You're the first person that has ever brought up this issue, so if you're worried about looking awkward, don't be! Thousands of men of all ages have bought our long sleeve polos and they don't find it awkward. You could also try rolling up the sleeves.
If you're a muscular build guy, I'd always go with Ralph Lauren custom fit, I have loads of polo's in different brands, boss, armani, lacoste etc but RL still best fit even though other brands are probably a bit more fashionable.
I bought a tommy hilfiger pique about 5-6 years ago and it is the best quality I have ever had, it is still like new. This one I recommend everyone to buy !!
I been wearing Polo nearly ever since I can remember, Ralph Lauren slim and custom fit are always my number one. Material, color, and style. Elegant yet simple.
Brooks Brothers Golden Fleece? Banana Republic or Gap Polo? Polo Ralph Lauren Golf Polo? Tommy Hilfiger? These are easy to find. I never heard of Wang or Loro, and Ijust heard of Sunspell recently. Do a part 2 please.
I personally like the Ralph Lauren Performance stretch jersey polo shirts. They are made of polyester but so silky soft they stretch dnt shrink or fade. I’ve have some for years lots of washed and loom great still. At $110 a shirt I expect it to last a few years and 100% cotton fades and shrinks. I recommend their pants as well just a different look and feel from Levi’s they’re also $110 each.
I think the best option and value would be to go fully bespoke if you have the time. There are plenty of higher-end tailors that stock jersey and pique fabrics from different mills, ready to create a custom-made polo to your exact liking from fabric to fit and even collar style. For much less than an off-the-rack Loro Piana polo too.
Nice video, since I live in FL and work 4 of 5 days remotely polos are what I wear most. The ones I have the most of are Ralph Lauren. I like the look, the fit, and color options of them. Plus they are easy to find on sale. Mine have always been under $65. I prefer the softer ones vs the traditional pique. The downside I have found is some don’t hold their color as well as others and the collar on some starts to lose its shape and appearance. I have Lacoste too which i like but they are tougher to find on sale. They seem to hold color better than RL and collar is better but then can shrink to where they get short. I also have some Vineyard Vines which are a bit heavier so I tend to wear them more in Florida winter or cooler months. I am surprised you didn’t have VV as they are better known than others on this list. I like trying different brands as well. I have an Abercrombie & Fitch polo I like and I have bought cheaper brands too that have been hit or miss. I recently ordered an Alex Vando which I have never tried but got such a great deal I said why not. I also just ordered a True Classic Polo as it is always advertised and I wanted to try it. I understand it is more of a softer/casual polo which is fine as I like having softer/lightweight more casual polos for hanging out on the weekends that I can wear with shorts. Of the brands you reviewed, I definitely want to try the Kent Wang as it seems nice at a reasonable price point. I can’t see paying $100+ for a polo so probably won’t try the others.
I went on a similar journey, since I wear polos 90% of the time. Here in Singapore, temperatures regularly hit 36C and humidity close to 100%. I started with Kent Wang after hearing about them from styleforum. Heavy duty fabric, love the collar, but not so happy about the length and fit. You can see the length is slightly too long for you and bunches at the hips. This means I had to shorten them after purchase, which isn’t a big deal, but still. I next tried sunspel and so far it was the best fitting one. Cool fabric, pretty good construction, better colour options than Kent Wang. Thanks for your video!
Ahh yes I agree. Kent wang does make there’s a few inches long but I’m glad you agree in regards to sunspel! Crazy to think someone from Singapore watches haha
I really like Ralph Lauren clothing in general, though I own about 18 to 20 Polos, all by Lacoste. Most are the Paris Polo Regular Fit in Size 3 (S), though I have some Classic Fit in Size 3 (S) and some Slim Fit in Size 4 (M). Overall they all fit extremely well to my muscular build, are very comfortable and do not cause me to sweat down my back like other clothing does in 30°C+ temperatures.
The dedication!! Good job on this. Been looking for a video like this this and there are basically none. Shocker that more aren’t willing to spend hundreds of dollars on polos for their video. So I appreciate the dedication.
I had a Ralph Lauren polo and it shrank so much I could no longer wear it. I like the Lacoste in slim fit and the fit is perfect for me, and they wash well.
