Definitely more power than the Radical. Up there with the Pure Strike, if not slightly more powerful. 330 might be a bit much but you can go for a thinner string to lighten the head. Tennis Warehouse measures their racquets with 16g poly (1.30) so if you go for 18g (1.20 or less) that will help.
Great tip on TW measuring with 1.30 poly strings. Thanks for sharing Beckett. Have you tried the PA98 with same tension on the mains and crosses? How did you like it?
PA98 is the best racquet I ever played against weaker players, but against those better than me it doesn't help a bit. So I guess the trick to use PA 98 is simply being better than everyone else like Alcaraz does😅
Nice video, as usual! How do you feel the PA98 fares into your 98’ tier list? Also, how do you see it compared to the Ezone 98 and the ‘21 VCP 97’ 310 for allcourt attacking game?
I think the PA98 deserves S Tier personally. Its a very impressive racquet. More spin, power and stability than the EZONE or VCP. Less feel that both I think. Control is probably the worst on the Aero, but its not such a big deal for me because I was hitting so much spin that I could use safe targets and really punish my opponent, whereas with the EZONE, in stock form, I never felt like I could do damage against a decent player
ezone is only good on serve, when u accelerate on gorundtroke its not really that good, I used the aero series for over 5 years and loved it, I only switched to the wilson blade series because I became a much better player
Babolat are also seeing the their ´golden goose´, Rafael Nadal will be gone next year so they asbolutely NEED a new face to sell their racquets from 2024 onwards.
The Burn 95 or the Ultra 95 (both discontinued) are both that same racquet in different paint. You might be able to find some decent ones used on Ebay. The closest modern equivalent is probably something like the EZONE Tour or Prostaff 97.
Hi! Sorry to ask a question that you might have answered in a vid (I haven't found one): What do you think about using the Clash 100 pro as a high level racket not focusing on arm comfort? I have always played well with it but I was wondering if it may be putting me at a disadvantage against my high school opponents. I use hyper g in it at 52lbs and I just never thought about my racket until recently. Also, if you so think that it might be putting me at a disadvantage, are there any modification that could help?
I think it flexes too much at high level play which can lead to an inconsistent response. You can't really fix it because its to do with the graphite. If you like the racquet, you can totally win with it. Last month I lost to a 16 year old who used one so its not like it matters that much.
i bought the team version and found the frame is quite flexible. i haven't tried the 98 so idk how to compare. i also strung it with tour bite diamond rough at 52 lbs. i get a lot of power, control (unless i'm swinging hard, which i don't need to), but not a lot of feel. i'm thinking about trying a softer string, but not sure. i am adding lead little by little to see if i can find a balance and weight i like. my other racquet is the 2023 rafa strung with solinco x natural which i love for ground strokes but can't generate a lot of power on serve.
@@TennCom i might try that, thank you! do you know what the difference between using the xnat in the mains and diamond in the crosses as opposed to the other way around?
I always had control issues with the 2019 PA 100. The pattern was so open but I could swing it that fast on my FH to get enough spin to bring it down into the court. I prefer the 2023. I do have a big history on all the Aeros that you might like! ruclips.net/video/gVEMNw9u76E/видео.html

Hey Beckett. I just purchased the PA98 after watching your feedback on it. I strung it with RPM Blast 1.20 gauge with a tension of 52lb. (I'm a UTR4.5 player). ReaIly stable and powerful racquet! I however find it very stiff and unforgiving especially if I miss the sweet spot. Any advice on an alternative string setup? Thanks!
I've had really good success with Toroline Wasabi. The spin and control are very close to RPM Blast imo but its quite a bit softer for the vibrations. I think you can get a set from them for a low a $6 from their website and you can use my discount code on top of that (link in desc). If that doesn't work for you, I'd try either Polytour Pro or Hyper-G Soft.
smaller grips allow for more wrist mobility and larger grips feel more stability because you can apply more torque to the racquet. I think its largely preference though, like Fed uses 3/8 and Dimi uses 5/8 even though they look quite similar
I'm very much on the cusp of buying an aero 98. I love RPM blast and prefer it over rough on all the racquets I've tried it on, but I'm wondering if you think I should try a toro string like wasabi or caviar or something else with it?
I only tried ReString Zero in the Pro, but I really liked Grapplesnake Alpha in the MP. Tour Bite Soft could also work well if Grapplesnake isn't accessible to you. Or Signum Pro Firestorm.
