Quick note about the Graphene XT Speed MP. Ive personally found that the GXT Speed S is a little closer to the Graphene Touch Speed MP. IIRC its the same drill pattern, but a way lower twistweight (akin to sinners) and more similar characteristics with Sinners stick. Its worth checking out.
also, worth noting, the GXT Speed S beam profile is 22.5/22.5/22. GT Speed MP is 22 flat. So very slightly thicker. Again, otherwise, very similar characteristics
Is Sinner's TW supposed to be low? He has clearly some ~4g of lead between 3&9 and 2&10... That's 2 kg.cm2 extra or more. Also his swing style fits more with a high TW imo but maybe that's just autosuggestion if that's even a word.

And yeah I agree this is by far the most challenging racket I’ve ever used. The amount of wrist release you need to keep the ball in the court is outrageous. I break it out once a month as a yardstick for my progress but find it generally unusable.
Yeah if I was on Sinner's team a few years ago I probably would have suggested a new racquet because he was such an error machine, having tried his setup, it makes sense as to why. Seems like things are paying off now tho
Funny, I’ve never seen an interviewer get that in depth with questions about a pro’s racquet choice and set-up before. But in those clips the AO interviewer really dives deep into it in an almost nerdy or obsessive detail kind of way. You just don’t see that level of focus on equipment specifics from interviewers in similar equipment-sensitive sports like golf. I think it’s a good thing that there is more of a push for transparency and openness about the differences between what pros endorse and what they actually play with.
That’s Jim Courier, a retired US men’s player. He has conducted a lot of in-depth interviews at the AO. A few tennis podcasters pointed them out for being very interesting questions, like what you are noting. I recommend looking up his post-match interview with Medvedev where they get into his deep return of serve. It helps illuminate the genius/skill of the player.

It's fun to nerd out about this. For playing, most recreational players don't really need to customize their racquets; they can always just pick one with suitable weight and balance for them. Maybe if you don't want to pay for a new racquet, then customization makes sense. Otherwise, our playing levels are not so high to require a very fine-tuned racquet.
I've had all the graphene speed versions of the mp (and several pro) from the 2012 graphene v1 up to and including the 360+. At 360+ i made the switch to gravity for the thinner beam as the speed line gained 1 mm thicker beam from the 360 version and up which i didn't like. Of all the speed versions i had, i like the graphenext version the most (i have the ltd version). It doesn't feel like a 67 ra. I generally don't like stiffness beyond 64, but the graphenext speed mp feels like exactly that. 63 64 ra. I bought one back and bought some grommet sets for it to last a long time. Next to my gravity pro 360+ and my gravity mp auxetic. I recently also bought some radicals, but they feel stiffer than the speeds.
A guy that has worked on his frame told that racquet stiffness is around 60RA, which is by far lower than the Graphene Touch Speed MP, suggesting that is a mofified one.
dr325i is pretty insistent that its the same layup at the GT, and I tend to trust him, given that pro use could easily wear a racquet down from 64RA to 60RA from the constant stringing and all the force that gets applied from such heavy hitting. Still, since the paintjob hasnt changed, I wonder if he's using an old batch intentionally because the stiffness has dropped from use.
Everything you just said about that setup perfectly describes how my stock 2021 radical mp plays with tour m8 or sniper at 50lbs. What am I not getting about those grapplesnake strings (given you’re selling them)? I can’t hit the ball hard enough often enough to get the spin needed to keep the ball in. I don’t get that with alu power at 52lbs. Great video btw, well done with the research.
You should make a video about racket head shape. It’s one of the things I found makes a noticeable impact on my comfort w/ a racket, and I’d be curious to your take on
I bought two mint condition xt speed mps for 20 bucks each on the refurbished racket market in Japan. Insanely cheap listings on rakuten and I picked them up on holiday. Obv paying for shipping makes it infeasible but highly recommend to anyone visiting Japan.
He actually does play with a normal racket, i strung at miami open and saw his racket, its a head speed from the generation of shared holes, its not a pro custom, its a paint job yes...but that racket was available to the masses, you cant say the same about dimitrovs racket or azarenkas racket...
Interesting Vid Beckett, always good to see inside the circle, believe Murray still uses a 2012 Radical mold. But understand why companies constantly roll out new sticks, otherwise they would be scratching around for 10 years twiddling their thumbs. Have been playing with speed gt for several years without any modificaton and replaced it with Extreme tour. When I found out the Sinner specs I've tinkered it to 325, 33.9, 340 sw and it's completely different beast :) it won't let you cheat, but I feel that playing with it makes me a better player as I've to try harder. Also plow through and sound of hawk touch at higher tension is unbelievably satisfying
XT Speed MP. I think going with something that light hurts more than it helps. Based on your picture, I assume you are an able-bodied adult male, 295g-305g unstrung should be your target, as you'll get a nice combination of power and stability so you won't feel light you have to rip the felt off the ball to hurt your opponent.

