I bought canned pumpkin and mixed a bit with her wet food. so smart about the paws - i do that when my cats won't try a new food. wow!! 5 poops! have you had her blood taken recently? as cats age, constipation becomes an issue when kidneys are not functioning fully. of course, my cats are 9 and don't go daily, but i think it's gastrointestinal as blood work comes out OK.

      I took him to the vet. Labwork came back fine. But he was fully constipated. The prescribed him Lactulose, 1ml twice a day.
      He eats one can of Sheba wet food watered down and then free feeds on Simply Nourish dry food. The vet told me he needs to lose weight. He needs to eat mostly watered down wet cat food, and only a small portion of dry.
      So I ordered Fromm Gold Senior dry cat food and Tiki Cat Velvet Senior pouches. My own preference from research. Not in the mail yet.
      He weights 22lbs. He is 14 years old. But he's also a tall long cat. His fat hangs sags and sways, rather than him being round and bloated looking. I read on the Fromm dry to feed 3/4 cup once a day. And I guess I'll give him 1 to 2 pouches of wet food.
      I've been giving him probiatic caplets powder on his wet food. And an ice cube of diluted pumkin microwaved.
      He eats the pumpkin of it is microwaved, and has probiatic powder mixed in. I then poor it into the Sheba wet food and mix. Eats it all.

      @Floppycats  5 лет назад +2

    My cat had chronic diarrhea just like that. Turns how she's allergic to chicken. She had her first solid poop the day after she started a chicken - free food and has been fine ever since.

    • @Floppycats
      @Floppycats  4 года назад +1

      Wonderful. How did you discover she was allergic to chicken?

    • @snowps1
      @snowps1 4 года назад +6

      She's a foster that we're adopting. She came to my house already having diarrhea. I spent two months trying a few different foods and some made her poop less but it was still like pudding. Some gave her explosive diarrhea and made her look unwell in her face. She'd just laid around all day and her booty was red and sore.
      I started reading about food allergies and intolerances in cats and realized that every single food I had given her all had chicken in them. And the foods with less protein like 30% gave her pudding poop. But the foods with a higher amount of protein like 40-50% gave her the explosive diarrhea.
      So I went to petsmart and read every label and only found 2 different bags of cat food that didn't have any chicken in them, whole chicken or chicken meal. So I bought one, Halo sensitive stomach, and only gave that to her. Within 12 hours she had her first solid poop! And she's continued to have solid bowel movements since. Her booty isn't sore anymore and she's alert and perky all the time. And her dry, scruffy brittle hair is finally getting some softness and a sheen to it.
      She'd been in shelters for a few months before we got her as a foster. I think she's been sick for a while from eating chicken based food for a long time. She was so scruffy looking, more like an opossum than a cat. Nobody ever caught on that she was having issues at the two shelters she was at.

    My senior cat (12-14 years)has diarrhea issues and she won't eat pumpkin but will eat sweet potato which is another option for stopping diarrhea. If I don't have any sweet potato in the house I'll buy organic baby food BUT make sure it is only sweet potato, many manufacturers add onion or garlic to the sweet potato and other nasty stuff. If I have it handy I'll mash up the cooked sweet potato with the cat food and she will eat it. Currently getting her off chicken and transitioning her to rabbit to see if that will help her. Vet suggested the "exotic" type of foods lamb, rabbit, etc. Fingers crossed, it is a very slow process.

    So our little Jack hasn't been with us an entire year yet and we got him and his sister at 10 weeks old and at first he didn't poop pancake batter and a month or two after being with us it started. He messed in one of the bedrooms, the bathtub once twice in one night, and obviously the litterbox. Yucky. He never lost weight or stopped eating. We tried some different foods and nothing helped. I'm ashamed to say I was worried the vet may not be able to help with no other symptoms. Watched your video and tried it. It was pretty much instant and the poops stopped from about 3 tbs over two days worth of his food. I would say it stops his poop for about two to three weeks and then if I don't do it again it comes back. This definitely helped keep my mind at ease till we get to the vet for his neutering. We've used two ice cubes worth of organic pumpkin in his food and he had normal kitty poops after. I praise you two for making this video and so does Jack jack.

Nothing is helping and I don't know what to do. She's on hypoallergenic kibble and can't seem to cope with any wet food. Poached chicken she's okay with but can I give her this and kibble everyday? Her breeder said Mum and Dad are like that and its normal she feeds kibble only!! I've had cats all my life and never seen poop this soft. She's stepping in it in her litter tray (which is huge and emptied as soon as she goes as I'm home all day) Any advice? Never again. 🤦🏻‍♀️
      My cat’s diet is very plain- just seafood flavored kibbles (dry). But from time to time I give him wet canned food. From my observation he didn’t like chicken/beef varieties only seafood (wet or dry food) and so that’s what I always get him.
      Now for context, he’s been on dry food for months now- With wet food every now and then but ultimately he’s eating more dry cat food. And then I decided to try this canned food from Friskies- Ocean Favorites that has brown rice and peas mixed in with the seafood ingredients (salmon, tuna, scallops, white fish etc) and after 4 cans (that’d be 8 days worth of his meals) he started having pancake batter diarrhea and boy oh boy did I panicked.
      I always do research first before I go to the doctor or in this case the vet just to see if there’s anything I can do - or probably it’s just me trying to convince myself that he’s fine and that’s when I saw your video. I tried it and it worked on him.

We're at a good place now but those first few diarrhea episodes were MESSY! Haha! I LOVE their long hair until they have poop running down their legs! I felt TERRIBLE having to wash down her backside in the sink after she was already a bit traumatised (her owner died and she clung to the hospital bed as they wheeled it out of the apartment....SO sad)! Cats dislike apple cider vinegar (ACV) because of its smell. If ingested in undiluted form, some cats may have diarrhea and vomiting. A non-diluted version of ACV can be abrasive to a kitten's tender skin. Some cats may have allergies to ACV, which may lead to itching and rashes.

      i would take my cat to the vet if that was going on. pumpkin is not a long term remedy, especially for a sick cat. sick cats hide their sickness. how old is your cat? what does it eat? has anything changed in your environment in the last 2 weeks - like artificial air fresheners, new detergent, etc?

      @@Floppycats he just turned 1 on may 27th. About 2 weeks ago we bought cat food that had dog food mixed in it. They ate it for 2 days before we changed it. I have 3 cats, they all have diarreah, but one of them, the oldest cat, her stool is becoming more solid now. They act as normal as they always do, they still eat normal and play. I feed them dry food with wet food mixes twice a day, but I have cut back on the wet food for a week now. I just today gave them canned pumpkin, and my boy cat, the 1 yr old, is leaking everywhere.
