    the choreographer of bourne's movies was Jeff Imada... he is a kali's master...i think bourne's fight style better than other movies because he didn't use jumps and acrobatic movements. It is more realistic.

    Thanks so much for breaking down these fight scenes. I agree; the camera-work makes it difficult to see the action. I wish more action-movie actors would take extensive training like Keanu Reeves does so they don't have to rely on doubles to do stunt-work.I have a question/request: do you intend to make any videos on any of the fight scenes in the Hannibal TV series? (in particular, the ones from S01E08 or S02E01)

    • @JoeyBslash3
      @JoeyBslash3  7 лет назад +1

      +CMY187 You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoy them and thank you for your support! Keanu is a beast when it comes to training martial arts to prepare for a role. I will have to check out your suggestion for sure.

    • @JoeyBslash3
      @JoeyBslash3  7 лет назад +2

      +CMY187 I think for the most part, Damon did all the fight scenes. It was just a stylistic choice to have the camera shake and have quick editing. It does bring a visceral dynamic to the way we perceive the fight scene. I don't think they were trying to hide stunt men or anything.

    You missed that Bourne gets an underhook with his left arm under the baton wielding marine's right. He uses that and a crossface with his right forearm to control the marine and keep him upright long enough to reach the suit guy and his gun. You just have a right cross face and a brace with your left, nothing preventing your man from spinning out to his left, your right.

    Nice video. But, only thing i hate about Bourne movies is a fighting scenes, because when it's started, then camera is shaking so hard that i can't see a damn thing. Why they can't just make every fighting scene without any camera shakings? It's so stupid. By the way, maybe you can't do this but, can you do some moves from Ong Bak movie? There is some crazy stunts, kicks and flips, but i don't know if you can do that stuff :)

    • @JoeyBslash3
      @JoeyBslash3  7 лет назад +9

      +DeathCold_ LongplaysUA Yes indeed, the fight scenes definitely are hard to see what's going on, but that's why I'm here lol.
      I try my best to fulfill requests, but those stunts in the Ong Bak films are very dangerous if not trained properly and it takes years to get that good at maneuvers like that. I am definitely not trained for that kind of stuff, I sure wish I was though, they are incredible athletes. There is one fight scene I might be able to break down where he does a lot of hand trapping and breaks.

    They make such a big deal about the Greengrass Bourne movies, but this one was directed by Lyman, and the fight scenes are much more complete than in the Greengrass movies where shaking cameras and over-the-top editing create scenes that are high on style but low on substance. This fight scene from the first movie showed Damon literally executing all the moves himself. No tricks.

    • @JoeyBslash3
      @JoeyBslash3  6 лет назад +1

      Yea, the fight scenes in the first film are shot better, but it still has some quick cuts and shaky cam. Not as bad as greengrass. I still enjoyed those fight scenes though

I would say the fight that is closest to PTK in the Bourne films is the one with the magazine vs knife inside the house in The Bourne Supremacy. However, the closest thing to PTK in film that I have seen is the bar fight in The Book of Eli, where he is literally taking hands and heads off with his machete...that's real PTK.

      @@JoeyBslash3 I guess the element of suprise also would be a huge part of it. He definitely hit where mostly anyone would go down, like the neck and balls lol. But that first wrist lock grab....insane skill to pull off, especially over the head.

    • @JoeyBslash3
      @JoeyBslash3  4 года назад +2

      Yea, the wrist lock would be hard to pull off. However, like you said, the element of surprise is the key here. Also, notice that his hands are up, making the position to grab the wrist much easier, compared to having his hands down at the hips

    one of the worst combat scenes using eskrima or FMA...the camera is everywhere. the director is using the so called "shaky cam" to hide the mistakes

    • @JoeyBslash3
      @JoeyBslash3  4 года назад

      I mention that things are out of frame because it makes it hard to figure out the exact technique used. I liked the Bourne trilogy's shaky camera. I don't feel like the director used shaky cam to hide movements, however, that is possibly the truth behind it. The effect of the shaky cam and fast editing is for the fight scene to be perceived by the viewers as someone watching the scene and not understanding what just happened. It's told more through sound effects in many ways, especially because wide angles aren't used to show the movements.