Beckett, I’ve tried every racquet out there except for the aero 98. I am playing with the Shift 300, love it on my forehand, a little shaky on my OHB … How is the aero 98 regarding flat shots, and how different is it from the Shift? ciao, John
In a bit of adventure myself, want to get PA98 but never use Babolat before. I am really interested in Speed Pro, PS X, and Radical MP. Do you have some insights?
Hi Beckett! What do you think about switching from APD2013 to PA98? My first option was PA100 but those extra 5g/more control make me doubt. Is PA98 much more demanding? Wich one do You like more? Thanks a lot and big hug from Argentina 🇦🇷
I like the PA98 a lot. I honestly might like it even more than the 2013 APD or 2010 APDGT. Its definitely hefty if you get one on-spec. Its not the 5g so much as it is the swingweight. Avg SW on the 2013 APD is like under 320 and the PA98 is 330. Thats a huge difference, but you never know, it could unlock some extra power in your game
HI guys i just got pure aero 98 what string is best? im an intermidiate - advanced middle schoooler who starts training with varsity next year so i need to get lots more power
I used Speed Pros for years but their feel has changed so I tried other racquets and found the PA98 quite sensational and as a person that struggled with elbow pain I don’t see this racquet ever causing issues as the feel is so clean and zero impact on my arm…I’m curious what tension people use that are getting pain, I’ve dropped to 48lbs and think I’ll go even lower, so much better feel
My hypothesis is that elbow pain is less related to stiffness and vibration and more related to how a certain racquet influences a player's technique. I got some wrist pain from using Silver 7 Tour at 52lbs, but it only started into the 3rd straight hour of tennis so part of the story is fatigue as well.
@@TennCom yeh it’s a strange one, I got instant pain after my first few shots with Vcore 97D@48lbs which is a really flexible racquet and I’ve felt zero discomfort with the PA98 and Pure Strike…I must say though my second time hitting with the 97D I didn’t get pain so maybe I wasn’t warmed up or something just tweaked that day
Great review! I just recently started playing again, I am really curious about this racket but wonder if it is too advanced for me and should go back to my pure drive
if it makes you excited to play, I think its a great choice. Its not that hard to use and we are all rec players anyway, how cares as long as we are having fun right?
Have you tried restring zero with this? For more dwell n feeling with stiffer frames i use 44lbbs mains n 42 cross...try it low with testring for more dwell n feel
I think there are other strings that play better for longer that will work better for us mortals who don't get new strings every set. My fav (that I tried) was Toroline Wasabi in the red colour.
Thanks 😅 gonna try full bed of wasabi 125 in it next week. Coming from the Ezone 100 after your recommendation but after about a month hitting with it I just felt like it was just too powerful even if I tried my hardest to put topspin some balls were flying long I don’t really like not having confidence to swing out
I've only hit with it for a few minute and I just couldn't connect with the SX Tour. It felt so sluggish and stiff. I like the FX 500 Tour better. Really reminds me a lot of the Aero VS.
The 100 feels more clunky and soft on contact. Its a little less connected feeling i think. Will probably do a standalone comparison video for these two
@@p4r4n0id_4ndr0id SAME! This and Radical MP too! I also love the paint on the MP more so I'm leaning more towards the MP too. But when I watch Alcaraz like damn I wan't to play with that racquet as well! I'll wait for Beckett's reply first.
If in doubt, I think the Radical is a safer choice due to comfort. The Radical gave me the same kind of attacking confidence that the Aero has, but the feel is way more connect.
@@TennCom thank you so much! just decided and will go for the Radical. Also watching your "Can This String FIX the Radical MP Auxetic?" for string tips. 😁
Would you recommend smaller grip size for this racket or bigger? It’s little interesting Carlos is using 4 1/2 whereas many taller players are using 4 3/8. Also, could you compare this racket with Blade Pro 16x19? Thanks in advance!😊
Gravity MP with size #3 stock grip + 2 overgrips feels same size as Pure Strike VS #4 stock leather grip +1 overgrip. Realised that while demoing gravity mp racket (tw didn't offer #4) and kinda liked that setup so I bought the racket with #3 instead of #4. But i checked the math. Turns out Head set up has bigger circumference than Babolat. So it depends on grip set up.
