Great tip show to vet things done well without fuss. Pretty quilt, love bees, flowers and the message. Thank you 😊!
This was the most helpful video for large applique. Thank you, Lisa!
This is the best raw edge applique tutorial and technique out there! THANK YOU!! I've been using this technique all weekend creating raw edge appliqued panels for table runners!
Lisa, I love your style of teaching. It is as if you are talking to/with the person who is watching your tutorial. Most people 'instruct' as if they are teaching a whole group of people who are on the same learning level, but you seem to make it more personalized. You are instructing on a beginner's level, yet, at the same time it is not boring to those who know quite a bit already. You go into a great deal of detail, yet, in a way that you do not 'linger' to long on each thing/part. Great job! Today is the first day for me to watch you, and I plan to come back and start from your first video to each new one you up-load. BTW Love your design for this quilt ... keep up the good work.
Jo Ann McCraw wow, that is quite a compliment, thank you so much!! I look forward to many more videos, I have some super fun ideas coming up!!
Thank you so much for this technique,I have been piecing for 40yrs a Longarm quilter for 20 yrs,and this is the best idea I have ever seen.I will be showing everyone.I really like your teaching style as well, your advice to new quilters is fantastic.Your manner of speaking is very pleasant also.Keep up the good work.
Barb John wow!!! I am so HONORED ♡♡♡ THANK YOU SO MUCH for your encouragement!!!
Good morning Ms. Lisa, that’s so nice and easy to do. Thank you so much for sharing and teaching me how to sew appliqué and do it an easier way. Thank so much.
Lisa, I am so glad I found this video, I just started applique and you have made it so much easier. You explained everything so that I could really understand it and I thank you for that, Will follow you on FB too.
I'm glad that you found this video helpful!! I'm still trying to get comfortable in front of the camera....that will come with time I reckon. If the videos help just ONE PERSON....then it's worth the uncomfortableness hahahahaaa. Yes follow me on Facebook as I am a lot more active over there, THANK YOU!
Now THAT is the way to do raw edge applique! I had feared that fusing material would leave my quilts and garmets stiff and this method really eliminates that possibility. Thanks for such a great video!
I agree!! Thank you for your feedback !!!!
Omgosh thank you so so much for this video!! You have opened up a whole new world for me in quilting! I've only done 2 quilts in my life and I've wandered how people put such detail in thier quilts, now I know. Thank you!!
Hey Michelle! I'm so glad this video was helpful for you....yesssss a huge new world with endless possibilities with applique....that's one of the reasons it's my favorite quilting technique :)
Thank you Lisa for this video. It is very helpful to watch it.Step by step, I'm learning a lot from your teaching techniques.
Looking forward to seeing this quilts progress. ❤
just beginning to try appliqueing and am so glad i found this video. Love the idea of being able to glue the pieces down and then sew. Thanks for sharing this technique.
Doneva Fellows i hope you like this method!!! I'd love to know how it works for you :)
I absolutely love this tutorial. I made a wall hanging a few years back for the church where I go for our craft club with zigzag stitch as you’ve just described . It was my first time to do this and never done anymore since then. But you have encouraged me to have another go. Thank you Lisa.
Hello sweet Carole! I'm so glad these videos have inspired you to create, this makes me HAPPY!
THANK YOU GOD BLESS
I like your method. And I like the U-shaped work area you have so you can do everything by just rolling your chair around. I do the same thing. Sure beats getting up and down to reach work areas. Keep making these videos. NO FEAR !!
the U-shaped work area saves me soooo much time!! Thank you for watching
Good morning ☀️ Ms. Capen, so much for your teaching and sharing your teaching with us, and showing how to use freezer paper and glue so easy to do appliqué. Thank you so much 😊
Thank you so much Carolyn, so good to hear from you!!
So glad I found and watched this! I’ve got freezer paper from my waterslide decal projects! Best thing is, you can reuse the shapes to reuse! Really enjoy your tutorial, relaxed, informative and great for beginners and higher. I’ve been sewing for years but love to pick up tips and tricks.
