This is the worst printer just to figure out the opening of the door. Thanks to the individual that said the scanner door has to be down. Who would have known. Lol
+Nalani Lynn I am glad to know that the video has helped you fix the issue.
Thank you so much Nalani, I was also struggling with that. Your comment is what helped me!
Thank you.!!
Just wanted to say, you are a lifesaver lol
Thank you so much, didn't understand what went wrong....
Trying to follow the instructions on page 113 of the User Manual. No where does it say the scanner door has to be in the DOWN position. Glad I stumbled upon this.
+Thomas Jacques I am glad to know that the video has helped you fix the issue.
I"m so glad you wrote that, Thomas. I was going crazy trying to figure out how to open the front door. Funny, they don't even tell you!
@@HeathCliffrothman Strongly encourage HP to add this point.

I had the same problem finding the access door!
Picture and written directions do not show the top most part of printer has to be against the glass so the entire larger part lifts up once the front part that says HP is down(open).

Correct. Almost broke it trying to figure that out

HP you should be ashamed of yourselves. That instruction is simply wrong! Thanks to Nalani for explaining that you have to pull the door up. HP try testing your instructions on real human beings dont rely on engineers writing this drivel. Just wasted 30 minutes on this

How come when I pull the orange tab to remove the plastic, the cartridge label is pulled off because it is connected to the orange tab?
Hi there, thanks for contacting HP Global Social Media Support!
Sometimes the plastic covering could be tightly packed sticking to the label inside causing the label to tear off with the plastic. But no worries, if you have any issues with the cartridge you can always contact us, and we'll help you out with the cartridge issue.

Doesn't address the issue of when the plate doesn't "come right up"
Hi there, thanks for contacting HP Global Social Media Support!
I understand that you are experiencing an issue with your printer as the carriage does not move to center.
I will do my best to assist you.
I would first like you to clean the paper path inside the printer. Unplug the printer from the wall socket, use a lint flint-free and try and wipe clean the carriage path / paper path thoroughly inside the printer. There might be very small debris or dust particles which might be causing slight issues for the free carriage movement. Cleaning the carriage path will help us fix the issue. Also, try and move the carriage manually using little force.
Regards,
HP Support
thank you so much
+tsegey midson You're most welcome.
I agree, these are the worst directions. You might put a disclaimer in that the scanner needs to be closed before lifting open the lid.

Don’t buy this printer trust me. You can’t use it without a monthly subscription. Trust me do not buy hp printers. My printer does not work at all.
+Tay Tay HP Instant Ink uses high-volume cartridges, pricing based on pages printed, and direct-to-customer shipping delivered only when you run low. This means fewer cartridges travel shorter distances and require less packages, allowing us to pass savings on to you. Please refer this document for complete information: bit.ly/2SDuhrk
@@HPSupport buyers I hardly ever use my printer. I was sent 3 extra ink packages that I cant use. At this point my printer is a piece of office decor. You can’t use these printers unless you purchase the monthly subscription which is pay by copy. HP is monitoring the use of copies not ink. Don’t buy this copy machine unless you want a monthly subscription.
@@ms.shunte8323 I have same printer 8020 is an awful printer, worst one ever had, the door is ridiculous to find open and than cartigage won't come out move to be removed
You're right they make you order ink so I did and be prepared to wait over a week or.more to receive it horrible service.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get to where the ink cartridges are supposed to go...it’s like the top is stuck and won’t lift up at all...HELP!!!
+Anya Kewley This document contains steps for replacing the ink cartridges: bit.ly/31sCott
It did not show how to take off the orange thing attached to the new cartridge and put it in the printer. Useless.
+Joyce Dyrector This document contains steps for replacing the ink cartridges: bitly.com/34cZvrO
It also doesn't show new users how to tell which cartridge needs replacing. Since the printer only comes with a cryptic visual manual, users have to figure out that you need to monitor this teensy-tiny icon on the screen that you need Millennial vision to see and a Millennial tech mindset to figure out. How would I know that without a manual... unless I was a techie? Nothing is user friendly for techno dummies, right down to figuring out how to remove the orange tape. Very presumptuous and confusing, not intuitive or user-friendly, and a total lack of directions. Otherwise, it's a nice printer though the color saturation isn't as good as I used to get on older HP printers.
@@HPSupport The document does not explain what steps to take to figure out which cartridges need replacing. All the screen says is to be sure to close the door. And the orange tabs are so hard to get off, I had to get a set of pliers and the guy next door to help me remove them.
worst company ever needing hp cartdriges is so stupid
