I love how Dunkey is NOT afraid of showing that some people may not like him, and that he is perfectly ok with showing that he does not like other people.
This is my favourite video among all your critical content. it's wild how it definitely fell on deaf ears for many people, even your own fans. I mean seriously it was downright ironic when the "i stop listening to dunkey" template they meme it to death, yet they're guilty of the same behavior when you gave your thoughts on The Last of Us 2. Its like sometime when people talk shit, they dont look at themselves in the mirror.
I haven't watched the star wars prequels but I know enough about them to call blatant lies. It's like you people forget things can be looked up quickly
ecruz747 it’s not about that , it’s the fact that you’re willing to seriously criticize someone’s opinion of a product you haven’t played , the fact that he didn’t even bother to play it speaks highly of his rather idiotic sense of critique
@@Cruz7471 nah, in terms of RPG games like octopath, you cannot say you know that RPG unless youve actually played it. Theres so much things that go into RPG games, the grinds the quests, etc. Unless youve watched some dude stream who literally caters to the commentators comments i.e. if I tell you to talk to that NPC you talk to that NPC, or if I tell you to buy that god damn potato 1000 times, and you actually buy it. Thats like saying, because Michael Phelps decided to livestream an entire swimming session for 3 hours magically, you know how to swim.
@@factspeaker8518 Sonic 06 is notoriously known for being bad, but the reason it is that way is only because many people talk about it. Octopath doesn't have that same luxury, you can't know the specifics of what you're talking about unless you've played it yourself and have firsthand experience with it, else you're just joining the crowd and bandwagoning based on conjecture, rather than actual facts and experience. That's not journalism, and it certainly doesn't make for a good review or critique of someone else's.
I remember when I was upset with your review for Death Stranding. I had a personal connection to aspects of the game. It provides structure, and my life didn't have that. Slowly figuring out how to navigate a harsh landscape, although boring, in the long run was something very satisfying to me. I could relate to those long 'walks', whenever it's getting over bad thinking patterns or forgetting someone you loved. I associated those emotions and sensations of connection with the gameplay, and I felt a need to defend it. You didn't have my perspective, and you couldn't have. A lot of context is tied with Death Stranding and why I like it. The story sucks, none of the interesting ideas are articulated in any meaningful way, and progression feels more like a haul or chore rather than something I looked forward to. I'm a nutball who has so many hauls in my own life and feel a deep satisfaction over getting up that hill and seeing the sunshine. How structures are printed, the sounds in the interface, the sorting, stacking, and planning allowed my unstable mental structure to follow patterns I could understand. But your review was not wrong. Not at all. Death Stranding is boring and a post-apocalyptic blue collar simulator is not very appealing like Mario, Uncharted, Battle Royales. The slowness and careful, methodical gameplay is something I find fun, but I understand how that is not appealing.
I think it's important to realise that at the end of the day, video games are made to be enjoyed and give someone a good experience. If a game managed to resonate with just one person then, even in the most insignificant way, it succeeded. You can argue about 'game feel' and 'immersion' all you want, but fun is fun, and nothing that any critic says can ever change that. You can step back and look at any game and notice the flaws but nothing beats the experience - sitting down and actually playing the game.
I understand IGN on giving reviews like this, because most people dont care about the pros and cons told in the video, they just skip to the rating part and see the number and leave a hate comment and dislike the video if it isnt 9 or higher. The fact that the largest videogame news website has to do this shows how toxic the videogame community is.
Don't forget about the extreme lengths the gaming community will commit just because they didn't like a game. Instead of just saying "the game wasn't my cup of tea" and moving on,they decide to send death threats to developer's and making up false narratives. In short: THE GAMING COMMUNITY IS FUCKIN ATROCIOUS.
Yeah but while doing this IGN gives out false reviews and it can make someone end up buying a game they end up hating. IGN should be doing reviews if they only care about appeasing everyone because that simply can’t happen
@@Shmoovin79 that is exactly what happened to me. I saw IGN's pokemon sword and shield review and bought it because thay gave it a 9.2 or something. Now I am stuck with that boring game for a year and half. Even if IGN gave it a 6 or something the video would be dislike bombed and the comments would say IGN lied and I would still bought that.
That review really proves the point that ign will never be able to make unbiased reviews even if they wanted to, because if they do they'll get shit on until the end of time.
Dunkey is a terrible critic. He's not funny. He's biased and don't provide insight. Also, Bubsy 3D is the peak of video games. I give Dunkey a 9/10. He's got a little something for everyone.

We all do, when we think something is good/bad we check the general opinion to see if it matches our opinion and then, if it doesn't, we may state if we agree or disagree. But that's how things should work, there's actually nothing wrong with that. The problem comes when someone isn't able to listen or to accept other's opinions and just rant about how wrong others people is in a way that doesn't add anything to the discussion.

Rafael Sotuyo Not really, I think Dunkey really nailed it on the head here. I could write a thesis for a degree in psychology by doing a case study of /v/. The entire point of being for a gamer is to hate everything or be as contrarian as humanly possibly.
He just read the comments on Dunkey's video and saw all the people who enjoyed the game yet can't handle criticism and anyone who says anything bad about something they personally enjoyed has their opinion automatically invalidated. "Dunkey is a bad critic and lied about a snail and doesn't understand Octopath after playing it...
Also, I haven't played Octopath traveler"
@@MaxBlight You can literally learn a game by watching a lets play lol
Just wanted to say that you're the man.
Have a good day my brother
I think it's important to realise that at the end of the day, video games are made to be enjoyed and give someone a good experience. If a game managed to resonate with just one person then, even in the most insignificant way, it succeeded. You can argue about 'game feel' and 'immersion' all you want, but fun is fun, and nothing that any critic says can ever change that. You can step back and look at any game and notice the flaws but nothing beats the experience - sitting down and actually playing the game.
A wonderfully articulate comment
This aged like wine
I understand IGN on giving reviews like this, because most people dont care about the pros and cons told in the video, they just skip to the rating part and see the number and leave a hate comment and dislike the video if it isnt 9 or higher. The fact that the largest videogame news website has to do this shows how toxic the videogame community is.
Don't forget about the extreme lengths the gaming community will commit just because they didn't like a game. Instead of just saying "the game wasn't my cup of tea" and moving on,they decide to send death threats to developer's and making up false narratives.
In short:
THE GAMING COMMUNITY IS FUCKIN ATROCIOUS.
What’s weird is that this isn’t the same deal for movies. Movie review sites are not as stingy with giving 6s or 7s as game websites are.
Dunkey is a terrible critic. He's not funny. He's biased and don't provide insight. Also, Bubsy 3D is the peak of video games.