I agree this is a great method and the glue comes in handy in my quilting all the time. I bought some of the bee fabric this year because I love the colors they are classic looking and your idea for a quilt for that fabric is a good one. I like your quilt!
Sonya Rosamond thank you!!
This quilt is so cute!
great tutorial. thanks for the step by step instructions.
Thank you for your words of encouragement. I’m learning and sometimes I feel I don’t do well. But I will continue to learn. Thank you.
Yes Maribel, keep going!!!! It's just like when we first learned to write our name.....it got better the more we did it :)
Thanks for the tutorial!
I'll start to get some ideas together to design a mini wall hanging.
I tried this last night and it worked very well! Thank you for the tutorial!
This is over a year old and I just found it. Love this, thank you. Hope to find the rest of the videos
I just came across this older video, it must have been in your last home. I got a smile on my face and thought the many faces of Lisa Capen lol. I found the tutorial lots of fun and very informational ,
What a lovely person you are. I was one who started quilting and then became discouraged and put my work down and haven’t picked it up for two years. Your encouraging words makes me wanted to pick it back up again.
+Jenifer Acklin. Wow Jenifer I'm so hlad to hear that you may pick up your quilting again! Sometimes walking away and taking a break is all that's needed.......and if you have a desire to get back to it, then we are here to help!!
thank for your encouragement.
Such a great idea. Glue sticks were always starting the raveling before I got the stitching done. Thank you for sharing.
+S Kunnavatana several viewers remind me that glue sticks work better.....honestly I find the same thing!! The edge starts to unravel and for me it's way easier to use the liquid glue. :)
Thank you Lisa. I just joined. I haven't been quilting much lately. You have inspired me to get back to it. I love your relaxed way of teaching. I always feel like I have to rush. I look forward to getting back to my favorite hobby. Thank you for sharing your God-inspired talent with us.
Barbara Meehan I'm so glad you are getting back to sewing ♡♡♡
This is super cute quilt design! Love your t-shirt too!
Thank you! 😊
Thank you so much! I am a complete beginner, but have wanted to try ever since a visit to the American Museum in Batb, UK, where I attended an informal talk on the history of Quilting. That was a long long time ago, but now I have the time to start. I shall follow you as I learn this wonderful craft.
You're very welcome! I'd love it if you kept me updated on your progress :)
Love it , thanks I have made quilts for my grand children . This one making for myself as a wall hanging for my new Apt .
Thank you for your video.
I am totally new to doing applique, but I adore the look for quilts & other projects.
Since budget is ALWAYS a concern, this makes my dreams attainable, given I invest time into perfecting my skills. I do not feel the pressure to get things absolutely perfect due to cost, so i'm ready to jump in and get started learning this craft.
My husband will also be pleased to see my scraps stash finally go down, as I jazz up little thing's here and there! 😆
I am currently putting together a baby/toddler & matching doll quilt (very quick) for my little niece. It must be done within a day or two so they can take it with them back to China. So applique will give me a look that is not only super cute, but looks like I spent lots of time & money on it (but I didn't).
I can't wait to get started!
I am so excited for you Rachael! Learning new techniques can be challenging, but it sounds like you have plenty of patience and a strong will to learn, you'll do fine, and YES....you can absolutely do applique on a budget....the freezer paper will save you so much money! Your doll quilt sounds adorable.....don't you just love the projects that are way easier then they appear when finished.....FANTASTIC!
Loved your tutorial! &, Thank you for your easy directions!
Thank you for the feedback!!! :)
Only started quilting a year ago, but I am addicted. Thanks for a great tutorial. I felt like you just took some time to let me visit with you in your studio to show me this process. 💜💛💚💐
Bobbie, it's so great to hear from you!!
Love the glue instead of heat n bond, wonder under or any other I feel like you about the stiffness. Thanks for video!

Awesome! I'd love to hear your feedback after giving it a try :)
Thank you for a wonderful tutorial!
