    The Jan Ray is my favorite overdrive pedal. I also love the J Rockett 45 Caliber, the Dude but I consider those more amp in box pedals to add a JTM or Dumble amp tone to your sound. But for a just a straight up overdrive pedal, it doesn’t get much better than the Jan Ray.

    I love the less saturated settings. I am thinking of trading my mesa boogie v-twin tube preamp pedal for this plus $80 on top from the other guy. I love the mesag but my peavey bravo 112 has two channels and both sound amazing so I plan on using this on the clean setting to break it up for lighter gian stuff and using the channel switcher foot switch for the heavier gain channel. I got a sam hill custom pine wood 2x10 cab that will sound amazing paired with this type of overdrive I think. Thanks for the video. 🤙🏽

    I love this pedal but I gotta be honest, I think the lowly Blues Driver can do what this does, at least in my favorite settings (and then some). Lesson learned for me. If anyone's considering this pedal, I would recommend you give the Blues Driver a test... drive. It even does a great fuzz tone at higher gains.

      It’s a Monster of a pedal! I think it would be a nice addition with your Revival Drive. If it’s good enough for Doyle Bramhall it’s good enough for us right? Haha. In all seriousness I think you’d dig it!

    • @onenotesolo256

      I’m using that set up on a board at the moment. You can put the Vemuram before or after the Revival Drive (mine is the Compact version of the RD). They complement each other well. You might also consider the Shanks ODS1.

  • @jessejuno5317

    It sounds it's best when the trim pot is set to the most gain position. Then turn the gain down with the knob.

    Have you tried the myriad fuzz yet Mark. I bought the large version "the myriad" about two months ago. I have bought several fuzzes over the years and have always been left wanting more. I can happily say I will never need another fuzz. It is the creamiest fuzz I have ever played. It is just on another level.

      thanks man! It's gotten so much better since this video too. This is like the beginning of me getting into RUclips. There's a newer drive pedal I got from Silktone that might be the best OD pedal I have played all year. It's called the Overdrive +. I'd check that out for sure!

    • @pickycomplex
      @pickycomplex 4 месяца назад

      Timmy is transparent kind of not-coloring gain booster thing and this one has pretty colorful texture in it. The fact that they used Tim's topology doesn't make it sound the same. I understand blaming Vemuram for using Tim's topology and not saying any honoroble mention for Paul but those two are a different animal.

    • @pickycomplex
      @pickycomplex 4 месяца назад

      I prefer Timmy for humbuckers with dirty amps but Jan Ray is way more good for Strats. It works like perfectly evolved Tube Screamary sth. Actually, it sounds closer to TS rather than Timmy.

    • @efstathioszavvos4878
      @efstathioszavvos4878 2 месяца назад

      That's not true at all, the pedal has a tone warmer than the Timmy and the gain knob performs throughout the range whereas the timmy sounds crap when you crank it.

    • @markhopkinsmusic

      @@markhopkinsmusic i dial in my best liked cleans on a fender super or twin and take that as my base .
