Regardless of previous remakrs, correct or not, your video was very helpful for me in setting up my 8010e printer. Than you
Thank you!
You should add that you can't access the ink area if the top of the scanner is already open. That's five min of my life that I won't get back.

Thank you for posting this comment! I could not figure out why I could not lift the top to access the cartridge area.

This video was very helpful. The orange guard on the cartridge was extremely hard to get off. I had to get a cloth to hold onto the guard as the end was sharp and use all my might to twist it off. I almost had to give up until hubby got home.

What is the difference with model 8018 vs 8020 ??? Please help
This is a very helpful video. I too could not get the cartridge access door open. But got that done and ready to install printer. Question: I already have HP Smart on my computer for an older HP Officejet 4650. Can I use that program on my computer and just change to a new and different HP printer now.. and change my monthly ink plan? or do I have to start from scratch as if I had never had HP Smart on my computer before? I don't know where to go for help!
+Marilyn McLeod Please refer this document to add printer to HP smart app: bit.ly/37myF86 and please refer this document to know all about HP instant ink: bit.ly/3El5vS7
Word of advice: you should have the screen say that the ink initializing process can take up to 10 minutes.
you forgot to mention the part about 30 minutes of declining and wading through the 37,800 marketing things your app prompts you through, with account sign ups, verification codes, 200 attempts to get me to sign up for an ink subscription, etc. Im excited to get to be able to actually print things at some point.
Hi Chester, thanks for contacting!
I understand that you are experiencing an issue with your printer as you need to sign in for printing.
I will do my best to assist you.
If you are setting up HP Smart for the first time, you must create or sign in to an HP account. If you update to the latest version, you do not have to create or sign in to an HP account except in these cases: You install an HP+ printer. You install HP Smart on a new device, or you remove and reinstall the app.

Very Detailed Tutorial EXCEPT for one Very Important Point 😞 On mine [8020e series].. Before you can actually "lift the cartridge access door" you MUST push down a little square button in the lower left hand portion of the access door... Yikes! 🙂 Someone strong could bust the printer before ever useing it ;-) Otherwise, It was 100% right on!!

How do you change the printer's country or region ? I tried unplugging and plugging back in, the wrong setting was already saved. There was no "back" arrow prompt. The touch screen is very sensitive, I didn't get a chance to see that option in the first place, it just showed up on my touch screen as marking my region incorrectly.

Do I need to turn the printer OFF at all? I don't print much, maybe 10-20 pages per month. I also do have instant ink delivery setup, therefore I know it could be important to turn Printer ON occasionally.
+rob5hh Yes, you will have some say it is okay to turn the printer off overnight and others that say you should leave it on all the time. The printer does go into sleep mode after about 5 minutes of not being used. This sleep mode is an energy saver mode.
We do suggest that you leave the printer on all the time if you are able to if it has to be turned off at night that is fine just be sure you turn it on and leave it on first thing the next day. The reason for this is so we can communicate with the printer and get your ink levels and accurate up to date page counts, we do not want to have a delayed ink replacement shipment for you.
Hello, how do you put the paper tray all the way back in please ? I'm stuck
+Damien Bobby Jack Please refer this document to know about loading papers: bit.ly/2Qb5LM7
I don’t think it is supposed to go back in like it was before you pulled it out. Mine sticks out about 3”, or about 1 1/2” less than the printer output tray when that is fully extended. Everything works well, but it does stick out more than what looks good.

Sorry the carriage doesn't move the left.
Hi there, thanks for contacting HP Global Social Media Support!
I understand that you are experiencing an issue with your printer as the carriage does not move to center.

The carriage only moves if the printer is in a printhead error state. If the carriage does not move to the centre of the printer when you open the printhead access door, the printheads do not need to be replaced. Replace printheads only when instructed to by error messages on the printer software, control panel, or HP Smart app.

Does the printer have to be connected to a computer, or can it just be connected to Wifi/ethernet ? Also, is there any difference between connecting it to a ethernet cabble (for faster speeds) rather to the Wifi?
+jrjunior games The printer has to be connected to WiFi as well as to the devices. You can connect it via wireless or USB.

Hi there, thanks for contacting HP Global Social Media Support!
I understand that you are experiencing an issue with your printer as the cartridge does not move to the center.
I will do my best to assist you.
I would first like you to clean the paper path inside the printer. Unplug the printer from the wall socket, use a lint flint-free and try and wipe clean the carriage path / paper path thoroughly inside the printer. There might be very small debris or dust particles which might be causing slight issues for the free carriage movement. Cleaning the carriage path will help us fix the issue. Also, try and move the carriage manually using little force.

NEVER buy this printer. There are many bad things about it. One of the worst is the "instant ink" program. If you have two identical printers, for instance one in your wife's room and one in your girlfriend's room down the hall, you can't share the ink cartridges between the two printers.
There's so much more I could complain about here with this printer and with the HP Smart program that demands your cell phone number in order to let you scan, but instead I'm going to have some oat milk and try to calm down.
Can you print without making an account? or without paying a monthly fee? or without wifi? So far I do not like this printer at all. Do not buy it.
