    For the hearing impaired:
    1. Find a stretching regimen that works for you
    2. Stop using super strength relaxers
    3. Find appropriate protein/moisture balance
    4. Moisturize and seal correctly
    5. Wrap your hair at night
    6. Trim your hair consistently
    7. No tension protective styling
    8. Add pre-pooing to your regimen
    9. Limit heat tools
    10. Know the ingredients in your products

    I tried stretching for 3 months and by the last month noticed excessive shedding. My stylist has switched me to 2 months and I’m hoping that will make a difference. I’m still beyond happy to have made the decision to end my 9 year natural hair journey. I couldn’t have made the decision without you so thank you for sharing your journey.

    • @BriannaRashay
      @BriannaRashay  3 года назад +4

      Awhhh without me?? 🥺 I’m so honored ! I’m glad that your not getting discouraged by the expressive shedding! Once you get on the right regimen for your hair with the help of your stylist, it’ll be worth the trial and error! ❤️❤️❤️

    • @heatherelliott8246
      @heatherelliott8246 3 года назад +5

      @Quenosha The rule of thumb, I was given is “if u r shedding...u should have gotten ur relaxer the week before”. That is probably the concept in changing/suggesting 2 mths...probably. I followed that rule of thumb 4 more than 20 years in the same stylist’s chair. Try a DEEP conditioner at home before conceding/following a 2 month regimen. Try it before u surrender the thickness I will bet u r experiencing stretching ur relaxer. (Oh, u probably haven’t seen the slow thinning yet w/ our relaxed hair because u were recently natural. Go w/ every 2 months and you will!). I’m shedding too. I’m @ 10 weeks post. I have successfully made it to 3 mths WITHOUT drama 4 the last year despite being told I don’t have the “type of hair that can make it past 6 weeks”. 😂 . I was not offended but appreciated the raw truth...I thought was truth. During COVID19 shut down, I stretched to 4 months 6 days without drama (breakage or shedding). Based on my recent experience, you and I r in need of lots of moisture...deep conditioner. I’m also experiencing scalp issues I have had historically from lye relaxers. I sat still and allowed the regular Affirm be applied to my hair when I KNOW I need/request the Affirm for Sensitive Scalp. Ensure there was no change in ur last service. I’ve learned...I have 2 trust myself and walk in that trust MORE than my stylist of more than 20 years. She really is amazing just not right about my hair 💯. Know ur hair...learn ur hair. Best of luck!!

    • @Quenosha101
      @Quenosha101 3 года назад +3

      @@BriannaRashay no discouragement here. My experience has been better than what I went through in my teenage years. I never planned on going natural, it really just happened. I believe learning the traits of my natural hair and combining the knowledge I have from being relaxed years ago is helping guide me through my new hair journey. I follow a strict weekly regimen and my stylist is impressed at how well I keep my hair moisturized. So I’m confident I will retain length and thickness. Thinking about it now my mom and her sisters are all shedders but have beautiful and long hair, maybe it’s hereditary. I was a shedder when I was natural. But considering hair is a game of consistency, I’m going to keep being observant of how my hair reacts to certain things to prevent unnecessary breakage.
      I honestly, was going to relax my hair on my own after watching your channel but changed my mind. I realized I couldn’t pull it off as successfully as you do and left it to a professional like yourself.
      I look forward to seeing more of your videos and any new content. Thanks again✨

Wrapping my head up makes me sweat and gives me a headache. Can't sleep like that either. I give all that up. Breathable cotton pillowcase for me thank you. I just braid up my hair before bed. Don’t comb the hair roughly and don’t overcome the hair (no more than once a day) also stay away from tight hairstyles like high buns of ponytails (even low buns shouldn’t be tight) and make sure you use the right hair ties! • @BriannaRashay

      I always say wait until your next relaxer touch up and if you want the texture to be more processed apply relaxer to the previously relaxed hair after your done with the touch up application. That way the processing time on those areas will be short and you can avoid over processing.

      Any type of braids are fine

      @@BriannaRashay agree to disagree I suppose…I think really small, tight, heavy braids are horrible for relaxed hair. Do you still like any kind of braids for relaxed hair a year later? I had small box braids when I was natural and my hair still broke off I would never get them on my relaxed hair😭loved the video

      You can also use a silky pillow case. That's what I do and it works!

    I know how to fix this... stop using relaxer
    Once you use it, couple months later you wanna cut it cas it looks like melted strings

      That’s not always true. Mine does that in its natural state and is hard to manage. If you don’t support relaxers go watch something else.
