@TheIronSnail duluth trading Men's Free Range Organic Cotton Crew Undershirt is a great plain white T. I also love their flannels. They make clothes for "bigger" guys, so I'm biased.
Going off this video it seems a slouchy/unstructured collar may not be your preference but def give James Perse crews a try.. just for how well they drape. Try em in any of their jersey knits (my pref) or their classic. Their crews have the best drape (and fit) of any cotton shirt I own, their non-dark colors fades beautifully, they look good used, new, true to size and oversized by one. The only issues are that the hems & collar needs ironing for a neater look and certain stains can easily leave chemical discolorations. It doesn't have a vintage look you may be looking for but for a modern-style tee its worth trying out.
Michael, my friend. We need a nipple test on these shirts. I'm tired of getting white shirts that can be seen through and no one talks about that enough 😔
Studio d artisan have a basic t that is great it has a tiny us flag on the hem. It’s probably the cheapest loopwheeled t I could find, doesn’t shrink much and no nipples

Jeremy allen white is for me the perfect example 'if it's not broken then you don't change it', a great reference to always wear, also The bear is the best series of 2024
Brooo the bear is easily my favorite series, plus Jeremy's minimalist style is very functional, it combines with some Nike or with a vionentus vn100 wallet, there is no middle ground
You should make a second channel only reviewing white T-Shirts. 25minutes in deepth analysis, How they wrinkel with a jacket, how they work during summer, winter or when it rains. We need more whiter T-Shirt content!
Asket and Lady White Co shirts are some of the most long lasting, well-made, and good-looking shirts I have in my closet. Asket does run more form-fitting than Lady White. Definitely worth the price since both have now been close to 3 years of consistent wear now and they're as good as day 1.
It's absolutely mind-boggling how well their clothing is made! I have almost all my basics from them now. The T-Shirts look on year 3 still better than most T-Shirts from other brands. Even the colored ones hold their color really well. Got their light-blue jeans, made in Japan and Italy. Its by far my favorite jeans of all time. It holds their shape so well. I also got belts, oxford shirts, swim shorts and underwear from them and can't find anything bad about them - except maybe that they don't produce any sizes for larger humans. Can't recommend the brand enough.
Basically the only t-shirt I wear is the Uniqlo Airism one. Feels super soft and light yet has some nice weight to it + it never seems to wrinkle. Comes in a lot of nice colors as well so my entire closet is filled with them
Personally I run super hot in the Airism stuff, it's not breathable at all in my experience. Much worse than the thick Uniqlo U cotton ones. Funny given that's the entire point. But they are soft and the colours don't fade
They stain so easily. I own one and it's full of stains and I don't even know where they came from. Washed it a million times with different treatments and it's still there. I hear others have the same issues. I absolutely love my Uniqlo crewnecks though (first one mentioned in the video)
I lived in T-shirts for 45 yrs as a surfer. The vintage Stedman Hi Cru was the best. Its now grailed on several websites and is even found on Etsy. I now love synthetic light Ts. My favorites you might look into are the Swiftland shirt in both short sleeve or long at REI, the FLX shirts from Kohls, Eddie Bauer Resolution Ts, Vissla the surfing brand has awesome stuff and Patagonia has both the Capilene and Responsibili-Tee shirts. You won't do yourself wrong with any of these. I myself have at least two or more each of all the above and some in various long sleeve and 1/4 zip versions. I use some when hiking as base layers in winter but they can double as light outerwear in long sleeve over another T when paired with a vest.
Regarding the diagonally ribbed collar of the Real McCoy's tee, the sewist in me guesses that they took their normal ribbing fabric and cut it on the bias (AKA they cut strips of ribbing at a 45-degree angle, rather than parallel or perpendicular to the roll of fabric). This is done a lot to make "edge binding" that will wrap around the raw edges of fabric (like on the inside of an unlined coat). Bias-cut binding stretches more than straight-cut binding, which helps it go around curves (like the neckline) smoothly, without buckling, waving, distorting, etc. Long story short: they probably did it so that the collar would stretch and lay flat against the wearer's neck.
@@dongulio5539 because of the oversized fit I actually went down a size. I’m usually large with everything, but for these I went medium. The sleeves come down to just above my elbows and the body is just below my belt and not too baggy. Love the fit, I’d recommend sizing down one :-)
I swear by Uniqlo Supima cotton t-shirts. They legitimately last for years of constant use and washing as long as you always air-dry them, and they are super cheap. One slight problem I have found more recently (I can't be 100% certain, it's just my experience) is that the quality has dipped a bit. The newer shirts I have from that range have shrunk more than some of the ones I've had for many years.
