Thank you so much 😀
My feelings exactly! I loved this so much!
👍 This is very informative sweet sister Lisa. God bless you richly in your journey, and in everything you do.
RUclips can read my mind. I’m getting ready to make some junk journals and wanted to add fabric pages. Was going to start searching for a tutorial and this came up in my suggestions. Very clear and understandable instructions. Thank you.
I just found this, was looking for a way to do a picture on fabric. Last time mine faded away and that was very heartbreaking because I had to take apart my quilt to replace that block! Thank you for posting this!
I previously did a printed label for the back of my quilt- a few washes of the quilt and the label is useless because it faded so badly. I didn't use Retayne, so I have hopes to try that experiment again with better results.
Oh WOW. I did this today and it worked like a dream. I ordered the labels from Amazon. The fabric didn't catch in my printer and the designs I chose are all looking good. Thank you.
Lisa, u r so generous with yr time and thought in trying 2 help us all. Thank u for doing yr videos, I always look forward to them. U give me the confidence to hav a go. U always make sure that u don’t leave anyone guessing how Lisa. God Bless u and yr Family xxx

Thank you. You’ve made this process a lot less fearful and difficult. It may cost some additional funds, but we’ll worth it. Have a blessed day!
This is my first time watching your RUclips video on fabric photo printing. Thanks for your encouragement to accomplish a new quilt feature!

I love your videos. So informative.
Perfect! I made blocks for a baby quilt and they came out better than anticipated. The only thing that changed was I used the Ritz version of the chemical. Thank you so much!
This was a great video. Thanks for doing the thorough comparisons. I have several memory quilts to make using photos and I will definitely be using tips from this video
It's very interesting and great work.Thank you for sharing.
Thank you you taking time to share your experiment with us. I have never printed on fabric so I was a little nervous, but I feel much better about it now. 😊❤️
You are so welcome!
Very detailed. I glad I found this tutorial before I jumped into something that I realized I didn't know much about.
Glad it was helpful!
Nicely and completely taught. Thank you so much.
thank you so much Hazel!
I really enjoyed this video. You answered a lot of questions I had. You spoke very well, slow and detailed. Thank you so much. I am about to start doing cushions for my uncles of my grandparents and this video has answered everything I needed to know.

Will try definitely.thanks.
I didn't know about the Retayn.
boy what a difference that makes.Thank you for your tutorial.
Now Im off to go and get some if I can find it..
This was so informative. I have an inkjet printer (in need of ink) so it might be interesting to try this. I've never wanted to buy the cheesy looking printable fabric but so great to know that you can make your own. Or make your own labels for things. wow, whole new worlds to explore. Thank you so much for the detailed explanations.
thank you so much for watching along!
Thank you, Lisa, this was very helpful.
thank you so much Joan! I'm really glad these tips were helpful!
That is fantastic. Thank you so much. I think your mug rug would be beautiful framed to hang in a sewing ir craft room. You are brilliant. Thanks again. Meg
thank you so much
So informative. Thank you for all the details. Great video
You are so welcome!
Hey Lisa ! Such a great video, so helpful. I will definitely be ordering these sheets from Amazon. I will be using them for my quilt labels. I have jammed my inkjet with a label on freezer paper and these sheets look so nice a stable. I hold my breath until my label comes out of the printer ! ! You do such a wonderful job explaining everything you are doing. Will have to give the retayne a try also. ((hugs))
After this week I'm SOLD on these sheets verses the freezer paper....so much faster and I'm getting great prints. I've had a few jams with the freezer paper myself. 100% transparency here.....I printed 6 of these little mug rug designs for this video....one of them did a small wrinkle coming out of the printer.....I'm not sure why???? I was still able to use it for the video though lol. Sending hugs back your way!!
I am so excited! I cannot wait to print on fabric, using your method. My projects will not require washing but I am tickled to learn about Retayne...for future reference.
ohhhhhh I hope you have so much fun!!!
excellent tut! learned something new... will incorporate in to my projects tyfs
Super helpful, I didn't even know about Retayne! Thank you very much :-)
Great video.. loved it.. will try it at home..