Thanks it’s very cool to see the fabric on these things up close and how they move when walking around. My favorite hoodies have been Uniqlo and Champion Reverse Weave
so far my favorite is an RRL (double R L; Ralph Lauren sub-brand). The Purple Lable Ralph Lauren is also nice. albeit both can be very expensive, but sales occur periodically. they can go as much as 50% off; however, if a shirt is 300$, 50% off is still very expensive; RRL is not 300$, but purple lable can be, without discount. something I also like, besides fit, quality, and material is there are no branding to see, on most of their polos.
This is what I needed, thank you so much! Looking for a Christmas gift and I hate not knowing if certain things are worth the money (and I'd hate to have to return anything) - so I'm super grateful for this video, thank you!

@@BeeRumblin13 The word made in england is just a word. it is made with the same pique cotton and probably the same small Chinese hands at low cost. An excellent roundup and review. I've had Lacoste and they were very good, my Sunspels I've had for a VERY long time but still look good. I've found that despite taking care laundering, the collars on any polo seem to fade compared to the body of the shirt. I've some Lyle & Scott ones that I bought last summer and they've been a good balance of quality for the price, £65 here in the UK.
Nice comparison of brands, my personal preference is split between Fred Perry and vintage Penguin polo shirts. Did stop to browse the Loro Piana clothes at the Marco Polo airport in Venice but was prepared for the sticker shock, found a very soft cashmere jacket. Thought you might have included the Hermes brand, I'm sure you could find something in the $10K range.
imo the lacoste polo are the best they are quite expensive tbh but they are confortable and looks good i have both piqué and lacoste sport polo both are really good
I'm a nut when it comes to polos. When I find one I like I buy EVERY color!! 80's and 90's I was obsessed with IZOD LaCoste. They fit great up top but so long. Then I went with Ralph Lauren POLO. Also great fit. Over to Banana Republic. I bought at least 10 shirts in each brand. Then I discovered HOLLISTER which my daughter says I'm too old to wear but they fit well and look good untucked and with shorts or jeans and are cheap as dirt!!! And I recently went to size small even though I'm a 40 Short and they hug my chest like a dream!!!
Love this. Helps out people who might want to experiment with spending a little more to get better quality. Video takes a ton of work and I appreciate it! Saw this on Reddit and had to head over. Liked, subscribed, and my favorite hoodie is a Patagonia branded one I picked up at a thrift store.
Great vid! Sunspel was not on my radar at all, I'll have to check them out. With regard to the giveaway, I got 2 of the Yeezy Gap hoodies recently and am a huge fan of them. The fit is unique so be sure to do some research on sizing if you decide to review one!
Funny, although love wearing polos as well, I never really compared my own polo collection, from various brands, ranges and price labels as well (like cheapies from H&M, more expensive ones like Polo RL, Alexander McQueen, McGregor, Karl Lagerfeld, Paul&Shark, Faconable, Cavalli, Fred Perry, John Richmond, La Martina and high end like Brioni and Brunello Cucinelli). Let's give it a try: 🙂 Best fitting: H&M, Paul&Shark, McGregor, Fred Perry, La Martina and Faconable. Most 'expensive' looking: La Martina, Faconable, Karl Lagerfeld, Ralph Lauren, Paul&Shark and Brioni. Best materials: La Martina, Faconable, Brioni and Brunello Cucinelli. (However, the Brunello Cucinelli polo, my most expensive polo, quickly starts to show sweat stains if the weather/environment is warmer, completely ruining the sophisticated look.) 'Coolest' most fashionable/hip looking: John Richmond and Cavalli. Final verdict: not a clue. 🤔😉 But the most worn are my Ralph Lauren polos. Best value for money: H&M, Karl Lagerfeld, McGregor, Fred Perry and Faconable. Favorites for going out: Cavalli, Karl Lagerfeld, McGregor, McQueen and Richmond.
Love the in depth review, love Pique polos so simple, yet versatile and comfortable. In terms of hoodie I like a plain hoodie to go with jeans or chinos, I like a loose fit hoodie not too big and not too small but one that looks good and will continue to look good the more I wear it.
These videos have piqued (no pun intended) my interest, mostly because of the brands you've selected and your conclusions. So far, I'm glad that I concur with your t-shirt and polo rankings. I love Sunspel for Polos and Asket for tees. Would be great to see a comparison of loafers, boat shoes and over-shirts as we move into summer. Keep up the great content.