Hey Beckett, I’m wondering between the pure aero 98 and the speed mp, I want a racquet that has good directional control, with a lower launch angle then average, some free power with it, good manoeuvrability and torsionally stable and i can also control how much topspin i play with or how much topspin i apply.

I'm really interested in the Grapplesnake Tour M8 but I'm also super curious about some poly hybrids, like the Wasabi Pro, Restring Zero/Sync, Zero/Wasabi X, M8/Wasabi X... any thoughts on your favorite setup with my racket when wanting to prioritize comfort, spin, and playability duration? I don't really break strings, but I hate when stringbeds get inconsistent over time and I don't restring as often as I should. I'm used to HyperG 17 @50lbs but your videos have really inspired me to look into more modern strings. Thanks!
If I want to hit the ball like a sinner Should I use the version that sinner uses? Or is it better to just use the latest version? Which version of the head speed mp do you feel is the best? I am currently using head gravity pro as you recommended last time.
The newest version Speed does have a very similar swingfeel to the GT version in the video but if the end-goal is Sinner, I think you should go with the old GT. I don't have an opinion on which Speed is best as I don't have much experience with the different generations of Speed.
ye its the SW1, I ordered it from Briffidi as I don't have a 3D printer. To my knowledge its the only machine that works with iPhone and it should work with any newish one. Mine is the 13 Pro and its been perfect.

Hawk Touch is extremely meh and I probably preferred Lynx Tour but they didnt play or feel that different tbh because the racquet really dominates the experience

I think if you could get an Extreme Tour that would work really well. Sometimes I struggle with the Radical MP because its hard to generate a lot of top spin and create space over the net. The new Boom MP also plays surprisingly nicely and I prefer it to the new Speed.
Our fellow YT brother; Justin, from; Time410s, (I know you guys are tennis bros) bought a Head Speed XT Graphene (which I own 2 of and 2 MPA's) to see what all the Sinner hoopla is about... Let's say it didn't go over to well... (He'll have a video out about it shortly) The dead giveaway was when he sent it back to TW at loss 🙄 even though the racquet only cost $99. I guess Toroline and Restring couldn't even save the racquet 😂 YIKES!
You get some holibirds titanium 17 mains at 65lbs and some zyex multifilament 51 lbs crosses on a prince diamond / T6 / one of the three piece wilsons, or just throw the piggy bank on the floor and buy a candy bar. Get a serena williams candy trainer in 4 & 1/4 grip with a russian chinese sweaty dog regrip. Never used weight, the idea is instead a wilson hyper hammer, where your purpose is to get ahead of its oblate 9.2 oploid, its actually hyperbolic, its a candy bar.
I bought a second-hand Touch MP. Not only because I'm a Sinner fan, but also because I've been playing the previous version myself for some time (XT Speed MP). Also with the "shared holes", same mould. In my opinion, this racket is really good, especially if you like to play with TopSpin and therefore want to accelerate the racket head quickly. In my opinion, the racket is not designed for straight strokes. I only have one problem. According to dr325i or your video, 301.1/2 is supposed to be the Graphene XT layup and 301.4/5 the Graphene Touch layup. As I am now going to change the grip panels, I was naturally curious to find out what is underneath. It says TGK 301.18. According to dr325i, that would actually be the XT layup. How can that be if it is 100% a Head Touch MP racket? If any data is needed from the Speed XT MP or Touch MP, please let me know. By the way, doesn't Jannik play the Head Hawk Touch in 1.30mm gauge (16G)? And yes, this string is available, at least in Europe.
Why would one want to configure their racket like their favorite pro when you don’t play like them. Determine what fits you and configure it accordingly
This is the perhaps the biggest open "secret" in tennis, that everyone just accepts, I mean it's false advertising. Obviously the Pro's are not changing their rackets every year just so that the tennis manufacturers can sell more rackets. Let's get some class action lawsuits going so we can finally find out what everyone is actually using!
Sometimes corporations will get someone to instigate a class action just so they can drop it at the last minute. It works to give the public the illusion of accountability. This happened with lead in chocolate, I think. Some random person will sue and then mysteriously drop the case for no reason in the 11th hour.
Graphene touch, limited edition. I've had that version as well. I now have the limited edition of the graphenext (version before the touch) which is a little bit less muted which i like.
I feel there is more to Sinners racket then this, the amount of ball speed he is able to produce is ridiculous. If you watch his matches, the ball travels 30-40% faster than the other players are able to, without a noticeable difference in stoke speed or swing style...
None of top player’s racket is commercialized. Babolat Nadal uses is totally different than they sell on public. Same for Federer and Djokovic. All these players’ rackets are custom made
It’s seems as if the traditional set-up for better plays has of heavier static weight with a low balance headlight balance is changing. Seems like many are finding it’s possible to have a light static weight with a more head heavy balance and higher swing weight. One racket comes to mind that plays close to his specs stock… the Tfight 305. What are your thoughts Beckett? You and Luca are lucky to be close to each other. 😢 I want Tennis Bro’s… lol.
To be honest, what's the point of checking what kind of racket the pros play with? Even if you had the same racket, shoes, clothes and bags, you wouldn't play like them. Most likely you would just get an awful arm pain, becuse you're not a pro. Get what suits you and don't care about the stickers or paint. If want to play better, train more.
What's the point of getting better at tennis for rec players? Its not like we can make money, there's always going to be someone better, going to the gym has better ROI on fitness, you can still be social at low levels. But the journey to self improvement is fun, challenging and interesting. Same with trying different racquets or exploring how top players get the most out of their equipment. Must people who like racquets aren't expecting it to actually improve their games, its more about the fun of exploring new experiences on the tennis court.
@@TennCom There is a lot of fun and satisfaction in getting better at anything. But trying to use the same equipment as a pro will most likely bring you more harm than fun and pleasure. If you want to find the best equipment for you, test some racquets and different strings and pick what feels right for you regardless if some pro is using it or not. I come from another sport and during my teen years I was also looking at the equipment the top players played with. Once I've received the equipment for free, I've just tested what feels best for me and played with it. Regardless of the price or paint.

