- This is the review of the brand new DJI ACTION 2 and pushed it to the limit. We attached the action cam to a motorbike, a trike, we swam with it we went to an England National Football team game. My RUclips alerts go crazy at the same time with all the channels I follow announcing the DJI Action 2 but it’s you guys who give this new action cam the best workout to show to us! Great quick summary and huge effort bringing all the footage together for this taste of the new cam. Looks tasty too !

Awesome production quality Alex, my favorite so far; tons of scenarios and tests, really cool activities (no idea whatsoever what Tri Cup was before either). Cool review and definitely I want to know more about future comparisons and the new mic.

Is there any way to use the Action 2 for extended periods with the power module and "high" heat mode? Once it overheats and you swap a new power module or dual screen in does it "reset" the overheating or is it the main unit that needs time to cool down? Does an aluminum case dissipate heat at all? I'd like to use to for 1+ hour sessions, even if it means swapping in a new power module. If it's unable to I'll likely go with the hero10 + Enduro batteries.
Excellent review Sir! So glad I found this video. Really wanted to see how well this compared to the GoPro9/10....it trounces it. Wicked! I have been looking for a replacement for my 4x Zoom Q2N's and 4K units as they are pretty rubbish in low-light. These look perfect. Thank you!
The modular design is really awesome. Makes it great for a low weight mount on a drone and a bigger camera too! Love it!

Is the quick capture faster than GoPro ?
GoPro normally takes 1 second delay to start and the action is lost!

How would you compare this and insta360 one rs? Which should I take for a casual traveler?
My country is pretty hot, so overheating might be a concern too.

Hey Alex, love the video! I'm a bit confused however - in this video you speak highly of the night footage, but in the GoPro10 Vs Action 2 low light video, it says "they both s***" From what I can see in both videos, the footage from the Action 2 looks quite usable in low light. What do you think about it now? Am I missing something perhaps? Thanks 🙂
Does the camera have better dynamic range then dji pocket 2( blown out skies)?

Did you feel it was safe and wont fall off when you attached it to yout motorbike? Not to your helmet or chest but on the motorbike itself. Did you just used the included magnetic/clamp “gopro” attatchment that was included in the box or did you have to secure the camera with something else? Love your videos and a new subscriber here. How many minutes can the camera take? ٤k + 2k
I would love to hear a couple of cons in the reviews, this camera has an in build batterie what DJI expect us to do if after one or two years heavily usage of this camera and the batterie dies? Buying a new camera? Reminds me very much on the session series. My session five is still good camera but I can't get a new batterie. Thinking of using this as an action cam chances are big to brake the front Glass element ,no way to change this yourself. It happened twice to my Osmo Action 1 and never had a problem fixing this within minutes. If u read out your internal storage = from your 32 GB 12GB are taken by the DJI System and no SD card slot to extend your storage without using the none waterproof power or 2nd Monitor cube. Action 2 comes with a lot advanced and nice features and I love the form factor but almost nobody talks about the flaws . Your footage is awesome

The screen on the "Front Touchscreen Module" is always facing forward, opposite to the screen of the camera itself.

I have the osmo pocket (version 1) without any overheating problem.
This one overheating after 9 MINUTES and shut down in 4k60p with rocksteady on. It's not my thoughts, Peter McKinnon presentation.
And the Gopro 10 overheating too!!

You’d have to narrow it down to something like DJI is the Apple of action cameras…. Which is not true because GoPro is the Apple of action cameras. I would say DJI is the Apple of drone manufacturers.

This looks so much like Gopro’s session 5 ,4K. The difference isn’t enough to warrant buying this and considering I’ve been using the session since 2016. This Dji hasn’t gained much. Maybe Action 3
Funny - I learned how to use the GoPro 7, 8, 9 and now 10 - I am NOT buying another camera I don't need nor use - I am still using the Sony NEX 5r that STILL is #1

To be honest Alex. I think the image quality is same as the Gopro Hero 8 Black during the day. At night its fine but lots of lens flair. The Hero 9 and 10 looks much better in my opinion.
I would use this for Surfing but don't really trust the magnetic connection. The lanyard would be an added safety for a second plug just in case. A rubber/ sponge floaty casing would be better for that similar to Gopro ones. I'm already seeing glass screen protectors to be a must for front camera and back screens for this camera

The connection is very stable in my opinion, as it's not only magnetical but also mechanical via those metal clips.
The fact that this thing doesn’t fall apart in low light settings is a huge win over GoPro. Nick Woodman must be sweating bullets right now😂😂😂.

Is it my MacBook, or does all action cam footage look like VHS quality, even in 1080p (I'm exaggerating). Maybe that's why they want you to shoot in 4/5k. Not very impressed with the video quality so far. Nice video though. I like the places you put the Action 2. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Matthias, we only shoot in 5k and 4k, and it worked perfect. In fact we're overwhelmed about how this little camera can achieve that quality.
Hi, thx for the reply. I kinda had this suspicion. So I guess it's my late-2013 MacBook Pro and my even older iPad (2010 I think). Sad to see that rendered-down 4/5k material seems to be too much for them already. Time for a major upgrade on my side, I think. I'm going to watch this video again in some store or at a friend's I think. I'm still curious regarding the Action 2's quality. Much love, regards, Matt.
It just isn’t as good as I had hoped, Fpv is what I use these action cams for and it just isn’t a gopro it glitches and does weird things that completely ruin the shot, seems like to much extra work you would have to do just to get a good video. I’ll stick with my heavy Hero10 with bigger motors, that seems to do the trick. Gopro just needs to make another session

Is it just my monitor or are all the roads shots horrible. Watch around the skateboard and some of the trikes. Patches of the roads come and go. Very distracting. I don't think I'd trust the mag mount on my boat unless it floats.

The black levels are horrible, night video poor (going to a stadium flooded with lights is nonsense - go to the streets), sound quality great.

It's so contrasty, shadows drop into an endless black abyss of nothingness just like the previous Osmo Action
Hi steavey! If you want more shadows you can use the cinelike, this way you can adjust the contrast you want in the post.

DJI gotta be trolling us with those devices that look like a toy but actually work a whole lot better than the real-looking ones.
tomorrow we'll be actually putting out some tests vs gopro and others...and you'll be amazed by the quality..