Love your quilt design / tutorial.
Thank you! 😊
love learning this method - something to try! Much cheaper without the fusible web and no need to reverse the design either.
so true...I love that you don't have to remember to mirror image the design....as I am always going going going....and sometimes forget to do that step when using the fusible adhesives......and then I have to back track when I realize my mistake!! I'm all about saving $$$$
Beautiful and easy!!! Thanks
Rose Carrizales thank you Ms. Rose!

Thank you Lisa ..... I started the patch 3 years ago and I like the applied but I had a lot and I still have difficulties with the mirror side with the fuse. Your method is super simple for a beginner like and will allow me to make my own drawings
I live in France and it is not so simple to make the patch because everything is in English explanations but you have done your video so well that even without understanding the explanations I feel reassured by your demonstration. thank you very much
I subscribe to your channel and I will watch everything.
Continue and once again thank you for having de-dramatized for me the applied and the postponement of the drawings
Good luck and good luck for the future

+Pearl Lucas so nice to meet you Pearl! I'm so glad you have found my videos helpful ♡♡♡
Hello Lisa,
I've been watching videos in a haphazard order about different ways to make quilts. I have an embroidery machine that will applique haven't learned yet :) I love your way of doing this..ty
+Joy s. Thank you Joy!! I believe you'll love your embroidery machine for applique :) I have one and it does a fabulous job. I find the only limitation with my embroidery machine is the largest hoop size I have only goes to 8 inches wide, and I'm a fan of doing large embroidery patterns hahahaa. ♡♡♡♡
thank you very much for an informative video
+Faodail Creation thank you for watching ♡♡♡
I like you video , great information.
thank you so much Stella!
Thank you so much for your detailed tutorial even teaching how to turn the zigzag. I’m a beginner. I’m making a wall hanging with the pieces I drew in various spots like a turtle, tree, house door, etc. Have you made a video of how to make your added pieces a little puffy and protect the edges from fraying? I only have a 50 year old Kenmore. 😅 it puffs along like the Little Engine that Could.
Thank you love the video and was wondering what starch you use.
Thanks!! I use StayFlo from Wal-Mart and mix my own :)
Hi again Lisa, I just wanted to say I love the flower applique with the little bees. Absolutely beautiful :)
Karen Forbes thank you!!!! I still haven't had time to do the binding on this quilt....never enough time :)
Hi Lisa, I just watched you do the flight of the bee, WOW!! amazing!!! I hope some day I will be able to get a Long Arm machine. I am learning so much from you in the short time I have been watching. I cant wait for more of your tutorials . God Bless You and have a great day.
Karen Forbes if you have Facebook, I highly recommend following my page there: Lisa Capen Quilts. I am a lot more active on that page ;)
Ok, Thanks Lisa, will do.
Thank you!
Great!
You're doing it so nice .Probably already done by now .Wish I can see the end result .
Do you have a video of photo film strip for a quilt ? Thanks
Thank you!!
My pleasure, thanks for watching!
Thank you
Hi Lisa, I just watched your video all the way through and enjoyed it tremendously. I have a question, can you do hand applique with this method?
I certainly think that you could :) I do think though, if I were sewing down the applique by hand, I would turn the edges to keep the fraying at bay.....which changes the method in how you use the freezer paper. I have a few videos showing this process on my channel if you want to check them out.....look at the Mystery Quilt videos...it's in there somewhere :)
I am trying this next. after i finish the t-shirt quilt!
Barbara Collins this is one of my favorite quilts ♡
Hi Lisa, would love to find pattern of yr raw edge applique pattern. LOVE YR CHANNEL!!
+Isabel Charles are you on Facebook? If so, jump over and find me at Lisa Capen Quilts. On my page I have a link to my Dropbox for this pattern, or send me a message including your email and I can send it that way :)

Elizabeth Benedict wow! It really is a small world! That's amazing :) thanks for your comment...videos are not my strong suit hahahahaa!!
I live in southeast Kansas