If your time and money is worth it, than keep enjoying it. I would prefer to spend the time with training using the equipment, which suits my level of play, but that's just my approach.
You can create an even better racquet than Sinner's but using a Sinner-esque spec: • Head Liquidmetal Radical MP • 325g static • 33.7cm balance • 342 swing-weight (6g lead at 12; 4g lead at 3 and 9; 12g lead in handle) Given that it’s a) 18x20 pattern and b) better than the Speed MP anyway, you can really swing hard and keep the ball in
@@TennCom Good question. Last year, Sinner was getting around 2,925rpm on his average forehand and 2,040rpm on his backhand. That´s a bit lower than guys like Ruud, Berrettini, Musetti, Alcaraz, Kecmanovic, etc, and a few others who are around 3,100-3,300 (forehand), and quite a lot of guys who hit 2,200-2,700 on their backhands. According to everyone in-the-know, he´s adding significantly more power to the above. Not that he needs it - he seems to be terminating everyone at the moment 6-1 / 6-2
@@livingtribunal4110 time will tell to determine how repeatable his clutch factor is, we haven't seen anyone with such a light racquet dominate for an extended period of time. I tend to think the heavy sticks are contributing factors to the big 3+2's consistency but who knows, times are changing.
Sinner is lying! LOL Most pros are usually prostock frames that they customize to their own specs, except for a few, such as Alcarez, as far as I know!

