    My favourite tennis string would definently be the solinco confidential before playing with it I was blind and after getting my racquet restrung with it I was able to see how much of a difference using top tier strings made on my game. The solinco confidential fits my play style very well fast swings that give a lot of power but the hits still feel in control.

    I used to play competitive tennis as a junior and teen and dealt with severe tennis elbow. I swung hard and aggressive for a young player but didn’t have the muscle mass to compensate. Played the with the pro kennex 7G up until about 6 months ago. Switched to the ‘23 V Core 95 and couldn’t be happier. Using Wilson Natural gut in the mains and tier one ghostwire in the crosses 56/54 (fyi I also play at 7k feet so a little more tension for high altitude). It took a little at first to get used to going from a 100 sq inch 27.5 inch length to 95/27, but now that I am getting comfortable it feels amazing. It is definitely a racket to grow into as a player approaching 4.5 level. I get tons of spin and power when I make good contact. Plenty of times I hit a topspin forehand and my opponents watch it drop in because they simply couldn’t believe it would stay in play. There are other rackets out there that feel much easier to play, but I also think they limit me in terms of rewarding poor footwork and technique. I customized with 2 grams on 3/9/12. This was a little tough at first because it did affect my arm, but once I got used to it and worked on my form and timing I am very happy with the added stability.

    My personal racket of choice, retiring my 2018 Vcore 98s, tried the 2023 Vcore 98 and found too much inconsistency. This racket just checks al the boxes for me in spin, power, accuracy, and feel. Mine ended up with a stock sw of 325 and 320, nothing little lead can’t fix. Current setup is polytour rev/4g soft 50/48. Forgiving and spin friendly

    @TennCom I'm really enjoying PolyTourRev in recent testing while trying to choose between the '22 EZone 98 and the '23 VCore 100. I played with various iterations of the Wilson 6.1 95 for many years and your review has me wanting to add the ' 23 VCore 95 to the mix. I'm a bit concerned it may not offer as much easy power that I find I need in my senior years though. Thanks for another great review.

      I am a 53 year old 4.5 with a good arm, power on the FH and serve, mostly slice on the BH, and an aggressive game. I do love midsized frames (been playing a lot with the Angell TC95, both 16x19 and 18x20) and have recently transitioned to the newest Vcore 95. I agree that it is a gem of a frame, but it does need some lead in the hoop to bump up the swing weight and power (stability is already very good in stock form). One of my regular hitting partner was telling me the other day how he thought my ball was coming in much faster than with my Angell's. Now, let's be clear, this is not as easy to play as an Ezone 98. I had a lesson with a coach the other day, and my strings broke within 15mn (I thought I had at least a couple of hours left in it). As I didn't bring my 2nd Vcore 95, my coach lent me a spare Ezone 98 that he had. There was an immediate bump in the length of my ball, to the tune of about 1 meter on ground shots. Serves were very fast but sailing long, I really had to focus on letting the wrist whip the racquet head down to keep the ball in. Once those adjustments were made, I found the Ezone 98 very user friendly, and complementing my game well. This experience kind of put a spider in my head. I'll continue to play with the Vcore 95, seeing that I like it so much and just bought two a couple of months ago, but at the next change of frame, I'm pretty sure I'll be going to something like an Ezone 98, which is essentially a modern player's frame.

    I have the 2018 and have also demo’ed the current version. I am a big fan of most control oriented 95s including the prestige, older pro staffs, and the old pure control/pure storm. However, I could not gel with this line of racquets at all. I found instability problems and a lack of forgiveness unless weighted up to 340+ SW. The 2023 model was a bit better but it shifted the sweet spot up to the tip of the frame and I hit more in the center. I just don’t think mixing a classic 95 frame with spin tech is a great idea.

  • @adriellepretre9047
    @adriellepretre9047 Год назад +1

    Definitely a great racket. It’s a racket that grows on you and could make you a better player. But patience is the key with these types of frames.
    One has to forget it’s a 95 or that it has a different head shape or any other preconceived ideas.
    Just flow with the racket and see where it gets you.
    Right now I’m using the Shift 300 as partners are scarce and trying to get playing hours to see if the Shift is what it is. But I suppose I’ll get the Vcore 95 again sometime.
    Also looking forward to your Pure Aero 98 review. I did no like the Pure Aero VS or 2019!Pure Aero. But always interested in their reviews specially when pros like Alcaraz and other play with it even though I suspect they play with a more refined racket specially made for them.
    I would love to love Babolat but I don’t like their feel lately.

    (In my opinion obviously) the SV95 is such an amazing racket with lots of power and spin potential, maneuverability and is so comfortable to play with, however I have added some weight here and there. Not to mention how good it feels on serve.
    I have yet to notice the “hot spot” on the lower hoop you mention. I only get problems with the string bed when the strings need to be cut out. I had 2 x 95Ds back in the day. The problem with the 95d is that at 320g unstrung, and with a low stock swing weight, by the time its strung with overtrip, damp and bit of lead added, you're looking at something around 350g+. That's a heavy swing these days....

