The placebo effect of the new "must have" racquet. I keep saying that its the archer and not the arrow and here I am kicking behinds with a 6 year old Prince Phantom Pro 100.
In the end it's all about feel. My actual main is the Phantom 93P 14x18... BUT... I love it because I kinda started with the Spectrum Comp 90. I own myself over 20 different frames... I switch regularly between all of them... I like the feel, of switching, testing, experimenting, learning... but there's nothing better than that of kinda going back home, and feeling what actually is your needed tool to make your own tennis work for yourself... If it works, it works (my Spectrum Comp 90's are from 1985 and they ROCK with Poly, they're even older than me, AND I still USE them) Greetings!
Great comparison and comprehensive analysis between these Yonex racquets. Well done!! 🎾🎾🤓
One of your best episodes ever. Thanks
Is it likely that the Yonex endorsing pros are using the Regna model with another paint job ?
I have both these racquets, the Regna 98 & 2023 VC95. I give the VC95 the edge, It’s more forgiving with a plush & softer feel, bigger sweet spot and spin potential. The Regna has a bit more power & raw feel, but not much. Believe it or not everything else is the same stability, swing weight etc etc. Both phenomenal racquets, just a matter of personal preference at the end of the day. 🎾🎾🤓
What do you mean by raw feel
@@Bambotb the string bed and racquet feels slightly more connected to the ball on impact with the Regna98. The VC95 is slightly more muted and stable…Bottom line is both these frames are hands down some of the best racquets on the market today!!
Glad to hear the new VC95 is being compared to the Regna hitting experience. I'm switching from the outgoing VC95 model to the new one. The outgoing model was way too muted for me.
thanks for answering the question I asked live!
Please show longer hitting season with the racquet.
Interesting about the taper in the throat of the Regna that could be associated with its feel. Dan mentions he has never seen it on any other racquet. I play with Donnay Pro One 97s from about 10 years ago and this feature is in their design. I can't speak on the newer Donnays, but it seems like they figured this out before Yonex. And I always go back to these racquets because they feel better than any other racquet I have ever tried.
Fantastic guest
Glad I am owning to of the Regnas:-)
it would be interesting to compare Ezone 98 to Regna 98 and see what percentage to the greatness is there.
Not much, but the Ezone Tour is similar, Tennis Spin covers that in his Ezone Tour 98 video, I think video title is best sellers or under the radar rackets
Can’t compare headlightness by balancing from the bottom of the hoop because the Vcore 95 hoop is shorter (bottom of hoop ends higher up), so it will appear more headlight than it actually is
I do own a Regna 98 and agree on its magic (feel of the ball, being manuevarable while stable and powerful, great for serving) however I do still prefer weighted vcore 95 2018 or ezone 98 tour, they just feel more solid with more plow and work better for my OHBH .. adding weight to Regna for more plow losses its magic unfortunately for me
Dan the Man! 🍻👍
2 'experts' getting technical about racket technology & specs. I wonder if they can play just as well 😜
Harry, please have Dan include the EZone 98 against the Regna
It‘s magic. This guy worked for Apple before
So funny, for a so-called scientist
Are Regna's available? Where can you buy one?
I hav all regna Version 2, 3 and vcore 95. The all play quite similar but i like the 95 sq in head.
Them 3 are definitely from the same family...made by same hands.
Regna is playing all by itself, 'cause it's so much better than anything else 😂😂😂
Impossible to replicate the feel of the Regna 98!
Can’t wait, love the 19 VCORE 95 😂
I have the V3 Regna 98 and just played the Vcore 95 and 98. I have literally been giving people the feedback when they ask that they play extremely similarly. The Regna has a thinner beam but they feel extremely similar and play very similar. Been extremely pleased with both and a lot of people love the all black Regna
Meaning the brand new Vcores
I used the VC95 2018 as my main for a while. I now use the Regna 98 and i can tell you that its not even close. The 2018 VC95 was a great frame in terms of maneuverability and control and how fast it swung through the air. It does not have the stability and power of the Regna. The feel of the Regna is different too, especially when you can manage to hit the sweet spot.
I agree but this is the vcore 95 2022
I have both these racquets, the Regna 98 & 2023 VC95. I give the VC95 the edge, It’s more forgiving with a bigger sweet spot, swing potential and a more comfortable flex rating . The Regna has a bit more power & feel, but not much. Believe it or not everything else feels the same stability, swing speed etc etc. Both phenomenal racquets, just a matter of personal preference. 🎾🎾🤓
See what you said at the end that you are gonna do for the next video analysing them etc? I thought that’s what you were gonna do in this video 🤣
I'm currently using a 13 year old Babolat racquet lol so I know when I move to a new racquet it will take a while to get used too. My game relies on heavy top spin however I really have to put a lot of effort to generate spin and power which really can make me tired at times. I think it's due to the old racquet. I'm thinking I could evolve my game with a new racquet I can put less energy in and reap the benefits of getting easier power and spin. I also enjoy a nice slice and the occasional flat shot. So would you recommend the ezone 98 instead of the vcore for me and what strings should I get and at what tightness! I honestly am struggling because there are so many brands and types etc.
What bab are you using? Even 13 years ago babolat rackets were powerful stiff and spin friendly. If you haven’t messed with strings and tension first. I would start there! Obviously, if you are dead set on a new racket you could demo the new version of what you have. GL in your search!
Go to your local pro shop or call Tennis Warehouse and demo A BUNCH of racquets! Take your time. Hit with heavy sticks and light sticks; power, spin, and control racquets. No one can suggest to you what racquet set up to settle on. It’s a PERSONAL preference. Also, after you get your new racquet, you’ll want to play around with different strings and tensions. Yup it’s a lot…so enjoy the process. Good luck!
Good guest appearance.
Why a Regna 98 in lieu of a VCore 98 Pro?
What is the blue string on the vcore 98?!
Typically stores pair the 2023 Vcore with blue poly tour pro as it matches the shade of blue of the paint

How come no Yonex sponsored pros use the regna?
It's just a special racket for high end consumers. In Japan you become a member of the Renga club with special events to attend. Pros can get whatever they want. In addition, Yonex doesn't need or want a boost in sales bc production is limited
@@nominal with pros being able to get whatever they want, why wouldn't they get the best Yonex have to offer? (According to every RUclips video and internet forum regarding the regna at least, I've never tried it unfortunately)
@@EpineCA It's pretty great, but for a pro they can get more customization. They play in a different world.
S meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Regna is crap.