The secret is he would not be playing if it weren’t for the artificial equipment in todays game. The 1HBH should be a requirement for all players with certain exceptions. If they cannot perform it and compete with a 1HBH then they do not belong in tennis. The other requirement should be all players must use a 85 SI 12 ounce wood racket with gut strings only. If they are not talented enough to compete using it then they will not be able to continue on the tour. Tennis has turned into a child’s game and the tennis body has decided that taking bribes from the racket and string manufacturers lobbyists is in their interest as opposed to preserving the originality and uniqueness of the game. Real sports have associations that prevent artificial means into their sports as it only serves to diminish the game and enhance the stats artificially. It also preserves that the player must bring upon the skill needed and it’s not given to them which is what tennis bas done today. Tennis today has hundreds of players in the so called ‘pro’ ranks that would not be able to play pro tennis if they had their equipment replaced with ‘real’ equipment. The stats today are all skewed due to the artificial equipment. Real sports like the MLB NFL NHL have strong leaders who restrict artificial means, their position is to maintain their game and not artificially water it down. Tennis has no such rule.
Nothing wrong with two-handed strokes. Wilmot the physics guy, said two-handed strokes are actually more mechanically sound for the body. Evert was a beast in the WTA on clay with her two-handed backhand during her prime. World's largest producer of bagels. She even double-bageled Navratilova. All that with a 65 sq in Wilson Pro Staff that had no graphite reinforcement. I think your post is on the right track, though. Men's tennis should have a max head size of 80, should use graphite-reinforced wood or bamboo (bamboo is more sustainable), and the strings should be either gut or Zyex. This is for the pro circuit only. Rec players can use whatever their league allows. Women's tennis should have a max size of 90 sq in, using the same materials. For mixed doubles only, women should be able to use up to a 110 sq in frame. Again, all this is for pro circuit only. Rec players can use whatever their league allows. Personally, I think rec leagues should use the same standard, with the exception of elderly and handicapped players being allowed to use up to super-oversize frames.
Let's focus on skills and not on equipment. The "standard" rackets you can buy are exceptionally good. It's better to stick with one racket instead of modifying or changing it every six months because you think there's something better. If you want something different, do a paintjob.
If he had to use the actual tennis equipment that all the greats used in the 80’s, you would find out his performance drops 75%+. This is a fact. As well as for all the so called pros. They are mostly playing due to the artificial equipment. Just look at all the channels devoted to rackets and strings. They are all nuts. They just have this and that. And yet the actual ability should be coming from within. Most tennis players are not really athletic. They are crafty but the equipment is providing the control and the top spin and the power to them. These are facts. Just look at the amateur world. It won’t hurt for them to adopt all these configurations but they are fooling themselves. The equipment gives them all a false impression that they can do something they really cannot.
The 80s saw the rise of the serve bot because midsize graphite racquets made the serve too dominant on fast courts. A better solution is to have 80 sq in frames for the men's game that are primarily wood (or bamboo), but with graphite reinforcement to prevent/reduce warp. The graphite would also help to cure a problem with pure wood frames which is that they are more erratic because of their excessive flex. It would also make them more resistant to warp and breaking from stress. The extra bit of power from the graphite would also be good, without degrading the game like the current frames do. The optimal tennis equipment has a small (standard plus or sub mid) head but more stability than 100% wood with fiberglass facing offers. Even a T-2000 (with the throat welds) is more optimal than a pure 65 sq in wood because the steel offers more power. The combination of wood (or bamboo) and graphite reinforcement would rebalance the game, with an 80 sq in head size - so that serve/volley would be more viable as a real strategy, not a trick people pull out of their hats once in a while. It would reduce the injury rate because excessively stiff string materials like poly would be useless and the racquets would dissipate and absorb more shock (flex + mass).
@ 👍👍👍. Tennis is lost now due to this horrid equipment. There are no standards in tennis. The industry has gone nuts. 100 years ago the MLB was using solid wood bats, 100 years later they are using solid wood bats. The talent has to come from the player. They have standards. Tennis has none.

Have been playing with speed gt for several years without any modificaton and replaced it with Extreme tour. When I found out the Sinner specs I've tinkered it to 325, 33.9, 340 sw and it's completely different beast :) it won't let you cheat, but I feel that playing with it makes me a better player as I've to try harder. Also plow through and sound of hawk touch at higher tension is unbelievably satisfying

XT Speed MP. I think going with something that light hurts more than it helps. Based on your picture, I assume you are an able-bodied adult male, 295g-305g unstrung should be your target, as you'll get a nice combination of power and stability so you won't feel light you have to rip the felt off the ball to hurt your opponent.

Great insightful video! I’ve recently acquired a set of Tour M8 1.25mm strings. Currently, I use a Pro Staff v14 97, strung with Solinco Confidential 1.25mm (16L) at 51lbs. Given this setup, could you recommend an optimal tension for stringing with the Tour M8 (im an all court player if that helps)?

Hey Beckett, I’m wondering between the pure aero 98 and the speed mp, I want a racquet that has good directional control, with a lower launch angle then average, some free power with it, good manoeuvrability and torsionally stable and i can also control how much topspin i play with or how much topspin i apply.
I’m also considering the percept 100D, or do you recommend another racquet, nothing over 330 swing weight or 305 static weight
100D checks the boxes you laid out a little better. Also look at the Extreme Pro.

