Good to hear. I finally got to the end of the waitlist for a KOT and couldn’t help myself and bought a jan ray to stack with it 😂👌 i feel like all gain staging is covered with these 2 pedals
PLEASE do a shoot out with the kot and shanks OD’s-1! I’ve wondered if the shanks bass trim pot is turned down a little it would sound like the kot on the high gain red side.
I have both. All I can say is that the right side of the Analogman can't compare to the Jan Ray. No way, despite what you may hear in this video. The left side - the clean side - of the Analogman is great into the Jan Ray. In fact, the left clean side is always on for me. The Jan Ray sounds incredible good, and even more so with the clean side of the Analogman running into the Jan Ray for a little bit more drive and clarity.
@@fetterman68 I can't get a clean tone out of my Jan Ray, even w/ the gain turned all the way down....W/ my Timmy I can get a pure clean boost. The Jan Ray really does make your amp sound like a BF/SF Fender....while the Timmy just boosts or overdrives what you have.
I was prepared to shell out the dough for a used King of Tone until a guy at El Diablo Amps Mpls encouraged me to sample a Vemuram Budi G and the Jan Ray together -- Budi G (boost) into the Jan Ray (overdrive). I paid the same for the two Vemuram pedals as I would have for a used KOT, but I have no regrets. I do think a KOT vs Jan Ray by itself is a bit unfair. It's important to note that I'm a HUGE fan of Analog Mike. My Sun Face 2SB-175 is my favorite pedal.
After 2 Amp Elevens, 2 KOTs, a Timmy V2, a Lightspeed, a Timmy V3 and a Jan Ray. I ended up keeping the Jan Ray, but regretted letting go of the Lightspeed as well.
I have both pedals. I prefer the Jan Ray by itself, but it stacks soooooo good with the yellow side of the KOT. Great demo!!
Do you put KoT first or Janray?
@@faridzayish I put the Jan Ray first.
A klon style pedal before the KOT also works very well.

I’ve done it. The shanks is a deeper sounding pedal with less middle and more bass. Cleans up much better than KOT
The sound of the KOT is more open and airy. I can feel the mojo effect !
Thanks 🙂

I was not expecting them to be so similar, since they come from different projects.
They’re both modified bluesbreakers, no?
@@otaviosmartins1 the Vemuram is a Paul C.’s Timmy clone.
@@1989guitarplayer they sound nothing alike. Jan ray is much cleaner and open sounding that a timmy

I agree@@fetterman68
King of tone is fuller sounding to me. Pretty similar though.

I had both, Sold the Kot, the Jan Ray is magnificent

The Jan ray seems hi def and the analogman seems a tad muffled
Jan Ray vs Cornish CC-1 would be interesting
KoT is the best.
