Hello everyone, THANKS FOR WATCHING!!! Little fun fact about me: I have an actual melt down for around 6 - 12 hours after posting a video. Anyways, just wanted to say hi. I'm excited to start posting vlogs on the new channel: www.youtube.com/@TheTaleofTheIronSnail . Also, lemme know if there are any vid ideas you have...always interested to get your thoughts. Okay. Okay, meltdown time.
Would love for you to somehow do a collaboration with Weston from rose anvil! He likes your channel a lot and you two would make a great video or series of videos together! Great content as always your Snailness!
It would be cool to see some seasonal clothes. Your picks in this video are great, but I'm hesitant to go on a buying frenzy because its sweltering and I can't wear them "right now!" As we head toward autumn, maybe make up some outfits for the season.
I am not into the heritage aesthetic at all, yet I keep watching your videos - they’re cool, you’re a great narrator and it’s interesting to learn about the nuances and elements of heritage designs. Those shoes though, amazing.
Former fashionista here and appreciate the items you mentioned. That filson jacket is very nice. Also love the locations you shoot your videos in. I want to believe that's NYC but I'm sure it isn't.
Hey, I’m not really into fashion but I’ve become more interested in this topic since discovering you from a wool coat review. So thank you for your content.
I was surprised to see Jim Green on here! As you say its not expensive at all for what you get, and its the only thing on here I actually own. I love my Vellie's and plan on getting an AR8 when my current 'combat boot' dies. I've gotten compliments about the same chestnut roughout ones you've shown and they are my go to shoe.
Great to see you do your favorite things and show why you love ‘em, everyone has different tastes and some aren’t for me or others but as long as they’re worth it to you, good quality and can stand up to many wears are what makes them great, better than most fashion designer brands pumping out these days Also you have to do a new denim collection? Wanna see what else you have in your wardrobe and how the wear has been on your pants and the various fits you own that aren’t too tight anymore
If you like the Jim Green boots but want a more narrow last, grab a pair of their shoellies. They developed the narrow last and it fits me way better and these shoes (or the baobab boots) look fantastic.
About 25 years ago I had a closet full of Filson clothes and luggage that I'd bought over the years and used on countless backcountry fishing trips and other adventures. When I got rid of everything I owned about 12 years ago, I got amazing money for even the most worn out stuff selling it on ebay. It tickles me to see Filson and these other brands become fashionable, not that I didn't always thnk they were great looking, but they don't generally have to put up with the wear and tear (at least generally) that they were made for. It reminds me of a story a friend of mine told me about how thrilled he was when roads were washed out in Malibu, that he and all the others Range Rover owners, got to use the fire roads to get to to their offices in Santa Monica and Beverly Hills. Anyway, now I'm an old man living in Bali and find this all very amusing.
Ever think you'd try out a pair of PNW boots ? I love my JK fire inlanders for tree climbing and feel like these sorts of boots might be up your alley style wise . Love the videos dude.
Have you done a video on tailoring? I’m 5’6” with maybe 27” inseam. The few pairs of pants I’ve had altered were fine. Never had jeans altered because I’m afraid they’ll not have a factory hem. What should I ask when picking a tailor? Also how do you get jackets tailored? I’m a 42 short but the sleeves and bottom of jackets are always too long. Thanks for the videos Michael. They really are well produced and informative.
Ah, you speak of the short man’s woes. I am 5’ 1” with a 26” inseam. I would suggest Peter Manning NYC, a clothing company that caters to short men. It’s really nice to buy clothes that don’t require any tailoring! If you want to keep your current line of jackets/shirts and want them tailored, have the tailor take sleeve up at the shoulder rather than at the cuffs, especially if it’s a knit, buttoned, or zippered cuff. It’ll be more expensive, but it will look more natural than just shortening the cuff at the end, leaving a shortened zipper/placket or a cuff without any closure. As for jeans, most tailors can color match the factory threading, but if you want to keep the factory hemline, a skilled tailor can remove the hem, shorten the legs, and reattach the hem. Hope my suggestions help! 😊
Man those Fracaps weird me out, something unnatural looking about an approach boot with such a short upper. Lotta cool stuff on that list, love the Wellen shirt and I ordered a pair of JGs a few days ago I hope are great.
Hi Michael, love your content! I was wondering how the Knickerbocker shoes sizing is compared to Nike or New Balance, I usually have a size 9 in those brands. But with leather dressed shoes I usually need to size down.