The newest version Speed does have a very similar swingfeel to the GT version in the video but if the end-goal is Sinner, I think you should go with the old GT. I don't have an opinion on which Speed is best as I don't have much experience with the different generations of Speed.

ye its the SW1, I ordered it from Briffidi as I don't have a 3D printer. To my knowledge its the only machine that works with iPhone and it should work with any newish one. Mine is the 13 Pro and its been perfect.

Hawk Touch is extremely meh and I probably preferred Lynx Tour but they didnt play or feel that different tbh because the racquet really dominates the experience

I supposed in some ways (swingwight, beam width) but they play completely differently due to the weight and stiffness of the RF.

I think if you could get an Extreme Tour that would work really well. Sometimes I struggle with the Radical MP because its hard to generate a lot of top spin and create space over the net. The new Boom MP also plays surprisingly nicely and I prefer it to the new Speed.

Both 2022 and 2024 Head Speeds have matte white paint and gloss black, just like JS's racket.

You get some holibirds titanium 17 mains at 65lbs and some zyex multifilament 51 lbs crosses on a prince diamond / T6 / one of the three piece wilsons, or just throw the piggy bank on the floor and buy a candy bar. Get a serena williams candy trainer in 4 & 1/4 grip with a russian chinese sweaty dog regrip. Never used weight, the idea is instead a wilson hyper hammer, where your purpose is to get ahead of its oblate 9.2 oploid, its actually hyperbolic, its a candy bar.

I bought a second-hand Touch MP. Not only because I'm a Sinner fan, but also because I've been playing the previous version myself for some time (XT Speed MP). Also with the "shared holes", same mould. In my opinion, this racket is really good, especially if you like to play with TopSpin and therefore want to accelerate the racket head quickly. In my opinion, the racket is not designed for straight strokes. I only have one problem. According to dr325i or your video, 301.1/2 is supposed to be the Graphene XT layup and 301.4/5 the Graphene Touch layup.
As I am now going to change the grip panels, I was naturally curious to find out what is underneath. It says TGK 301.18.
According to dr325i, that would actually be the XT layup. How can that be if it is 100% a Head Touch MP racket?

This is the perhaps the biggest open "secret" in tennis, that everyone just accepts, I mean it's false advertising. Obviously the Pro's are not changing their rackets every year just so that the tennis manufacturers can sell more rackets. Let's get some class action lawsuits going so we can finally find out what everyone is actually using!
we did get some class actions in the 2000s but all that happened was stores and manufacturers had to start saying "endorse" instead of "use"
Sometimes corporations will get someone to instigate a class action just so they can drop it at the last minute. It works to give the public the illusion of accountability. This happened with lead in chocolate, I think. Some random person will sue and then mysteriously drop the case for no reason in the 11th hour.

I feel there is more to Sinners racket then this, the amount of ball speed he is able to produce is ridiculous. If you watch his matches, the ball travels 30-40% faster than the other players are able to, without a noticeable difference in stoke speed or swing style...
None of top player’s racket is commercialized. Babolat Nadal uses is totally different than they sell on public. Same for Federer and Djokovic. All these players’ rackets are custom made

It’s seems as if the traditional set-up for better plays has of heavier static weight with a low balance headlight balance is changing. Seems like many are finding it’s possible to have a light static weight with a more head heavy balance and higher swing weight. One racket comes to mind that plays close to his specs stock… the Tfight 305. What are your thoughts Beckett? You and Luca are lucky to be close to each other. 😢 I want Tennis Bro’s… lol.

Even if you had the same racket, shoes, clothes and bags, you wouldn't play like them.
Most likely you would just get an awful arm pain, becuse you're not a pro.
Get what suits you and don't care about the stickers or paint.
If want to play better, train more.
What's the point of getting better at tennis for rec players? Its not like we can make money, there's always going to be someone better, going to the gym has better ROI on fitness, you can still be social at low levels. But the journey to self improvement is fun, challenging and interesting. Same with trying different racquets or exploring how top players get the most out of their equipment. Must people who like racquets aren't expecting it to actually improve their games, its more about the fun of exploring new experiences on the tennis court.

But trying to use the same equipment as a pro will most likely bring you more harm than fun and pleasure.
If you want to find the best equipment for you, test some racquets and different strings and pick what feels right for you regardless if some pro is using it or not.
I come from another sport and during my teen years I was also looking at the equipment the top players played with. Once I've received the equipment for free, I've just tested what feels best for me and played with it. Regardless of the price or paint.

If your time and money is worth it, than keep enjoying it. I would prefer to spend the time with training using the equipment, which suits my level of play, but that's just my approach.