One hour to wash is really long time. I bought a commercial grade Maytag washer in HomeDepot and no short cycle wash. I sold it cause I hated it. I bought an analog Speed queen washing machine at a local furniture store it was pricey $1500 but worth every penny the machine is commercial grade very heavy weight. Thanks to 2 delivery men that installed it. I love that machine can do a wash in 15”, 9”. I think use vinegar rinse. Then I hang dry outside on the line here in tropical Puerto Rico. Clothes dry here in breezy March in 45”. In hot summer 20”.
Great video. Best video ever
Super video! Thanks!
- EXCELLENT, helpful info. Thanx for the tips & for sharing.
My pleasure!
Very nicely done.
Thank you so very much for the pattern. It's lovely! I can't wait to make it. :-)
You’re welcome 😊
Really interesting and helpful- thank you 😊
Thank you for the free panel and I enjoyed your video. Going to give it a wirl!
Wow! Great video. Thanks so much.
Thank you too!
Great video. Thank you!
Great tips. Thanks for the printer setting info! I think I'll use freezer paper. I already have it and since I pre wash my fabric it probably is much easier to remove. I like doing things the old fashioned way.
the freezer paper will be SO MUCH EASIER to remove :) for sure!!
Oooh this looks fun!
it really is :)
Just bought retayne and the labels. Thank you for such an in depth experiment. While listening to your video, I was hand letter embroidering a quilt label. Looks sloppy and is tedious. Will try your printing method for future quilt labels.
Before you put the label sheet on the fabric, snip off a corner of the label. It was then easy to grab and peel off. Great video, Lisa !
Great idea!!
Great video!
Merci for the design ! Great video !
Thank you too!
Thanks for sharing this awesome process and multiple examples. I'm gonna try and do one of my own, I still need to purchase the Retayne.
after doing all of this experimenting this week, I am defiantly thinking that the Retayne is really helpful for projects going through the wash :)
Thank you for sharing! 😊
My pleasure, thanks for following along!
Quite interesting project
I want to try this, thanks for sharing thanks also for pattern like the saying on it
Thanks so much Judie, I thought this was cute too :)
ty Lisa, I just ordered the retayne and box of labels!
I'm a new huge fan of the labels verses the freezer paper after this week heheheee......it's so much faster and I'm getting some really great print results
Thanks Lisa 🇬🇧
My pleasure, thanks for watching!
So helpful. Thank you
You are so welcome!
I just found this! Thank you!!!
You are so welcome!
Now I am wanting a hopping quilt foot.
i would try Woolite (regular or dark) in cold. I think that might work better.
Very helpful!
So glad!
Thanks so much for sharing
You are so welcome
Ordered the sheets and the color retainer
found it very helpful. new to you tube things.
Hi Gwen, I'm so glad this video was helpful, and welcome to RUclips!!
Thanks!!!
Hi Beth, you are so welcome :)
Thank you, Lisa! Will definitely be experimenting more with my color laser jet printer and fabric. Now to order the Retayne!
I think the Retayne makes a huge difference :) So great to hear from you Denese!
@@TheQuiltmakerHomestead I've ordered mine! Happy to see what I had been told about Retayne not working on toner was incorrect. Obviously, it makes a huge difference! Wondering if I run my sheet through my laminator if that would be hotter than my iron. May have to give that a shot. :-)
@@deneseswackhamer7767 if you try that I'd love to know !!!!
Which printer do you have? I want to make sure I buy the correct printer.
Lisa, I think it depends on the quality of the fabric used and how well it was iron on the the freezer paper. I have no issues taking off the freezer paper with prewash premium muslin fabrics.... Thank you for a great video and for showing the difference with and without retayne 😉
Thanks so much! I agree, the freezer paper comes off very easily vs the laser printer labels that I used in this video :) thanks so much for watching!
You are soo sweet ....I love the way you talk ...
Thank you for this video and sharing your knowledge with us. How do you get the image or text to print to the full size of the fabric? I print fabric labels for my projects and I am looking to use this as an easier way to do that but I want to utilize the whole paper/label size or as much as I can to maximize my printing without wasting any of the fabric.
Wow! THANK YOU so much for sharing the details!
You are so welcome!