Returning a Lacoste I just purchased. Shrank like crazyyy. The shirt length shrank like four inches it seems: fits like a polo crop top now lol. So yea sending it back. Washed in cold water, low heat tumble dry.
No item of clothing has disappointed me more than the Sunspel polo. I got the short and long sleeve Riviera's in navy and after about a month, they shrank and turned purple on a normal 30 degree wash. Never again.
what about Fred Perry? they make a beautiful slim fit Polo in a small factory in England. surprised you missed this. Also you may want to consider wearing a more relaxed fit jean or pant it would complement your large legs and hips. thx for the video.
In my opinion, "top" is best defined by what fits your anatomy the best which then provides your particular body the best look. You can get lacoste all day but if it looks and fits too tight or too baggy and can't get that perfect fit, then who cares.
Thanks for the video! Lacoste is a brand from France 🇫🇷 I think it’s worth noting when mentioning the brand’s rich history. Also, you sound like Ryan Gosling!
I wore RL Polo's for over 40 years. However, the quality continued to worsen over the last 15 years to the point that I don't enter the RL store anymore. I find the price/quality to me shameful. Typical example of a brand shipping their Mfg'ing to a country with cheap labor and catering to the US market that completely ignores quality and just wants things on the cheap. After buying a Lacoste polo in St Barths a few years ago I found this to be a much better solution. Being 183cm/6ft, muscular and fit the slim cut is perfect. The only issue is the length is made for French and not those of us from taller countries, DE for example. The quality is good, it keeps the form, the colors are plentiful and are "smart" with the right pant or shorts. Good luck guys! In the end its all about what makes you feel good about yourself and feels good when you wear them.
Glad to know I’m not the only one who saw a deterioration in quality. Agreed with your last statement fully! As long as it fits well, lasts long, and makes you happy, nothing else matters!
Can we revisit this? I'm looking for a minimal polo in merino wool and it's slowly turning into a PHD. Just basic, no logos, regular fit. Why is it so hard?
My father was Irish... Horses, tweed, shooting mother from Florence, former model.....When I was young I couldn't eat dinner at the table during the hot summer unless I had a shirt on...My father was a Executive with IBM....He told me first impressions are the most important your parents were smart people.
I legit got a few sunspel polos a month ago and I love them. Glad they hit the top of your list! Also, this isn't mainstream but I'd check out Wolf vs Goat polos as they are a silk cotton blend I think - I got a couple of them and they fit suuuuper well. and for hoodie suggestions I'd suggest Lulu (of course), american giant, and old navy. Not sure what other good hoodie brands are out there but maybe that's an opportunity to make a solid hoodie company!
Wolf vs Goat has been coming up a lot recently will definitely check them out! Appreciate the hoodie recommendations and the support on all the vids 🙌🏽
Wonderful video. Thanks for the information. I too wear polos all the time. The hoodie that I enjoy most is Ralph Lauren polo. Comfortable and stylish.
I have so many Polo Ralph Lauren polos and they are all from thrift stores lol. They have a problem with the seam between the tails tearing, probably as a result of the washing and drying machines.
The dedication and work you’ve put in here it is sincerely admirable. Got to do something about that vocal toning. It’s reminiscent of a very young person reading in front of their class. Your work deserves professional sound.
You can only get the Classic and Custom Fit on the Ralph Lauren site in the US. I wish they had a slim... I'm 6'4 and the Custom's sleeves are just too short.
I have done this too, but over several years.... I am also in Texas and Pique tends to be too thick for my liking (I do have a couple of Fred Perry's that I love, but not on hot days). James Perse Sueded Jersey polos are my favorite... The cut is just right, and the fabric never feels hot... The colors are fantastic, and they change them up every year.
Awesome video. Did you test these through the dryer for shrinkage, or did you just wash them and hang dry? Curious if the Sunspel and Kent Wang polos shrink significantly in the dryer.
I grew up with Lacoste because my father wore them, then switched to Polo. I have now switched back to Lacoste and a few other brands. You left out two of my favorites because they are less available: Carolina Herrera makes a great polo. Very heavy weight and nice stripe detail along the side of the bottom. My favorite: Paul Stuart. Substantially heavier and feels the most substantial.
@@asim And I have learned the lesson of Loro Piana and Cucinelli. Lovely stuff. Very overpriced. The only thing you get is a) the status if the item is recognizable or b) a special feeling from wearing something very expensive.
