It definitely sounds like it's assisting in creating different neuropathways for coping with repeated patterns. Neurofeedback may work really well in conjunction with NAC
Irritability is caused by anxiety. Anxiety causes the release of Cortisol. Too much production of Cortisol causes oxidative stress and damage. Glutathione reduces the oxidative damage, therefore reducing the irritability factor. Perhaps in reducing the damage it assists the brain in creating new neuropathways to cope with anxiety 🤔 Or something along those lines 🤷♀️🤔
I started taking NAC in 2020 to help with my mucus/sinus problems. I took 1500mg at night and was able to breath the next day. It opened up my nasal passages. It helped reduce my fever symptoms when I was sick. But now the FDA has banned it in the US.
The FDA banning it angers me. What a coincidence it happening during Covid pandemic. We the people cannot allow it to happen!!!!! They are sick criminals. www.anh-usa.org
I have had nasal/sinus problems all my life. I am 36 years old now and started taking it months ago. No joke, it's cleared all my passages and the best part is that I feel like my brain is clear, like a huge cloud was removed. The clarity I get feels amazing like I'm born again. Also, I am getting better REM sleep. I use to wake up after 8 hours, still tired and lazy but ever since I got on NAC, I only need 5 hours of sleep and it feels like I got 10 hours. I feel awake and refreshed. Honestly, I will keep taking these until I can't anymore.
In South Africa it’s commonly used for colds, flu, post nasal drip as it thins mucous. It’s available in all pharmacies in effervescent tablet formulation.
For those who are sensitive to any side effects from NAC, there is an equally effective alternative without the side effects : Setria Glutathione. Peer reviewed studies have shown that Setria Glutathione is indeed bioavailable and does substantially increase the body's glutathione levels. This may be due to availability of both direct transporters (ie. some % assimilated undigested), as well as increasing the body's concentration of the individual component peptides for the body to synthesize glutathione at equilibrium (even if some % is digested before assimilation).
Can't tell about others, but I was not going to comment because I'm so excited about it that I am eager to seek more info and view all those amazing testimonials that there is! :D I have taken it about 1-2 weeks now and my condition has improved a lot. I had cardiovascular symptoms, pains in heart, hands, legs, etc. in rest and while doing something. Also numbing limbs at night. Risk factors include smoking tobacco+MJ and sitting too much in front of computer, meaning lack of sufficient exercise. Those physical symptoms brought up pretty bad anxiety and medical authorities were saying it is panic attack and refused to do further examinations to exclude those typical cardiovascular diseases. I've found out that there's lots common in symptoms of panic attack, heart problems and neuropathy so it's easy to do misdiagnose. Can't say that it's precisely NAC that helped me, because there is many variables in my case. I have started recently to take Inosital, ALA, AlCar and GABA. Same time because they arrived as a bunch. :D I had no patience to start them one by one over time to see how each effects. Besides of those, I have used also magnesium, B-complex, C,D, E and K2 vitamins, GSE, Niacin, Omega 3 capsules, Q10, chlorella, spirulina, chia seeds, glutamine, creatine, L-theanine and MSM. And some more. :) Latest but least I got *serrapeptase* which gave lots of relief to those physical symptoms. I guess it's called miracle enzyme for reason! Besides of NAC those others have definitely had effect on brain functions as well. :)

I’ve been using NAC for about a year now. I started using it to keep my organs healthy while on SARMS. I used to drink everyday after work and on the weekends. About 6 months ago I completely lost all desire to drink and now when I do drink I don’t like the way it makes me feel at all. Is it because my NAC supplementation? IDK but I can see no other reason why I would lose all interest in drinking just like that!
@@PsychiatrySimplified I'm talking a nootropic stack to overcome ADHD issues. Never been diagnosed but I struggle with following through on goals. Probably because I'm too busy, ironically. Stack is L theanine 200mg, L tyrosine 500mg, Tumeric Curcumin 1,500mg, Ginkgo Biloba 120mg and NAC 1000mg. Once daily with coffee or juice. Regarding the dosage, in a recent study (Paydary et al 2016) that found NAC might be effective as an augmentative agent in the treatment of moderate‐to‐severe OCD, the participants were given NAC (2000 mg daily) as a supplement to fluvoxamine (200 mg daily). Does anyone have updates on how their NAC use has been going?
I'm tapering off of Clonasapam. Horrible side effects.(Neurological). NAC is a great help. I've been advised by my New Neurologist to take 1200mg daily. So far, so good.