    I like the most recent iteration of hte head Prestige Tour which is a 95 sq in racquet w/ a thicker beam. Compared to other 95" racquets like the Angell or Yonex vcore 95 (the 2021 version), I felt the beam thickness helped w/ stability especially when I had to defend on my BH. I like though the 95" head for it's slightly faster headspeed on serves and the feel for hitting flatter shots. Sadly I don't think any pros play w/ this frame so I fear Head may eliminate it from the lineup :(

    • @TennCom
      @TennCom  Год назад

      Musetti used to use that mold before he switched to the Extreme Tour under the Boom PJ. Also, that racquet has like a 338SW which is probably driving the stability factor for you more in conjunction the beam thickness.

      I am a big fan of the Angell TC95 in both strings configurations (my set-up: 63RA / 310g / 315mm / SW ~298), but I have recently switched to the new Vcore 95. Here's what I can say about it: it is more stable in stock form than the TC95, and doesn't have the very high launch angle of the 16x19 version, without being as low as the 18x20. It's middle of the road between the two. Power level is closer to the TC95 16x19 BUT the Vcore 95 does need 3-4g of lead in the hoop to get there, as its SW is lower in stock for than that of the TC95. In my case, I put 1g at 12 and 1.5g at 10 and 2 each (=4g total) and it is quite powerful in this configuration. Given the frames you like / use, this is probably a good pick, but you'll have to customize it some.

    How would you compare , performance and comfort wise the SV95 , to the 2023 VCore 95 , and which would you use ?
    Lastly what are the differences between the SV95 D vs. the VCore pro 97 , performance wise since the SV pros are not using the 97 ? This information would be useful .

      Vcore pro 97 needs be a whole different line because it’s not like the rest of the vcore line.

      I think the VCP97's flex are too soft for younger pros who seem to prefer the lower weight. Yonex doesn't seem to be interested in the older pro's (30+) who used soft racquets at heavy weights. Like I think Murray would use the VCP over anything else in the line, but that's only because he likes a heavy stick. I prefer almost everything about the new VC95. The only thing I like better about the SV is the raw feel, but the '23 VC feels connected enough to where its not a big deal for me.

      @@TennCom I would not doubt that they would try to bring back the feel of your most liked racquets , but while it makes sence to focus on players in there teens and 20's professionally , the market does not stay there into retirment from the game , yet the youth does direct or gets manipulated . They do direct the continuation of the markets .
      Focusing on a greater performance for a racquet size , most professionally are not using in there 20's and teens , would seem counter to ones statement that they do not care . They care when they can make a good amount of sales and or profits from it , till they no longer can . They would not create a new mold unless they saw a future in the new head shape .
      2024 will be a make or break for dunlop's cx 200 tour . They logically should work the string beds , and add spin grommeting with groove + features , but a 95 is questionable , since they have 98's to take there places .
      Personally while it makes sence for Dunlpp to go to a 98 , since they can not compete with Yonex in head shaping . A 97 would be nice to see , except that sizes keep going up while performance is lowered , as a crutch for players . This is why the Pro Staff v13 , from observational testing along with speaking to others , is the better performance version in which they will not be going back to for many years to come , as a retro technology , just like the version v14 went back too . End of an Era , racquet wise .

    It’s players that make the racket legendary, not the racket itself

    I've settled on the poly tour rev as my string of choice as it allows me to feel the ball pocketing. It's easy on the arm and doesn't feel like a wooden board or wet noodle. I think lately Ben Shelton is using it in the Ezone.
    As for the Vcore, I'm a proud owner of the 95D. Slapped on the Rev, a leather grip with overgrip 5/6ths of the way up, and I'm just a gaudy pair of shorts away from cosplaying as Stan the Man. Tried the SV95 which I liked but was too unforgiving, the 2018 that surprisingly felt like a dud, and the 2023 version that was immediately comfortable to hit. Ended up getting the 2023 Vcore 100 because I needed more help from the racket.

      I regret not buying those shorts more than I regret not buying the 95D

    2018 is still my pick. The thick beam width of the 2023 version is really disappointing as the racquet doesn't quite cut through the air, and manouverability is severely compromised.
    The beam width should be 20mm straight all over the shaft and head, like it is in the Vcore Pros

    When I hear an inveterate customizer say he enjoys playing a racquet in stock form, I take notice. I've never heard you speak this way about a sub-330-gram frame before. Seems I have to demo this 95 for myself...

    How does the babolat pure strike vs compares to vcore 95?

    • @TennCom
      @TennCom  8 месяцев назад

      the main difference is that 95 feels faster and more precise but the 97 has much better stability, especially off centre. Feel and comfort are quite similar.
