Wonderful rendition of a Velvet Underground classic.
I am always amazed at what Andrew can conjure with a violin and a looper pedal. He's great with a full band but I never feel like his solo performances are lacking by comparison. Beautiful vocal work by Lucius as always. They covered _Waterloo Sunset_ and _Waterloo_ with Wilco about 10 years ago. I'll see if I can find it.
They sing in the new single of the War On Drugs too! They are great.
I may even like the solo show I saw him do after a documentary he did the score for more than any of the full band sets I've seen him do. Incredible to see & hear.

When I first heard the Velvet Underground perform this when I was listening to their record it really haunted me and I thought nothing could touch it. I was wrong this brings the chill factor up a million times and it's so hard to make beautiful and you can tear the dark undertones of the song and the pain that the person is going through it's beautiful

I used to think the violin was a rather boring instrument, a bit too high-pitched and whiny for my taste. Then I discovered Andrew Bird and had to change my mind. This cover is amazing!

Interesting instrumentally and vocally decent. An old English ballad sound (like John Cale's studio demo from 1966). No connection to the spirit and the message of the album version.