Ive read NAC taken orally has as very low bioadvalability. But what are the effects if you inject it, like they do in the hospitals for paracetamol overdoses?
Oral is the only version you're going to be able to get. Yes bio is low that's why the dose is high usually 1000mg twice daily, it must be taken on a completely empty stomach so 3 hours before or after eating because if NAC comes into contact with other amino acids in the stomach it becomes even less bio available.
NAC Sounds like it would be a good candidate for crushing up and mixing with black pepper, resveratrol, curcumin, trans-e-viniferin in a shot of MCT oil. Is it oil soluble? Or maybe just crush it up, and desolve under the tongue.

I have been waiting between 12-16 hours after the last drink at present.. Thanks, Ben

It fascinates me to hear you say your study on autism was better. It is apples to oranges. At the very least different doses with different results are not comparable.
Would positive outcomes in any of these trials make it more likely that governments (esp. US FDA) regulate NAC as a drug instead of a supplement and remove it from OTC?
As I almost remember, the opposition to the FDA in court is saying that it's been a supplement since 1948, so it has a grandfather clause so it is omitted from the 1994 law that the FDA claims gives them the authority.

It depends on the symptoms and the severity of Sx. NAC has indirect effects on mood via modulating glutamatergic systems and via immunomodulatory, inflammatory pathways. But in moderate to severe Sx it may not do it on its own. So it’s difficult to know if taking Liposomal glutathione vs NAC - which one would be better because it would need a few variables to take into account.

Irritability is caused by anxiety.
Anxiety causes the release of Cortisol.
Too much production of Cortisol causes oxidative stress and damage.
Glutathione reduces the oxidative damage, therefore reducing the irritability factor.
Perhaps in reducing the damage it assists the brain in creating new neuropathways to cope with anxiety 🤔
Or something along those lines 🤷♀️🤔
new neuropathways so its not neurogenesis but plasticity ?
I'm just starting to try it with glutathione. Curious if you've used it and if it's helped. Good luck and take care

I started taking NAC in 2020 to help with my mucus/sinus problems. I took 1500mg at night and was able to breath the next day. It opened up my nasal passages. It helped reduce my fever symptoms when I was sick. But now the FDA has banned it in the US.
The FDA has banned it as a supplement. Is one able to get it as a prescription?

I'm an Autistic Senior. I've been on NAC pursuant to other motivations fro 2-3 years. Irritability has in fact lessened during this period.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing.

1.2k views and I'm the first to comment? NAC has a positive affect on brain fog within a couple days (for me).
thanks for the feedback. Always good to know of personal stories.
Can't tell about others, but I was not going to comment because I'm so excited about it that I am eager to seek more info and view all those amazing testimonials that there is! :D
I have taken it about 1-2 weeks now and my condition has improved a lot.
Latest but least I got *serrapeptase* which gave lots of relief to those physical symptoms. I guess it's called miracle enzyme for reason!
Besides of NAC those others have definitely had effect on brain functions as well. :)

How to take NAC supplement, with or without food? Thanks.
Because there are different supplements best to read label or ask pharmacy.
@@PsychiatrySimplified
Thanks for replying. Whats the best way of taking NAC in general. It is not written how to take on supplement itself.
With food, its more likely to cause gastrointestinal symptoms without food. I'm speaking from personal experience.

Check lithium orotate for bi-polar
Their are 3 types of bi-polar medications. Depending on which doctor prescribed witch type. I wouldn't know the answer anyway. My guess would be yes.
Can you take NAC when pregnant?
Can't provide advice on that sorry. Your doctor or pharmacist is the best person to ask. Wish you well.
Boxers should take NAC after afight.
PTSD?
i gain a lot of weight when i take NAC. like just one dose for one day makes me gain 3 pounds. i had to stop. but why is this ? anyone? it seems water weight.
There is evidence for fluid retention with NAC. No direct evidence of metabolic dysfunction leading to weight gain
I have huge sugar cravings and I am going to try it
Elizabeth me to
I heard candida makes sugar craving. Which in turn makes the candida problem worse. You may try Gaba (Gamma amino butter acid).
Maybe Erythrit or xylite as sugar replacement.
Does this supplement cause diarrhea?
Not for me
Not anymore. FDA banned it
Has anyone noticed they’re less emotional on NAC

Ketogenic or carnivore diet
My son is 8 years old and has autism too. I gave him 600mg in the morning after breakfast. It improves him alot after taking this supplement. He talks alot now and communicate well with eye contact from being 2 to 4 words only and no eye contact.