@@robalberts100%, I used Heads for the last 20yrs with grip 41/2 and now bought a Pure Strike and PA98 and the 41/2 is annoyingly bigger in the Babolats
Because people who know how to play don't give a shit what they play, they are only interested in hard training. People who can't play prefer to talk about rackets instead of training
I also play the PA98 and am very very satisfied with the racket. I just haven't found the right string yet. I try to avoid strings that are too stiff because of arm pain. Therefore, I mainly play the Mayami Tour Hex. But it lacks conectivity. The Toroline strings are looking promising, but they are not available in Europe.
I think Grapplesnake Tour M8 at like 42lbs would play pretty nicely. Have you tried any of the RS strings? I haven't due to availability in NA, but I've heard they have really good feel.
You almost got me! In the video I say UNSTRUNG. If you check Babolat's website, they quote a 71RA. I am aware that some outlets are quoting 65 strung but I don't think that's a clear representation of the playability of the racquet. Further, if the targeted RA is 71, its more than possible those retail outlets got samples with poor QC, as RA can vary significantly in either direction.
@@TennCom but the Radical MP 2023 also has a Strung Flex Rating of 65, so this should not be a lot more stiff, my point is that the flex rating is kind of similar. The Solinco White Out is 66 Strung, again no one complains about it's stiffness, maybe is a thing of feel that the stiffness number does not reflects.
The feel of the frame is soul-less. I had the same issue with it. Plays great though, I just hated the feel so much that I had no interest in using it after a while.
VCORE is way softer feeling and lower power. The stringbed is less consistent, but its better for playing loopy tennis, whereas the PA98 makes you strike through every ball
The EZONE is more accessible if you have slower swingspeeds, but I dont think the control is as precise if you an advanced player. Spin definitely goes to the Aero.
The pure aero is just a very bad racquet, and babolat did not sell it well until Alcaraz got successful with it. The conclusion is not that this is a winner racquet, meaning it is reliable and predictable. Because Alcaraz performances were so surprisingly up and down, not only in tournaments, but also in matches, and above all within the sets. And that is exactly what this racquet feels like : unpredictable. In fact, we have to consider Alcaraz failures, knowing his potential. How many more wins would he have achieved with a more predictable racket.
I struggled to drink the kool-aid at the start too but you can see that he gets pushed around a bit by bit hitters like Djoker or Sinner and he can't really just bunt shots back. He has to swing on everyshot, which is why hit hits such epic winners, but it also makes it hard for him to find consistency on off-days. Plus we haven't seen any evidence which supports the use of weight. All the RDC measurements I've seen from stringers at slams say 327 SW strung.
Do we know if he uses the latest model 2023 or the previous one?
Based on the grommets, it looks like he's using the new one. The VS has spin grommets at 12 and 6, the 98 has regular grommets everywhere. For 2023, looks like he switched to the new grommets.

Babolat seriously lucking out with these endorsements
TennCon: I'm coming back to tennis after a few years off (life, y'know?). Is there anything close to a Wilson nCode nTour nowadays?
@@TennCom Ok thanks for the quick response!
@@jimmyjoe6721 anytime I also try to answer as many questions as I can!
i bought the team version and found the frame is quite flexible. i haven't tried the 98 so idk how to compare. i also strung it with tour bite diamond rough at 52 lbs. i get a lot of power, control (unless i'm swinging hard, which i don't need to), but not a lot of feel. i'm thinking about trying a softer string, but not sure. i am adding lead little by little to see if i can find a balance and weight i like. my other racquet is the 2023 rafa strung with solinco x natural which i love for ground strokes but can't generate a lot of power on serve.
maybe try a hyrbid of xnatural and diamond rough with xnat in the mains
@@TennCom i might try that, thank you! do you know what the difference between using the xnat in the mains and diamond in the crosses as opposed to the other way around?
Hi. Can you compare it to the Tecnifiber Tfight ISO 300?
Have you tried that one?
sadly i havent tried that one yet
Those would be great to compare
what's the best string for this rackett????
Hey Beckett, how does the previous aero 100 2021 compare? Would think a good bit more spin/power and similarly consistent stringbed?