I never imagined i would enjoy a video about plain T shirts. I enjoy high quality everyday items, cotton clothes, made in Japan and USA things, and I enjoyed this video. Now you have me wanting fancy plain T shirts. Something I did not even really know existed before. Lol.
I got the Merz Tee earlier this year and I absolutely adore it. Compared to all other tees I’ve ever worn, it feels so effortless and cozy that I actively am looking forward to wearing it whenever I get the chance. The texture is amazing and the little triangle under the armpits really makes all the difference in fit and comfort. I’ll give the asket a try too, but right now I’m completely sold on it. I’d definitely recommend getting the off white one (they call it “natural” on their website)
I find after a year or so the armpits are always stained, and therefore, find it hard to go above Uniqlo supima or Spier and Mackay. I'll use the saved cash to buy other pieces that are more interesting.
Armpit staining is caused by your own body or using non-natural antiperspirant/deodorant. It’s not inherently the fault of the shirt. I have multiple decades old white shirts with no stains.
@otterdonnelly9959 they never said it's the shirt's fault ૮꒰ྀི∩' ᵕ '∩꒱ྀིა just that they always have yellow stains lol maybe they only found 1 antiperspirant that smells good
Warehouse & Co Lot.4601 slub tee is worth checking out. The texture of the cloth or ‘shadow border’ as the company calls it is sooo good. It’s the best tshirt imo.
I also think it really helps that Carmy is ripped. You will never look as good in that shirt without the body, the good hair and the overall cinematography and lighting.
That's true of modeling and advertising for nearly all brands. I'd love to justify spending Sunspel money on the basics in my wardrobe, but I know I will never look as good as Daniel Craig in them 😢
Have you heard of a Brazilian brand called Hering? I highly recommend their 'super cotton' t-shirts. It's their heavy cotton line. They also have cotton+linen mix
In my experience, my favourite is Lady White and second Uniqlo. I find if I want a high quality shirt Lady White hits the spot and I know I'm getting quality. Uniqlo provides something that has a more modern and good fit, while for the price offering something comfy that doesn't look like cheap garbage.
Little inside baseball on the Bear shirt; the costume director is on record saying they use Whitesville in addition to Merz B. I have both and prefer the whitesville. The collar and sleeves are brilliant, and they just fit better after washes. Great in grey too, super stark heathering. And their blacks have nice contrast stitching. Good video!
damn you got me at 10:40 when you depict the coffee scene 😂 somehow i feel you said it with a bit of dramatic sarcasm but i instantly thought damn that’s the tshirt for me!
Absolutely love Asket, everything I’ve tried of theirs is phenomenal. What’s not mentioned here is they aim to have a fully traceable supply chain to guarantee ethically made clothes. I came for the ethical non-fast fashion and stayed for the quality.
Michael, how have you never reviewed the Warehouse & Co Slub Cotton tee? I first tried one on in the Santa Fe Standard & Strange, and the collar alone was enough to win my heart. Absolute love at first wear.
Great vid, tried the BM T shirt had to return them because the collar goes real bacon after a few washes. Would love to see Outlier T shirts in the mix!
I was looking for the best white crew neck shirt and stumbled upon this video. Learned a lot and has helped me decide on what to buy. Lastly, I subbed! Thanks! :)
Just finished re-watching your 'Selling all my watches for a Daytona video' - amazing to see the Pioneer is still on the wrist. Can't get enough of your videos!
Great video. I've bought quite a few expensive t shirts in recent years- The Merz B, Whitesville, Studio D'Artisan loopwheel and UES Ramanyana... and i came to the same realisation that my favourite one is the Asket one that I've had for years! Going to stick to that brand going forward.
The Uniqlo Crewneck shirt is rly nice but it’s a bit too thick for summer. The Uniqlo Supima is rly light and nice for summer but it doesn’t last long. The Uniqlo Oversized Airism is supposed to be breathable but I’ve noticed it holds the sweat and you’re sitting there with a visibly sweat through shirt.
Hey man, how come no Bronson? Came up in your earlier videos so have just ordered one from China. Hopefully not a bad decision? So many of these brands are hard to find in the UK 😞
For what it's worth- I strongly prefer the 1950s and 1920s tees from Merz b, I find that the fabrics and fits are both more appealing than the 215 shirt.
