Instead, we wanted to take full advantage of not only its 4K performance but also the versatility and compact size of the DJI Action 2. It's a step backwards I'd say. They had it all in a single body and they just broke into multiple components. I don't know what's so innovative about that.

Does the battery module also have USB C for external mic input?
yes they tell you that in the FAQ's, takes 10 seconds to find out
I wish it had a memory card slot in the original module itself.
Maybe to write more than 32 GB you need more battery, here it comes the battery module with SD slot...

It's probably due to how small the unit is, but the idea of how modular this is, makes up for it
It's probably been an idea that got canned in lieu of the modular system. I wouldn't put it past DJI engineering to have thought about that, only to think it wasn't efficient.
So, what is the base product worth if you can't get your footage out of it without the sd module. This is a no go

The feature list for such a small camera is honestly insane.
It would be nice if Gopro has kept digging the Hero Session format. Still using the 5 a lot and it has the perfect format with the waterproof SD inside the main unit.
120 fps would be niiiice with the hypersmooth and a newer lens.
I need to try this one, it might fit.
This to me is the spiritual successor to the Hero 5 Session, which I also love. I do plan on picking this up for sure.

Okay now this definitely is an interesting product! Action cams aren't my game but I am most definitely super interested! Loving the innovation behind DJI's new products these two weeks.
I have a Insta360 Go2, was kinda impressed when DJI released this. But after your video showing its limits, ill probably stick with my Go2.

@@TopblokeGolf My thoughts exactly, but the magnet on the Go2 seems better, and it doesn't need a second piece to work. In terms of convenience I reckon Go2 is a winner still, but quality wise this one looks like a beast!

@@ChrisParayno yeah, I think it’s good for it purpose , just think the action 2 is a notch above it. I know the go is meant for clips but I do think the storage is too small. This will do what the go does plus more .

Pro tips: Try to attach the battery module when it overheat. And you can continue shooting without overheat issues👌🏻
not pro tips: when it overheats, throw it into water to cool it cause it's water prof

@@EverythingIsPhotogenic Pro tip, for youtube and TV 108op60fps is more than enough, and if you're doing something serious or slowmo, I'm sure you can afford the battery module.
Pro tip: Move to Germany. It's mostly cold here = no device overheating problems due to natural cooling.
I wish someone made an XL action cam, which is bigger but better quality, wider lens etc. Some people would prefer it including me.

I think what you are looking for is the Insta360 One R, you can also get the 1 inch mod that shoots in 5.3k you can shoot in LOG which make the footage *chef's kiss*. And the best part is... IT HAS BEEN OUT FOR 2 YEARS NOW

I hate when they purposely want you to buy more accessories in the name of "modular". Wasted.
I was really keen to reach for my wallet but wait - if you want the four mics, you need the front screen unit. If you want to use a memory card, you need the battery unit. So by the time you've got the equivalent of a GoPro, you've got a rather large and expensive piece of kit. I'm starting to rethink my planned purchase... it's a great concept but the card should have been in the screen unit and the extra battery should have just been... a battery. Fatal flaw, methinks. (Edit - I'm wrong - there's a slot in the screen unit. I've ordered.)
I saw this video and I said “oh shit it’s like the 360 1R!” But after watching it I fully agree. The GoPro hero 10 is the better buy. It’s a more functional package. DJI missed the mark here

*They should of made it slightly taller to accommodate the sdcard slot. This is a major flaw. There should be sdcard slot in the front screen module aswell.*
I don't feel it's about the size, it's about being sealed. you can't open the main module, not even to charge it. The front screen module does have an sdcard slot
2 years behind the GoPro HERO10.
Major issues with DJI Action 2:
- overheating
- no SD slot in main camera body, so if you run out of storage you need to tether and dump to a computer
- no 5.3K
- RockSteady not as good as GoPro
- expensive
- only 12MP still photos
The bottom line for us is while the "key opinion leaders" all ran through the specs and are promoting the Action 2 in a separate affiliate program (DJI shut down it's main affiliate program in May) almost NONE of the KOL's are saying anything really positive about the Action 2.
The heat issue and SD card just don't make it worth the price.

I think ill stick with gopro or osmo action 1. But could be different decisions using it in person. Similar to the air 2 controller which i hated but now love it as it feels expensive and not cheap

In Australia, it's AUD $799 on DJI's site, for the combo, even including tax and conversion from USD to AUD it should be close to AUD $759, that's an extra AUD $40. Good to see "The Australia Tax" is alive a kicking. Sigh !!!

I’d rather use older Osmo Action, just because waterproofing and all the bells and whistles in a same box. That doesn’t convince me…
I’m not sold on the pick-n-mix aspect of this. It’s difficult enough keeping track of what and where you need on a shoot. That said, I like the chest mount option.

SD slot in battery module makes sense if the main module's battery life isn't long enough to record anything over 32 Gb of video, probably even less at 4K res with higher fps rate
This is the most complicated Action camera that requires 2 times to be usable

What’s the size of the sensor..? How’s the HDR.? How’s the low light..? How’s the touch screen sensitivity.? Can it take RAW pictures.? What’s the MegaPixel.?
He didn't mention battery life of just the camera itself... questionable. Also those overheating issues..... yeah man, amazing idea, I want one but not with those issues.
battery of the camera module: 580mah -- maybe thats one reason they dont put a sd card slot on it～ cause it dies very soon.

Gopro has basically a 1300 battery and shoots 1.5 hours at 1080p... that's almost 2.5x the size of this... so 4k 60fps, image stabilization, with a small battery... 15-20 minutes tops sounds probably accurate

The modular design is a hard pass for me. Doesn't seem well thought-out. This camera is now a generation behind on high end video specs than the 10 in lieu of magnets? It's not an action cam until you're nearly a grand in with accessories.
Overheating - of course it would in that size. And everyone dogged the GoPro and said "But DJI..." I'll pass on this one. Fun review though
fyi: vlogging with a smaller camera has no effect at all on self conscious public filming. i wasted money on an Osmo Pocket thinking the size would help with public filming confidence, it doesn’t.

This is a HUGE pass for me. DJI's idea of innovation = Let's make this in parts and then charge even more than the last one and make it so that you have to carry more around. I'll stick with the Osmo. Great job on the video Peter as always.
the versatility is good but price not good.
I'm quite disappointed. In the old body you had everything. Replaceable Battery, USB-C, SD Card module and two screens.
Now you need to decide between a battery + SD Card or the screen. Not ideal.
For now I'm still satisfied with the OA1, but after that I quess I need to switch to the GoPro.

I'm afraid this is a hard pass for me. I appreciate thinking differently but in my opinion they've taken a few steps backwards and made a system that's significantly worse than the competition.
I'm a MTBer and the key things I look out for are battery life, ease of editing (SD card), toughness (including a replaceable lens if possible), waterproofness and audio.
The Gopro Hero10 has all of the above, the Insta360 One X2 has all of the above minus replaceable lenses (though I've got lens protectors on which is a decent alternative)...the Insta360 also has the advantage of being a great 360 OR pov camera and I love I can film POV and choose landscape for youtube or portrait for Instagram reels from the same footage.
This DJI doesn't have replaceable batteries which is a deal breaker for me, it's not waterproof with an SD card unless I also get a bulky waterproof case which kills any decent audio I could've got and it doesn't have a replaceable lens. It's a tough sell to make me want this camera for my uses.
