it is absolutely - got mine yesterday - its so great
After 40 plus years, it was so good to see Giant Rock again. Back in the 1970's there was a landing strip that ran from the Rock down to the dry lake bed. On weekends it was the go to place for a fly-out breakfast. The "Rat Patrol" as we where called, jumped in to our little airplane landed on the dry lake bed and taxied up to a small restaurant for breakfast. The restaurant closed up about 1980 so that was about the last time I have seen Giant Rock until running across your video. Thanks for triggering the fond old memories.

Back in the 90's my band put on a show at Giant rock. We rented a generator and a couple hundred people came out. A friend of my bass player flew in with his plane that night and landed on the runway there and drove his plane up to the campfire we had going. The band set up on the slab of concrete at the base of the rock. The concrete slab from what I heard was the remains of a German scientist's house. A chunk of that bolder has since broke off right where the slab was or still is. Haven't been out there since. Brings back good memories.

I just bought the DJI Action 2 this week, remembered you really like the DJI Wireless Mic so I splurged on it at the same time. Two days of buyer's remorse followed for spending too much money. The pkg arrived and I needed a YT expert to show me how to use the Action 2 and came across this one of yours. Yes, I say at 2:00, I also got the front Touchscreen. Yes, I say at 2:05, I also got the batt unit and the selfie stick/tripod. At 3:08 I say, wait! What the heck is that? How did he get the Mic receiver on the side of that Action 2 module? I tore open the as-yet-unopened DJI Mic box and there sitting pretty in the charge box is a peculiar lil USB-C fitting (with contact points) that slides into a notch in the receiver and plugs into the Action 2! No more buyer's remorse. Thanks, Jeven! Thanks, DJI! What a setup!

Quick question. How much color grading do you do to the action2 footage?

I just bought the action 2. I did t get the case though and have noticed slight heating in the very short time I’ve used it.
Is that a world wide offer for receiving cases? I’m in Australia.

Thank you Jeven. One thing with the Action that I find problematic is controlling the shutter. Even in UK sun, without nd filters, I have to raise the shutter pretty high. You’re in extreme sun there and I can’t see any filter, but your shots are beautifully smooth. How are you doing that? (!!!)
I would love this action 2 but it'll cost me about $800 why out of my price range. But it does look like a great product.

I wanted to really thank you for the clarity of your video and excellent examples you are giving us. One thing I would really like to know from you is at position 13:49 minutes of your video you tell us that you used your smart phone camera in the pro mode to actually set the DJI Action 2 to avoid have brightness whilst you move your Action 2 from shade to sunlight. Can you expand on this and what you really did as I am keenly interested in being able to do the same. Really appreciate kind regards Daniel
I thought he meant he used the action 2 in pro mode to lock the settings from auto adjusting when he transitioned from shade to light scenes. But I could be wrong

Would be possible to connect/link the transmitter mic directly to the action 2 without attaching the receiver? it will be useful when one use to record 2 people with dedicated action 2 and give a transmitter mic each and have dedicate audio directly in the action 2.

Great video Jeven. I have the A2 and you've given me some points to think about there. I'll be getting my case for it.
I realise DJI sponsored this video and they don't make ND filters so you perhaps can't cover it but in the future it'd be great to see you going into the different ND filters and how you get the best out of them. Including the polarised options
I've pretty much stopped using NDs with my action cameras. If you use an ND filter combined with in camera stabilization it can result in blurry or less sharp footage.
@@jeremyk2740 so you sacrifice the ideal shutter speed settings for your motion blur to achieve better quality? Interesting. Something to think about. It's rare I need anything above ND8, I mostly use a 4
@@alexmagrath yeah I noticed that some of my skiing footage wasn't very sharp when using ND filters and then saw a video explaining that it can happen when using ND filters combined with in camera stabilization.