It's actually funny since a close friend of mine is the only child of Sally Fox! She is an absolute gem of a person and seeing some of her cotton raw in person was stunning! Really a true pioneer that deserves the attention she's getting!
Yea!!!! I’m glad you liked the Lady White!! I’ve tried so many T’s and the Lady white just fits great! And you can wash that thing in hot water and dry it on the hottest setting, and it just won’t budge!( I’ve tried!) I will recommend and very nice tshirt you maybe haven’t heard of, Rowan. Was recommended by a friend, and is super soft and durable. But if you do get one, size down I think, as I’m normally a L and found the M fit best. Cheers buddy!
Man, really enjoying your videos! Would love to hear your take on Unbound Merino's shirts! Have you done a video any of their clothing? Looked but didn't find one.
Great comparison! Although I might disagree on the Uniqlo Supima as they’re kinda thin compred to what they used to release 2019! Also, could you please include H&M’s Pima cotton and Fruit of the loom premium cotton?
I’m on a serious quest to find the best t shirt. A couple you haven’t covered (I think) Mr. P (really great basics some of their colors fit weird though), SUNSPEL (you may have covered them and they have small neck holes), James Perse (flown and suuuuuper comfortable), Kith vintage tees (a little too boxy) and yea including the shirts you’ve covered I am still looking for the shirt I can wear with shorts, a blaze and everything in between. Haven’t found it yet! Merz shirts are great but a littte tight to wear in less formal settings
algorithm put this on my page and my god i'm glad it did. i've been searching for the perfect t-shirt forever now. found some relatively cheap ones i like (abercrombie essentials) but the collar on them just isn't great. subscribing now!
Hey there, first time watching this channel. Greetings from germany. So let me give you some real german feedback now. This channel features by far the best hair strand wiggling I have ever seen. In my whole life. Ever. It's really mesmerizing. It made me already forget what this video is about. It also made me forget my name and my german identity, too. Please rate this comment ... if you feel the same ... if it's weird in a wiggly good way PS: Have a good day
I definitely need to check those uniqlo, and if you get to see this, mind sharing the strap you’re wearing the Pilot Pioneer on? Giving you a follow, I had no idea this channel existed, but I know your work from the watches channel.
Is that TV in the background with the white bezel and is that a shelf built on the top to hold candles? and more importantly, where can I get one? sorry if this has been asked before. favorite shirt is the first one. thanks!
I am always on the hunt for a good quality white tee, loved the video. A personal favorite is “basic rights” unfortunately they stopped production to do other things (sad) but bought multiple before they closed if you can get you hands on one would recommend
Probably a stupid question, really like the A New Medium shirt but their sizing seems large. It looks like there 40/42/44/46 sizes translate to L/XL/XXL/XXXL unless I'm reading their size guide wrong. Was that a custom made or am I SOL with getting one? Nice video either way, subscribed.
Try the “Regular Fit 9.3 oz Jersey Crewneck Tubular T-Shirt” by Time Catcher that you can buy through olderbest. It’s amazing value for money - £18 and it’s heavyweight, tubular knit and allegedly loopwheel but I’m not to sure if it actually is or not. I’ve had mine for about a year and it only gets better with each wash. For sizing I’m 6ft1 and 86kg and a L is great - but the customer service team is brilliant with advice as the sizes are primarily for a Chinese customer base
I know Clutch Cafe stocks the Real McCoys ones. Whitesville is available at American Classics when not sold out and the Merz B at Rivet & Hide or Son of a Stag. I had the Whitesville tees but they eventually bobbled and the necks stretched out. I currently have the Real McCoys ones and I'm loving them.
Love your content. Great video on T Shirts!! Have you heard of Rowan in California? Their 1955 Aster Standard T Shirt is worthy of your review. Keep up the great work.
Have you looked at American Giant.. or the Flint and Tinder from Huckleberry? The F&T offers several weights in cotton and also a merino wool blend version. The wool is very nice
I second the nod for Bronson Loopwheeled Tubular Athletic T-Shirt. Hands down, by the far THE BEST value for money loopwheeled t-shirt (although they're not using old timey loopwheel machines, instead they have modern tubular knit process that produces similar fabric but more efficiently). My vote for best overall t-shirt is The Flat Head THC. I've looked at and sampled almost every T on this list and many others, including the Merz B 215 (which I really don't like), and for me, there's nothing that's even a close 2nd, forget even a contender. It's definitely not for everyone, though.
