Great to see instruction from a lefty😊
gotta admit, i had to go through a crap ton of videos to learn how to hook a ball, but you sir have done it in less than 5 minutes. Thank you
Great breakdown of technique and drills we can use. Best of luck this weekend!
Great video, as a lefty, I would love to see some instruction on attacking the 7 pin. Thanks!
Great video Nate. keep up the good content.
Thank you so very much for the education. I'm a lefty myself and I can relate to the instruction. There are hardly any instructional videos conducted by lefties. Thanks again and I will certainly practice the tips yoy provided
Thank you for the inspiration for a lefty, I’ve been bowling for a long time and carry a good avg’ 189 I shot a 721 series but I’m always practicing with different stuff in the house or outside against the wall with a soft spongy ball for release and always looking for videos like this. My goal is to be a good bowler with a 230 average. I was hurt in an accident and to continue to bowl I had to go lefty. That was 4 years ago so a solid avg I have achieved but want higher so I have subscribe in hoping to see more from him. Thanks
Great tips Nate. I like your videos and learning from it. Love from Holland
Being new to bowling, is there more to hooking the ball? Do you have to look anywhere specific or slide towards a specific direction? Thanks for showing hand placement.
FINALY, a video from a Lefty!!!
great video!! keep them coming KR!!
instant sub, short clear and to the point. as a beginner, this is what i need.
Nate, I appreciate the video but there is no bend in your elbow on your back swing or in the follow through....3:20
Your tip about a small amount of elbow bend and keeping your elbow by your side helped me out a lot. I tried to go for a pendulum swing by locking my arm and that was really hurting my game.
so I have to ask I assume theres barely any hand spin? it more the position of the hand?
When i started cupping the ball to ensure my fingers were under the midline at release, my elbow bent naturally during my swing in order to support the weight of the ball. Been getting some beautiful ball motion. So maybe it's more of a wrist thing than an elbow thing?
Thank you for your tips.
What weight do you recommend throwing? I bowled for years throwing a 16 pounder one handed no thumb but I'm getting back into it and I'm thinking about bowling with a thumb. I'm considering a 14 pound ball to get back into it
Question: Do you need a reactive ball to hook? I've been practising with a plastic spare ball.
good video would like to see how this is applied to 2 finger bowlers but i still learned alot
Super clear advice. Thanks mate!
Hi Nate. My name is Jim. I'm a lefty. And having issues with too much of a hook. So for less of a hook should I release the ball more at 7 o'clock.
so i do throw at 7 o’clock or slowly change to 7 o’clock when im about to throw the ball?
Nate it was a pleasure bowling woodys tourn 5 -5 2024 thanks for information and great bowling!!!
Thank you for your time to give tips
Thank you for this!
How much more mph would you gain from one grip [hand under] to another?
What's to the shoes? Are they interchangeable?
Overall great video. When you showed the clocks it would have been good to see where the ball went.
Great video!
Nice bowling tips
Great video
I like to go-between the 10 and the 5 board I do not know how to lineup
I cant stay behind the ball….ie Im always way up on the equator, so Im really spinning it….havent bowled in 34 years….so trying to figure out this completely different game than what it was before.
Interesting--not a word about the thumb....
Thank you I am also left handed, great leasson
It looks like your arm is straight with no elbow bend on your down swing. I watched the video several times. Am I mistaken. Thanks
Why don’t I have control to spin my ball when I release it although I follow everything you are telling me to do?
Finally a lefty to watch!
I bought a 14lb ball and it seems way to heavy for me…I have a lot of muscle but it’s still too heavy. My fingers and my thumb start to hurt when I try to hook it. And I can’t release properly even when I’m doing it softly
Same here. Storm Tropical Surge ball. I think I'm following this advice, but the ball goes straight. I am basically chucking it down the middle so two questions: is the 'house ball' oil pattern keeping it straighter than I am expecting, and should I be lining up more right as a right-hander?? I can't seem to hook it at all.
Had anyone told Nate that he looks like Elijah wood.
thank you
Nice.
Yes very nice coming from a lefty.
Great instruction for sure. But you have no slide whatsoever really, I can't bowl that way ever. I subscribed anyway. Thanks!
I'm left-handed but my shot is flat can you help me
LOOKS LIKE YOU DO NOT HAVE A ELBOW BEND ON YOUR BACK SWING
great
The thumb nail is a joke cause that doesn't determine more or less hook vague for me I can throw a hook both ways but it's your speed and how and where you release your from the ball and are you breaking your wrist on release or not
Unfortunately too much talking, not enough demonstrating. You talked all about hooking a bowling ball, barely showed any clips of the ball hooking. You even discussed 9:00 vs. 6:00 positions and NEVER Showed the difference! Lol
Actually thumb at 12 for right hand or 11 or 10 o'clock...
Nice shoes
wtf did you put on the thumbnail..? That is so incorrect.
Why don't these videos ever show hand positions
You look like Frodo left shire and be a pro bowler...
What a terrible thumbnail, telling people to come over the top of the ball for more hook
He is telling people in the video NOT to come over the top and the left thumbnail also does NOT show coming over the top. It is from a right-handed view on left thumbnail. Definitely NOT coming over the top. And the video shows what over the top looks like and NO way near what thumbnail shows. Go see an eye doctor to have your eyes checked out.
It Nevers says that
@hankgolfer1 Which is why the thumbnail is terrible and misleading. If people only see the thumbnail, they'll come away with incorrect info.
Exactly. Well said. 👍
@@karlroveyyou don’t learn from a thumbnail. Watch the video.

Roll it don’t throw it
You don't help me none I'm right hand not left hand
It’s about the same it’s just opposite hand and side of the Lane. I learned from a left handed player and I am right handed
I can't take advice from a lefty j/k 😂
I liked what you said, but you didn't mention that your fingers need to be behind the ball or even under the ball, rather than on top. Also, you cupped your wrist and dropped your shoulder.
Maybe you should start your own channel so you can teach correct bowling.
Obviously you didn't listen to the whole video. Like 6:00-9:00 hand positions, for example.
@@Swamprowdy It takes strength though to keep your hand positions that way, you need a firm wrist. And a really good fit, if the fit isn`t right you wont be able to do that. They could`ve added that!
Dropping your shoulder is what is needed to make sure the shoulder doesn’t go forward and to keep the ball and arm swing under your head. It’s all part of the modern game
@@Jesusfanatic0711 it's actually been a part of the game since the 80's and Mark Roth was saying "video yourself " ever since personal camcorders were a thing.