DJI ACTION 2: I wanted to know if with the piece detached from the video camera you could see what you are filming with the wifi connection. If you can't do it wouldn't it have been great if you could do it?? Have some kind of external monitor to see what is being filmed!!! Can they do it with an update or is it impossible because it's just a hardware issue??

I purchased the Action2 and it did not come with the protective case. When I click on the link you listed it shows I have no coupons. I logged into my DJI store account and the case cost is $19 for the protective case.
Jevon As a subscriber I find your videos helpful and rewarding. I am writing you regarding the DJI Action, Magnetic Protective Case. With the case on my camera my ND filters do not get fully locked on and they slip off. I have even trashed one. Do you know of any company that sells a magnetic filter that fits over the Magnetic Protective Case? I am so desperate that I have scotch taped my filter in place, not a good solution. Help!
dynamic range is lacking.. i fly fpv and that’s important because we’re constantly goin in and out of light and dark. That being said it’s the smallest high quality action cam available and it’s great!
Lol when u said the action 2 is a great little camera, you din’t seem convinced 😅. Am returning mine other than the over heating the battery life is a nightmare

Im probably going to get one, Im a bit worried about lowlight but it is a small sensor so it expected.
Since the last few firmware updates Ive heard its better - Im hoping itll be as good as my cameraphone in lowlight - fingers crossed

I love my DJI Action 2, you can do a lot with it. I know this video is sponsored and you are showcasing what you could potentially do with the Action 2. However I feel like spending this amount of money on something like the Canon M50 II would be better suited for the type of film your making here. The DJI Action 2 with the mic you're using is $900, you could get a Canon M50 II, tripod, and mic for that and it would produce better results. Either way thanks for creating and sharing.
Yeah but you can’t use an M50 II like an action camera. The point was to show that you can use an action camera for more than just action sports and pov. If you only want one camera then you can do a lot with an Action 2
Missing a trick, the size and stab of the camera is the what you should be thinking about , even a m50 draws attention, this is great for city and people filming

@@PrestonGladd I mean this is all RUclips clichéd cinematic filming , certainly would never use a camera like this if I was ever to do stuff like this which I never. These little cameras are just great for running and gunning and in the moment stuff or if you don’t want ti stick out like a sore thumb .
@@TopblokeGolf The M50? Even Sony FDR-X1000 draws attention. I shot a whole vlog in a big supermarket here in Sweden, and I had to basically scrap it, because most of the employees knew about it in 15 minutes.
I'm also a proud owner of dji action 2 ...I use it for motovlogging and want to know how can I get one of those cases... From india .
Tests by another reviewer have shown that the case itself only has a marginal effect on record times. It's primarily an insulator rather than a dissipator. The longer record times are obtained because the case has a magnet incorporated in it, which is sensed by the camera, and the camera then does not shut off at the original cutoff temperature, but at a higher temperature, and so it goes for longer. The case prevents you from getting your fingers burned from the extra-hot camera. (You can simply use a magnet on its own to get the longer running times, but at risk of finger damage. Substitute the case for the magnet, and in some circumstances the case actually reduces running times compared with just the magnet).
Will this reduce the life of the camera in the long term? Well, time will tell, but personally I don't plan to use the case (even though I've ordered one) because of that risk, and because I don't experience overheating in the first place, in my use of the camera. I already use a metal cage with attachment points for accessories, and I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't giving me longer running times as well, through heat dissipation from the metal.
hmmm yeah this video has made me question Jevens personal bias. He's made a whole video spruking a product that overheats...
@@Rockstarrred The overheating issue is one that doesn't affect many users - I've never had a problem with it in real-world use and I don't think I will actually bother to use the case - and it's inherent in a tiny device with a very hard-working CPU. Purchasers need to decide whether the size is that important to them vs the risk of overheating in their particular usage. And if I remember rightly, the video is acknowledged as sponsored at the outset. So - I'm not troubled by thoughts of personal bias. But maybe that shows my own!
3x zoom is horrible but very creative overall