Do you hand wash your fabric or just put it in the washing machine? For pre washing your fabric. Just wondering
What a great video, learned so much. Can’t wait to make this mug rug. Thanks for sharing your video with all of us. You are a awesome teacher. ❤
Wow! You are so cool! Thank you for this entertaining and informative video!
❤
I'm watching this in December of 2020 and it looks like "she believed she covid". Thanks for all your tutorials Lisa.
You are so welcome!
This is a great video. Can you put the label in the retain with the paper backing on and let it soak off of the fabric?
I used to use Retayne, but couldn’t find it anymore. My printing labels with my Canon ink jet printer all the print disappeared in the wash cycle. So I will listen carefully to all of your examples:)
Hey Dela! That's a stinker that your prints disappeared :( You can find Retayne easily on Amazon which is nice!
Will you ever do a video on the quilting foot and how to use? I’m a newbie.. actually a video on different types of feet for sewing :) I have 2 Janome ( one is for embroidery, but I’m still trying to learn:(
Lisa, I love your mugrug and all your videos. I downloaded the pattern and wondered if the words and graphics could be changed.? None of my friends sew or even do crafts. But they do drink coffee. Would love to be able to change things around . I just love the idea of printer fabric, how cool is that! Thanks again for all the information you so generously give. ❤️
Hi Sharon, the download is in pdf form and so I don't think it can be changed. I used a program called Inkscape to design this. It is a vector based software and a free download online. You could design your own custom prints for fabric :)
@@TheQuiltmakerHomestead I am also interested in the process of creating the pdf. I am planning a project to take hand drawn photos and add text, size and print onto fabric to make a quilt and am having trouble with how to create the image (photo and text) for printing. I am learning inkscape and am somewhat familiar with it, just unsure about the best way to design the image with text for printing.
Thank you very much. I will not try this because it is too hard to do for me. God bless.
This is amazing! Thank you so much. I know this is an old post, but I am so glad I found it. I love the parchment paper application you do. One question, can you print on felt that way?Stay safe.
I don't know that it would work as I have not tried. Thank you for watching my videos, hope you enjoyed.
I love your videos, I am going to try this, thanks
Thank you so much Barbera, it's great to hear from you!
Thanks for this great video, but where do I find all the links? hugs from DK
Thanks so much for this video. I really appreciate all the time and effort this took. Lisa, do you prefer this method for printing photos for a quilt over using the June Tailor Colorfast Fabric Sheets? I recently rewatched that video of yours and I'm curious as to which method you think works better. Thanks!
I think they are both really good methods of printing on fabric. The awesome thing about the June Tailor sheets is that they are already treated and they work great for stubborn injet printers that won't set otherwise. I will say, I think they are a bit "stiff"....I don't want to say "crunchy"...but they feel a bit different then the rest of the fabrics in the quilt.....but the print stays lol. I like the other method better only because you can use any fabric and the fabric keeps it's normal drape and feel. That may not work for everyone's printer inks/toners so that's a stinker
Thank you so much for this tutorial!!! Great teaching!
I'm new to sewing & quilting. What kind of thread do you use for quilting? If I wanted to make a t-shirt with this design, Is there a way to adjust the Printable to just sewing machine & text only?
Do you use different stabilizers or backing inside of a t-shirt?
You are so welcome Jennifer, thanks for watching! My current favorite thread is from AK Trading Company and you can find it on Amazon...comes in a huge amount of different colors and on large cones. It lasts forever lol. The PDF I created may be altered if you have a PDF reader that you can edit with?????? I think that would require an upgraded version of Adobe Reader maybe??? Not sure. Asking about the stabilizer.....are you asking about t-shirt quilts??? I have a ton of videos on that, my favorite is the Pellon P44F :)
I know it has been a while since this video but I was wondering if repositional labels would remove easier. I may try that. I guess the heat from the laser printer made the glue melt.
I wonder if you starched the fabric on the back of the fabric before adding it to the adhesive paper if it would make it easier to peel.
Love your video!!! Have you thought about using repositional label paper, or use a tacky spray glue on the printer paper. I use it to hold fabrics while I am using my embroidering machine or scan & cut.............Thanks for taking the time to be so thorough!!!
Great idea!