I always had control issues with the 2019 PA 100. The pattern was so open but I could swing it that fast on my FH to get enough spin to bring it down into the court. I prefer the 2023. I do have a big history on all the Aeros that you might like! ruclips.net/video/gVEMNw9u76E/видео.html
Extreme auxetic 98 or babolat pure aero 98? Thanks!!! Excelent video
For its the Aero all day
@@TennCom So is the pure aero 98 better than the 100 version? more control and more stability? How would you describe the 98, since in the video it seems to be the best current racket on the market! you are hitting wonderfully
How the twist weight on the pure aero 98?
from the look at the grommets at 6 o'clock...he is using the previous PA98. It has the wider spin grommets not the narrow ones that are on the 2022 PA 98
to my eye they look like the narrow grommets
I’m still skeptical that Carlos uses a sub 330 swingweight. I know what Babolat Official say, but I’m still skeptical.
as you should be, how can we trust these manufacturers when its in their best interest to lie?
Im fighting / learning with PA 98 after change from Wilson Bv7 98 and customization added 10grams and keep balance on 315 is much better. STability but still cannot find good hybrid for spin and muted power, tried Solinco rout bite 125 with Vaguish on 25x24 and it was perfect. What is your recom. hybrid to be more spin and less power :) thanks
I think you gotta go full poly to get the most out of the PA 98. Tour Bite Soft and drop the tension down to 23.
@@TennCom thank you for response, but lower tension on soft poly could happen too much trampoline I think. I had a rpm blast 1.25 on 24 23 kg and it was without control and long...😎
Hey Beckett.
If that doesn't work for you, I'd try either Polytour Pro or Hyper-G Soft.
is there a difference in playability between 4 3/8 and 4 1/2? I heard Alcaraz and FAA uses 4 1/2 which surprised me. I myself use 4 3/8
smaller grips allow for more wrist mobility and larger grips feel more stability because you can apply more torque to the racquet.
Of the Toroline stuff I liked Wasabi the best in the PA98, but I think overall I like ReString SYnc the most of all the strings I've tried.
@@TennCom okay thanks!
Hey.. qq. For Radical Pro 2023, which string you suggest and tension?
I only tried ReString Zero in the Pro, but I really liked Grapplesnake Alpha in the MP. Tour Bite Soft could also work well if Grapplesnake isn't accessible to you. Or Signum Pro Firestorm.
Thank you ! I bought pro, but after watching your videos, now I think I should have gone with MP. 😢
@@vykes21 watch MP Tennis’ videos instead he switched to the Pro. It will reaffirm your purchase hahaha
Lol yeah.. I saw that whole drama 😂
Beckett, I’ve tried every racquet out there except for the aero 98. I am playing with the Shift 300, love it on my forehand, a little shaky on my OHB … How is the aero 98 regarding flat shots, and how different is it from the Shift? ciao, John
The Aero plays a lot more consistently than the Shift. The flex is very uniform which makes every type of shot very predictable.
In a bit of adventure myself, want to get PA98 but never use Babolat before. I am really interested in Speed Pro, PS X, and Radical MP. Do you have some insights?

"NTRP 3.5 and Falling BECKET CHUNG"
Bwahahahahhahahahhaah! I laughed out loud on this one, good job!
@@TennCom Again, thank you!!
HI guys i just got pure aero 98 what string is best? im an intermidiate - advanced middle schoooler who starts training with varsity next year so i need to get lots more power
I like Toroline Wasabi in the Aero 98
@@TennCom my options are solicono hyper G and Babolat RMP blast
I just recently started playing again, I am really curious about this racket but wonder if it is too advanced for me and should go back to my pure drive
try both
if it makes you excited to play, I think its a great choice. Its not that hard to use and we are all rec players anyway, how cares as long as we are having fun right?
Have you tried restring zero with this? For more dwell n feeling with stiffer frames i use 44lbbs mains n 42 cross...try it low with testring for more dwell n feel
No but I think Zero would be too launchy with this stick, given that I can barely control it at 52lbs in my WHiteout
What is the closest racquet to the original pure aero drive
Pure Aero Rafa 290 imo
I too use a full bed of Diadem Solstice Power with my PA VS. The spin is crazy, but unintentional flat hits tend to go into the net.
Is it good for a one handed?
Absolutley not. Way too light it doesent stay firm through contact
What do you think of RPM Blast? Good match for the Pure Aero 98?
I think there are other strings that play better for longer that will work better for us mortals who don't get new strings every set. My fav (that I tried) was Toroline Wasabi in the red colour.
What gauge would you recommend for this racquet?