Congrats David Tran for winning the giveaway. Hoodie video coming up next so subscribe and hit the bell to get notified for that one!

A+ quality content. Great work. I appreciate it. Cheers.
Appreciate it Cory!
Yeah! I really like to calculating it as cost per wear versus cost in general! Thanks for the watch and the comment
You should make a video of you finding the best trousers for styling polos!! Would love that !!
And great video !!
Definitely a great idea!
Great vid! Sunspel was not on my radar at all, I'll have to check them out. With regard to the giveaway, I got 2 of the Yeezy Gap hoodies recently and am a huge fan of them. The fit is unique so be sure to do some research on sizing if you decide to review one!
Same here prior to this video! A ton of people bringing up the YZY hoodie so going to try to get my hands on it
By far, the most informative and detailed regarding the history and design language of a polo. Thank you for taking the time to create this video.
Appreciate it!
Let's give it a try: 🙂
Best fitting: H&M, Paul&Shark, McGregor, Fred Perry, La Martina and Faconable.
Most 'expensive' looking: La Martina, Faconable, Karl Lagerfeld, Ralph Lauren, Paul&Shark and Brioni.
Best materials: La Martina, Faconable, Brioni and Brunello Cucinelli. (However, the Brunello Cucinelli polo, my most expensive polo, quickly starts to show sweat stains if the weather/environment is warmer, completely ruining the sophisticated look.)
'Coolest' most fashionable/hip looking: John Richmond and Cavalli.
Final verdict: not a clue. 🤔😉
But the most worn are my Ralph Lauren polos.
Best value for money: H&M, Karl Lagerfeld, McGregor, Fred Perry and Faconable.
Favorites for going out: Cavalli, Karl Lagerfeld, McGregor, McQueen and Richmond.
Super insightful info right here! Thanks for taking the time!
Love the in depth review, love Pique polos so simple, yet versatile and comfortable. In terms of hoodie I like a plain hoodie to go with jeans or chinos, I like a loose fit hoodie not too big and not too small but one that looks good and will continue to look good the more I wear it.
Thanks Corey!
Love to hear it! Thanks for watching
Thank you for the review! I'm slightly overweight too with your exact build. I like the Uniqlo 🙂
Still reach for it weekly!
Kindly include (BOSS) In your future vids it’s an extraordinary brand.
Will be sure to! Thanks!
Returning a Lacoste I just purchased. Shrank like crazyyy. The shirt length shrank like four inches it seems: fits like a polo crop top now lol. So yea sending it back. Washed in cold water, low heat tumble dry.
Respect the hard work, passion and dollars behind this video ✌️. Kinda wanna buy a polo now.
Stoked you liked it! Always need at least one polo in the wardrobe.
My favorite hoodie is from Unbound Merino. Thin, super comfortable and somehow warm.
Thanks! I’ll look into it
No item of clothing has disappointed me more than the Sunspel polo. I got the short and long sleeve Riviera's in navy and after about a month, they shrank and turned purple on a normal 30 degree wash. Never again.
That’s disappointing, did their customer service help any?
what about Fred Perry? they make a beautiful slim fit Polo in a small factory in England. surprised you missed this. Also you may want to consider wearing a more relaxed fit jean or pant it would complement your large legs and hips. thx for the video.
It’s the one I didn’t get my hands on, will include in a future one
In my opinion Lacoste is top
Was a solid choice! They were all very good
In my opinion, "top" is best defined by what fits your anatomy the best which then provides your particular body the best look.
Appreciate it and noted!
@@asim i can definitely confirm the decline in quality. the standard RL polo is just cheap schumk.
Well said!
I love canali polos. You can find them on sale or promo. Worth it to me. RL & Lacoste are OK, worth $60 on sale.
How low have you seen the Canali?
@@asim around $125 was the least I’ve bought a canali polo.
They are made in Italy with local suppliers fabrics, must be high quality
Dior makes really nice polo shirts also, the collars are stretchy and really nice feeling
Wonderful video. Thanks for the information. I too wear polos all the time.
The hoodie that I enjoy most is Ralph Lauren polo. Comfortable and stylish.
Thank you Sean!
Really nice video. Champion Reverse Weave is my favorite hoodie and it’s potentially the original brand.
Appreciate it!
I have so many Polo Ralph Lauren polos and they are all from thrift stores lol. They have a problem with the seam between the tails tearing, probably as a result of the washing and drying machines.