Hey just wondering how tall you are as I am also of shorter stature with slightly abnormal proportions and also have trouble getting the look right. Nice review
Great video this the type of oddly specific shit I live for. I only wore black t shirts 5 years and started wearing white too a year ago since moving to Florida. I landed on Uniqlo men’s airism oversized is my main go to only downside is it isnt 100% cotton after trying like 30 brands due to comfort fit and price since I swap em all after 3-4 washes. I’m def gonna try the Japanese Whitesville and Asket now.
Really enjoyed this one. I'm an apprentice electrician and I'd love a comparison of heavyweight cotton long sleeve t-shirts. I wish Uniqlo made a long sleeve version of their 100% cotton crew neck
Calvin Klein sells 3 packs of crew necks that I own for years at a time. They're beautifully soft, drape well, breathe easily, and the collars haven't sagged on as some are coming up on 5 years old.
I'm going to check out your other T-shirt videos right now. But I honestly can't believe that Hanes beefy tea didn't make it to this list. It is I swear the best T-shirt I've ever owned for the price. It's nice heavy durable comes in pocketees I love it.
Other key tshirts I don't think you've done yet, in order of importance: Sunspel sea island cotton tee (must be sea island) Warehouse 4601 UES Ramayana 3sixteen pima McHill CDLP Industry of all nations clean crew Then pretty much all of the Japanese denim brands have their own very HQ tshirt (Studio d, Stevenson, Real McCoys, Strike Gold, etc, etc)

Great vid, tried the BM T shirt had to return them because the collar goes real bacon after a few washes. Would love to see Outlier T shirts in the mix!
Michael, what’s the watch you’re wearing with the gray NATO strap?
One of my favorite Ts ever was a uniqlo supima cotton white t /shirt. It just kept getting better and the fit became perfect over the years.
I heard that fit and quality is much worser than few years ago
@@maddoxthegreatcanecorso7150 and much more expensive than they were just a few years ago too.
I was looking for the best white crew neck shirt and stumbled upon this video. Learned a lot and has helped me decide on what to buy. Lastly, I subbed! Thanks! :)
Would love you to review the Buck Mason Field Spec shirts! Want to know how they compare to other heavyweight shirts offered
Same, it's my favorite shirt and is what I expected him to be wearing in this video
Just finished re-watching your 'Selling all my watches for a Daytona video' - amazing to see the Pioneer is still on the wrist. Can't get enough of your videos!
Hey, enough about Tshirts, is that a Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer on your wrist? Do a wristwatch video. Good channel. Keep it up!
My favorite T shirts are American Giant, Brave star, Goodwear and Camber. They each offer light and heavy options.
Man I have searched for reviews after after reviews. This is exactly what I was looking for
. Thank you
Whats the watch you're wearing in this video I like it a lot
I picked up the Hanes Beefy white blanks based off a recommendation of yours from a previous video. For the price, it’s my favorite.
Is the Uniqlo Crew Neck only $15 for womens and $20 for mens? Just curious why the video has it set at $15 price tag
Hey man, how come no Bronson? Came up in your earlier videos so have just ordered one from China. Hopefully not a bad decision? So many of these brands are hard to find in the UK 😞
hanes comfort fit BABY!!! 60%rayon 40%polyester = the softest shirt, and sorta thin so super breathable and light
I don't want a shirt that's not fully cotton
For what it's worth- I strongly prefer the 1950s and 1920s tees from Merz b, I find that the fabrics and fits are both more appealing than the 215 shirt.
It's actually funny since a close friend of mine is the only child of Sally Fox! She is an absolute gem of a person and seeing some of her cotton raw in person was stunning! Really a true pioneer that deserves the attention she's getting!
Been really liking both Reigning Champ, and Tomorrow's Laundry shirts. Definitely check those out
Camber, Outlier, Unbound Merino, Western Rise, Flathead, Sunspel's Sea Island Cotton, Icebreaker, Patagonia Capilene Cool, Taylor Stitch Heavybag
I like the old made in America Buck Mason Field spec shirts, they are heavy AF. Great base layer for winter under flannels
Great video again! The Bronson MFG Co. shirts are some of my favorites - have you checked those out? Someday I'll get a wonderloop t-shirt someday!
+1 for Bronson
P&Co Crafted Heavyweight T-Shirts are good. I like them same as UNIQLO
Man, really enjoying your videos! Would love to hear your take on Unbound Merino's shirts! Have you done a video any of their clothing? Looked but didn't find one.
I would review left field nyc loopwheel t shirts. I got a two pack a while ago and am tempted to get the hemp blend shirt.
