. I look forward to further stories from both you, Lady Lighbringer, and Sir Baldermort. Keep up all the hard work 🤠

HOW!!!!!! in all the world of storytelling and narration, can you make the Underworld seem so amazing. Hades is not the brooding temper tantrum incarnate that we have seen countless times. The afterlife has fairness and beauty.
    Simply amazing.
The script is second to none. The narration is impeccable as always.

Thank you for all your comments! We have a bit of a soft spot for Hades and the underworld, and his modern portrayals are all doom and gloom. So often made the bad guy simply because of his role as god of the dead, but the old myths don't have him as a bad guy really !
We are pleased to hear that it's immersive and enjoyable! Our goal is to create stories that help people relax and learn a little about myth, and its a joy to hear we are doing pretty well ! Thank you for watching!

I love that you portray Hades as perhaps the most responsible of the three. the one that takes his responsibilities seriously. He is Mighty and his realm Vast. I like that he is, in a very real way, Noble in bearing as well as in task. Too often is Hades portrayed as cruel and Miserly. Too often he is portrayed as the kidnapper of a daughter from her overbearing mother. Too often is he seen as a tyrant.
Given myths exist all over of Hades showing clemency, of bending the rules... justa little just enough to make that inevetable transition bearable. It is good to see him portrayed in a more fair light.
    Thank you.

“They call me evil. Villain. The Devil. But the joke is on them. For I don’t care what they call me. I don’t care what they think of me. I have a duty to fulfill, and such petty things can not detract me from responsibilities.
All Gods have a duty to the world for we are bound to it and it’s people. But only *I* take it seriously. Only *I* don’t treat the world like my playground and the mortals as my playthings.
I am firstborn of Kronos and eldest of the Olympians. Cheated out of my birthright by my own family, my own siblings! Yet I got the most important job of all, dispite no one knowing it. For in the hands of any of the lesser mature Gods I call my family, the dead would flood the world of the living.
So let them spew their lies. Let them believe their falsehoods. It makes no difference nor matters not to me. After all…” *sly smirk* “All become my subjects eventually.”

Yes, there's definitely something to be said about the way media paints any gods that are related to 'death' as evil....
Hades isn't even responsible for death- that's Thanatos - he is god of the dead. It doesn't make sense why he'd want to take over Olympus - he's already super busy hahah

    • @livingmythology1405
      @livingmythology1405  10 месяцев назад +1

There are few actually fully complete translations of most tales. Nor do the many tales connect. Too many traditions involved in Greek mythology. We do the best we can to take the most important elements of the strongest throughlines in the traditions. It isn't cohesive. All of the sources disagree. So, yes and yes. It is fabricated, not extended quotes form one tradition. Yes, it is a retelling.
Nobody from our time will ever truly know how these religions worked. Its been too long.
But eventually, the videos are for light entertainment and to get people to explore the mythologies themselves. |This gives them a starting point for their own journey. Nothing more.