Tommy Hilfiger is my go to for polo! Great fit in the shoulder/sleeve areas but room to breath in stomach.
Sounds right up my alley, I’ll take a look
Great video! If your still looking for options for the hoodie video my go to is the Lululemon City Sweat hoodie.
Can’t beat Lulu!
Solid video! I would say I GAP hoodie would be great for the next vid
Thanks for the recommendation!
Thanks for the video. It's a great distillation of this particular style - very helpful. BUT .... what is the watch you're wearing. I love it!
Undone Killy!
Great content sir I do have a question for you what brand and fit were those Jeans that you had in the video?.
Days of September!
The white ones were from Polo Sullivan fit
asket's polos are out. will you be reviewing those?
Just saw! They look great. Will try to get my hands on them
I like RL and Tommy polo fit tees. They fit well and looks smart
Thanks!
Thanks for trying the Loro Piana for us.
No problem!
Definitely binging this series
Haha more to come soon!
The dedication and work you’ve put in here it is sincerely admirable. Got to do something about that vocal toning. It’s reminiscent of a very young person reading in front of their class.
Your work deserves professional sound.
I agree 100%. Something to work on for the next video!
That Sunspel *collar* is THE ONE 🔥
It’s the goat!
Thanks for this informative video! What blue jeans are you wearing with the Kent Wang Polo by the way?
Days of September!
I love the cuff bracelet on your right hand. Where can I get one?
Cartier!
My favorite polos are made by Brooks Brothers, and Vineyard Vines. Their cotton/synthetic blends hold their shape.
I’ll take a look, thanks!
Ralph Lauren is my favorite brand, I always choose that brand and not only in polo’s after that I choose Lacoste, Tommy Hilfiger and Burberry
You can only get the Classic and Custom Fit on the Ralph Lauren site in the US. I wish they had a slim... I'm 6'4 and the Custom's sleeves are just too short.
That would be the ideal fit
What pants are you wearing throughout this video? All have great fits!
The denim is Days of September and the chinos are Jcrew!
@@asim Thanks for the fast reply! Are those the 484 chinos?
I’ll always love the Lacoste Polos. I have so many in my wardrobe
Held up well?
@@asim Absolutely
Cool vid man. I love a polo shirt. So versatile
Agreed! One of my favorites
Love the video! I share the same skin complexion and I’m the exact same height and weight as you so your review and recommendations really helped!
Glad you can relate!
Loved your video! What is your go to brand for pants? What’s the brand of the white ones in this video?
White ones are from Ralph Lauren (I wanna say they were called the sullivan), rest of the denim is from Days of September, the chinos are from JCrew
Great video! Kirkland hoodies is my vote
Costco is the 🐐
I have done this too, but over several years....
Will have to check them out. Already sweating walking to my car lol
@@asim If you are in Dallas, there is one in Highland Park Village.
I’m surprised you didn’t do Brooks Brothers.
Definitely regret leaving them and Fred Perry off
wouldnt a pima cotton or jersey cotton polo be better for Texas humid summers than a pique weave?
Maybe, I just wanted to stick with pique since that’s the classic material used for polos!
🍁🍁great video!! I have a question, I wear a classic large in RL polo, what size do you think I would be in the uniqlo?
You’ll want to go with a large as well then!
Awesome video. Did you test these through the dryer for shrinkage, or did you just wash them and hang dry? Curious if the Sunspel and Kent Wang polos shrink significantly in the dryer.
Minimal shrinkage across
Great video. I was really impressed by mother of pearl buttons on the second one.
Agreed!
Appreciate the feedback. I’ll check both of them out
@@asim And I have learned the lesson of Loro Piana and Cucinelli. Lovely stuff. Very overpriced. The only thing you get is a) the status if the item is recognizable or b) a special feeling from wearing something very expensive.
You should do which brand makes the best cargo pants!
What a great video tbh. Any thoughts on the Hugo Boss cotton blend polo? I really like mine but don’t own that many polos to compare
I haven’t tried them yet!
Brooke’s bros all day long for me , can’t beat the quality
I’ll try them out!
what's the make/model of the watch you're wearing? useful video by the way.
Undone Killy!
Hi, I was wondering what watch that is, you are wearing? It looks stunning 👌
It’s the undone Killy!
My favourite hoodie are the ones from Ralph Lauren just take a look at their web they're amazing
I’ll take a look thank!