Flowy not flown
algorithm put this on my page and my god i'm glad it did. i've been searching for the perfect t-shirt forever now. found some relatively cheap ones i like (abercrombie essentials) but the collar on them just isn't great. subscribing now!
The Uniqlo t-shirts are awesome. So very soft and great looking. They do get some fuzz in the surface after many washes but the shape stays perfect.
Great video! What is your final thoughts on the Merz B one? Because you did include it in the video but at your rating it hadn’t arrived yet.
Please rate this comment
... if you feel the same
... if it's weird in a wiggly good way
PS: Have a good day
American Giant Everest shirt if you want to try another heavy option. Their regular heavyweight shirts are solid too.
What watch are you wearing? Looks awesome
just came across your vids today - love them thank you!
What about Haynes beefy Ts. I think you were the one that got me on those. How do they compare to Kirtland brand?
Try the “Regular Fit 9.3 oz Jersey Crewneck Tubular T-Shirt” by Time Catcher that you can buy through olderbest. It’s amazing value for money - £18 and it’s heavyweight, tubular knit and allegedly loopwheel but I’m not to sure if it actually is or not. I’ve had mine for about a year and it only gets better with each wash. For sizing I’m 6ft1 and 86kg and a L is great - but the customer service team is brilliant with advice as the sizes are primarily for a Chinese customer base
Great video. Could do with a UK version of you. Any recommendations please?
I know Clutch Cafe stocks the Real McCoys ones. Whitesville is available at American Classics when not sold out and the Merz B at Rivet & Hide or Son of a Stag.
I had the Whitesville tees but they eventually bobbled and the necks stretched out. I currently have the Real McCoys ones and I'm loving them.
I believe Harry Has did one and he's based in the UK
Love your content. Great video on T Shirts!!
Have you heard of Rowan in California? Their 1955 Aster Standard T Shirt is worthy of your review.
Keep up the great work.
Have you looked at American Giant.. or the Flint and Tinder from Huckleberry? The F&T offers several weights in cotton and also a merino wool blend version. The wool is very nice
From the size chart you should have got a S from your dimensions. But the M fit you great. You had to size up?
I second the nod for Bronson Loopwheeled Tubular Athletic T-Shirt. Hands down, by the far THE BEST value for money loopwheeled t-shirt (although they're not using old timey loopwheel machines, instead they have modern tubular knit process that produces similar fabric but more efficiently). My vote for best overall t-shirt is The Flat Head THC. I've looked at and sampled almost every T on this list and many others, including the Merz B 215 (which I really don't like), and for me, there's nothing that's even a close 2nd, forget even a contender. It's definitely not for everyone, though.
would like to get your thoughts on the Robert Baraket T SHIRTS
What jeans you wearing big boy? Love the fit
Hey just wondering how tall you are as I am also of shorter stature with slightly abnormal proportions and also have trouble getting the look right. Nice review
Hello Michael , Ralph Lauren makes a decent Tshirt- it’s the shirts with the multi colored logo . Bought a few , silky texture.
What type of Lee jeans are those? Can't find anything about them in any of your other videos
We love to see a short-sleeve henley style t-shirt review. I've been on the hunt for weeks.
Would be good to see Allevol. Both their standard ones and, if you want to try a different fit, the permanent style collab/version
Great video once again! Do you mind sharing which watch you are wearing throughout the vid?
hamilton khaki i think
@@oat970 I don't think so
I'm going to check out your other T-shirt videos right now. But I honestly can't believe that Hanes beefy tea didn't make it to this list. It is I swear the best T-shirt I've ever owned for the price. It's nice heavy durable comes in pocketees I love it.
Other key tshirts I don't think you've done yet, in order of importance:
Sunspel sea island cotton tee (must be sea island)
Warehouse 4601
UES Ramayana
3sixteen pima
McHill
CDLP
Industry of all nations clean crew
Then pretty much all of the Japanese denim brands have their own very HQ tshirt (Studio d, Stevenson, Real McCoys, Strike Gold, etc, etc)
Great video! You should make a video trying to find the best crewneck sweatshirt as well!
Try Enkalda. I have many of their shirts and they are awesome for me. Made in the USA - 7.5 oz cotton
Have you tried Hanes Beefy Ts? Super cheap, decently heavy, and I kinda like the fit! I bought a bunch of their pocket shirts.
Great video, Michael! I’ve always been partial to the Ministry of Supply Atlas Tees, but they may be too thin for this crowd.
