OMG, I am so glad I found this. I just slowly started lifting weights last week and thought "what are you doing trying to kid yourself at age 65". You have inspired me so much that I thank you from the bottom of my heart Joan. I'm going to continue on after seeing what you have accomplished. I just hope I have your stamina.

It is a gradual increase of weights each until it just becomes really difficult then stay at that weight 😊

Joan, it would be great if you could make a video about the first month of a diet/fitness program for someone 55+ years old, especially for someone who has been away from fitness for a long time (or has never been fit.) I think that would really be helpful to beginners or "re-starters" like me. Thanks!

Hi Joan, wonderful work out. I used to run 20 miles pw, lift weights, and played tennis daily when working. After getting married, got sidetracked with my husband and his four children. For a while I was swimming 1.5hrs daily x 3 - when working and swimming in the lake - I was in great shape, had my own aqua Pilates program. However, moving to FL and returning to work (we are the same age) I am now out of shape. I need to get started again but am nervous of crowded gyms. I have always like working out on my own, and pools here in FL are too crowded, as are gyms. It has held me back. You are inspiring. I've been telling myself to 'get back into it' for 10 yrs now. But go the gym and the number of 'kids' there just seem to be a barrier to moving forward. If I had access to a private pool, not overlooked, I'd be back at it without hesitation, but somehow others being around - isn't good for me. I make excuses. I just prefer to work out alone, but don't have the funds to do that any longer - after rescuing my ex and his 4 children.

I would love to know what Joan does for glutes. This has always been a weakness of mine. Hers look fabulous!

She’s said she loves RDLs and she was holding 30lb dumb bells in each hand!! She also does Glute bridge with a barbell. Hope that helps

Hi Scarlet! I am currently training in Tulum with my daughter Michelle. I do not take HRT. My results have come from great daily habits of training, tracking nutrition, and working on a positive mindset

I too would like to have some guidance on getting started. It is great to see you now; but I am sure you didn't start out with those huge weights. What do you do when you are back in Cobourg?
If I am back home I still train at the gym (when they are open). I would say with getting started, the best thing to do is to work with a great trainer.

I'm not Joan but I can say you can't spot reduce you have get your overall body fat down. The tummy is usually the last to go unfortunately.

Can you tell me about your knee braces? My knees are really bothering me from using the seated leg press and doing so many squats and lunges in class. I would like to lift heavier. my thighs Will allow it. My knees won't.

Did you have knee replacements ?
Does working out help with the pain?