I don't think I'd go any thinner than 1.25mm
Thanks 😅 gonna try full bed of wasabi 125 in it next week.
Coming from the Ezone 100 after your recommendation but after about a month hitting with it I just felt like it was just too powerful even if I tried my hardest to put topspin some balls were flying long I don’t really like not having confidence to swing out
@@thehiddenfamily ok I hope this one work better!
would love to see how this racket plays with champions choice in it
vs and 98 are quite different rackets. Can you confirm?
They felt the same to me but I couldn't hit them back to back.
How does is compare to the sx 300 tour? That one's often available on ebay for a good price, unlike the Babolat!
I've only hit with it for a few minute and I just couldn't connect with the SX Tour. It felt so sluggish and stiff. I like the FX 500 Tour better. Really reminds me a lot of the Aero VS.
Hit with more than 10 rackets, sx300t with dunlop black widow.. best I ever hit with.
How would you compare it to the aero vs?
I personally don't notice much of a difference
Vs is stiffer and faster.
98 is similar.
I have 2 of both and switch
how does it compare to Pure Aero ?
The 100 feels more clunky and soft on contact. Its a little less connected feeling i think. Will probably do a standalone comparison video for these two
Damn this video makes it harder for me to decide on a racquet. We don't have the luxury of demos here.
same! between this one and radical mp, but I want love control racquets so probably will go to mp
@@p4r4n0id_4ndr0id todays version of me would probably drop tension to 45lbs
Would you recommend smaller grip size for this racket or bigger? It’s little interesting Carlos is using 4 1/2 whereas many taller players are using 4 3/8. Also, could you compare this racket with Blade Pro 16x19?
Thanks in advance!😊
Bab grips I reckon run big...
I haven't tried the Blade Pro just I would definitely size down with Babolat, especially if you are coming from head.
Pls review prince textreme tour 310, the black green one
This could potentially be something I do for the membership page, but ROI isn't great for discontinued racquets.
7:43the ball was in☝️
What was the string tension you used here?
48lbs in the specific hitting clip but tested a few different setups between 48 and 52lbs
Great video Beckett!! How do you find the Aero 98 vs Pure Strike 98 16x19, and which would be better for 1HBH?
Its honestly been too long since I tried the Strike and I don't have a 1HBH so I don't think my advice would be that useful
@@TennCom no worries!
I tried the PStrike 98 and found it too beefy on 1hbh, it felt more suited to 2hbh. Maybe due to balance and beam size...
@@robalberts hey, thanks! This helps
How is it for 1 handed backhand
hard to say since i dont have a one hander
@@TennComyou do slice don’t ya??
@@rk-jc9se I would barely call my slice a shot
This racket sounds amazing but I'll stick with my Maxply.
I haven't due to availability in NA, but I've heard they have really good feel.
confidential at 54. Great after one hour breakin.
I have also thought about M8. I didn't like M8 last time, but maybe if I go very low in tension (42 lbs?). RS strings? Never heard.
@@TennCom
I love confidential, but hurts my arm. @@zhangbryant3748
But isn't the racquet itself quite stiff and uncomfortable so strings not really soften it???

@@TennCom awesome thanks
Strung RDC of this racquet is 65, not 71
You almost got me!
I think I haven’t seen you do a review without saying that a rackets feel is very muted 😅
The feel of the frame is soul-less. I had the same issue with it. Plays great though, I just hated the feel so much that I had no interest in using it after a while.
We need a pure aero 98 vs Yonex ezone 98 video
Can you compare it with the vcore 98
VCORE is way softer feeling and lower power. The stringbed is less consistent, but its better for playing loopy tennis, whereas the PA98 makes you strike through every ball
Yes how does he win with uhh…well because he is supremely gifted and skilled. You can give him any brand and he will adjust.
Are you sure you're a 3.5? Based on your videos of you playing you definitely look higher than a 3.5

ezone 100 please compare*
The EZONE is more accessible if you have slower swingspeeds, but I dont think the control is as precise if you an advanced player. Spin definitely goes to the Aero.
ah yes racket channels, the place where 3.0s go to talk about spcs inst of just l2p
So, conclusion very nice racket if you want to get injury and stop playing tennis 😂
Teleprompter controlled you
BCZ DOJO LETS HIM NOT ANYMORE
That’s complete BS!, No way can he get much juice and absorb that much juice using a stock racquet!!!!
3.5 and falling, LMFAO.