Last year, Sinner was getting around 2,925rpm on his average forehand and 2,040rpm on his backhand.
That´s a bit lower than guys like Ruud, Berrettini, Musetti, Alcaraz, Kecmanovic, etc, and a few others who are around 3,100-3,300 (forehand), and quite a lot of guys who hit 2,200-2,700 on their backhands.
According to everyone in-the-know, he´s adding significantly more power to the above.

@@livingtribunal4110 time will tell to determine how repeatable his clutch factor is, we haven't seen anyone with such a light racquet dominate for an extended period of time. I tend to think the heavy sticks are contributing factors to the big 3+2's consistency but who knows, times are changing.

The secret is he would not be playing if it weren’t for the artificial equipment in todays game. The 1HBH should be a requirement for all players with certain exceptions. If they cannot perform it and compete with a 1HBH then they do not belong in tennis. The other requirement should be all players must use a 85 SI 12 ounce wood racket with gut strings only. If they are not talented enough to compete using it then they will not be able to continue on the tour. Tennis has turned into a child’s game and the tennis body has decided that taking bribes from the racket and string manufacturers lobbyists is in their interest as opposed to preserving the originality and uniqueness of the game. Real sports have associations that prevent artificial means into their sports as it only serves to diminish the game and enhance the stats artificially. It also preserves that the player must bring upon the skill needed and it’s not given to them which is what tennis bas done today. Tennis today has hundreds of players in the so called ‘pro’ ranks that would not be able to play pro tennis if they had their equipment replaced with ‘real’ equipment. The stats today are all skewed due to the artificial equipment. Real sports like the MLB NFL NHL have strong leaders who restrict artificial means, their position is to maintain their game and not artificially water it down. Tennis has no such rule.
Nothing wrong with two-handed strokes. Wilmot the physics guy, said two-handed strokes are actually more mechanically sound for the body. Evert was a beast in the WTA on clay with her two-handed backhand during her prime. World's largest producer of bagels. She even double-bageled Navratilova. All that with a 65 sq in Wilson Pro Staff that had no graphite reinforcement. I think your post is on the right track, though. Men's tennis should have a max head size of 80, should use graphite-reinforced wood or bamboo (bamboo is more sustainable), and the strings should be either gut or Zyex. This is for the pro circuit only. Rec players can use whatever their league allows. Women's tennis should have a max size of 90 sq in, using the same materials. For mixed doubles only, women should be able to use up to a 110 sq in frame. Again, all this is for pro circuit only. Rec players can use whatever their league allows. Personally, I think rec leagues should use the same standard, with the exception of elderly and handicapped players being allowed to use up to super-oversize frames.
Let's focus on skills and not on equipment. The "standard" rackets you can buy are exceptionally good. It's better to stick with one racket instead of modifying or changing it every six months because you think there's something better. If you want something different, do a paintjob.

Are they? I used to follow tennis equipment closely and almost all of the racquets released were too light.
If he had to use the actual tennis equipment that all the greats used in the 80’s, you would find out his performance drops 75%+. This is a fact. As well as for all the so called pros. They are mostly playing due to the artificial equipment. Just look at all the channels devoted to rackets and strings. They are all nuts. They just have this and that. And yet the actual ability should be coming from within. Most tennis players are not really athletic. They are crafty but the equipment is providing the control and the top spin and the power to them. These are facts. Just look at the amateur world. It won’t hurt for them to adopt all these configurations but they are fooling themselves. The equipment gives them all a false impression that they can do something they really cannot.
The 80s saw the rise of the serve bot because midsize graphite racquets made the serve too dominant on fast courts. A better solution is to have 80 sq in frames for the men's game that are primarily wood (or bamboo), but with graphite reinforcement to prevent/reduce warp. The graphite would also help to cure a problem with pure wood frames which is that they are more erratic because of their excessive flex. It would also make them more resistant to warp and breaking from stress. The extra bit of power from the graphite would also be good, without degrading the game like the current frames do. The optimal tennis equipment has a small (standard plus or sub mid) head but more stability than 100% wood with fiberglass facing offers. Even a T-2000 (with the throat welds) is more optimal than a pure 65 sq in wood because the steel offers more power. The combination of wood (or bamboo) and graphite reinforcement would rebalance the game, with an 80 sq in head size - so that serve/volley would be more viable as a real strategy, not a trick people pull out of their hats once in a while. It would reduce the injury rate because excessively stiff string materials like poly would be useless and the racquets would dissipate and absorb more shock (flex + mass).