quick question. I'm looking for a low profile/slim moc toe boot. I don't want a regular moc toe like a Thorogood because they are kind of bulky. I own a pair of Timberland Earthkeepers which are moc toe-ish and I love the lower profile of the toe, but I'd like something that's a bit higher quality. I saw that Thursday has a pair but I've never owned a pair of Thursday boots. What do you think? Also I can't afford a pair of $600 boots lol. I was thinking $250 max.
Tangentially related to the video because I see you’ve got the double bridges on. I like ray ban frames and lenses but not the conspicuous branding. I always scratch it off the lens with a penny. 😂 people make fun of me sometimes when I tell them I do this, but I have no intentions of reselling my sunglasses or moving them on, I buy them to protect my eyes from the sun in a stylish way.
Oh wow, i grew up right next to Red Lion, PA (or "Rhetline" as locals say lol) and had no clue denim was from there! Historically lots of manufacturing/production in this area of PA though and even though its a fraction of what it was post war, there are still a lot of companies in thr area (harley, American hydro, hershey, herrs, utz, kellogs, just to name a few)
As a dane, its so cool your gf chose our small country to study in, and i ofc know itll be one of the first destinations for the iron snail store! Btw thanks for leaving the coat for 1 of us 😂
I thought you were going to say red wing boots. I’ve had iron rangers for 5 years. They’re still in fantastic shape because I always oil them with mink oil.
Hmmm, I actually have to think about this one...I'm getting more into layering lately BUT if I had to pick one it'd probably be a Filson Mackinaw cruiser with a waxed down vest over it!
Oh yeah Glen. Super special guy that has months of backlog and will charge $75 for overnight shipping and is impossible to get a hold of and won’t get back to you. Super nice guy. Lmao.
i own none of these but when the iron snail jacket comes out ill maybe (very large maybe) buy it. i like these more avant-garde clothes but damn this shit expensive
Being robbed while on vacation or traveling is painful enough, being robbed with an authentic bag is even worse, I agree with your point about buying fakes from *amzclothes* for personal safety reasons
First is find a brand that you can afford and really like. Once you find a brand you like and can afford. You can never regret it everytime you buy then. Levi jeans, grant stone boots, are the brand i really like. The shirt and jacket are any brand for me.
I don't even know wtf that means, but if it was meant negatively. I don't think so. This is the 3rd or 4th vid I've watched and he just seems like he really just finds this stuff interesting and exciting. It's actually pretty cool. It takes courage to put yourself out there in the world to share your passion.
I have splurged in my younger years on luxury or higher end clothings. I now wear very cheap clothing. Because its all junk. No matter what you spend on clothes, it’s all junk. Find what fits you well, stick to that. Rarely can you see or notice a difference in higher end brands. Usually the higher end brands will unthread or tear quicker than most cheap brands. Not worth it.
I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree. I've said this previously in a reply to a different comment, but there are brands out there making high-quality stuff. You just have to look for it, and yes, I understand it's more expensive, but by any chance you get the budget for it, go for it. Yes, there are a lot of name brands out there. That a lot of people know, especially high luxury brands ( You're mostly playing for the name, then quality). That exists. But try not to think that everything (even less known brands that make high-quality) isn't good quality.

Would love to see regret list
It has been settled then!
keep in mind that all the items are sponsored by each vendor, so a list of regrets is a very relative thing
Same list

Absolutely love your videos. Your pacing and cinematography is top notch and your personality (persona?) is always a blast!

Agreed. Have some in the Fudge color, darkens considerably once you condition it. Size down a half size from your sneakers.
Just wanted to say great video, truly. Haven’t seen many “educational” videos anywhere close to as entertaining as yours. Just absolutely great
Really excited to see what you've done with creating your own wool coat
started watching a few days ago...my favorite person on this platform by a long shot

For me it’s the Filson to cloth short lined cruiser, and Nick’s Boots builder pro. Both worth every penny and will last 10 years easily
I am curious on the length and weight that you intent your coat to be.

God Wythe looks 100% up my alley. Anyone know any European stores that carry them? I don't wanna deal with overseas shipping and the big extra costs.
I wish I could spend so much on a white sweater but I would stain it instantly 🤣
I liked the tee and the sweater very much
