It's worth nothing Jantelagen is not a popular ideal--it was, after all, originally satire--stating that someone can never be better, smarter, more skilled, etc., than how they were born, and is frequently criticized. You see a similar mindset in some poor communities in the American south ("geting above your raising") which leads to certain groups ostracizing successful individuals and discouraging any kind of hard work or social mobility. This is the complete opposite of, say, many Asian immigrant communities, where it's encouraged for children to become more educated and wealthier than their parents.

A good costume designer will do this. Why he/she will need to know the scene. Is it a scene with tension? Comedy? Sadness? Violence? Etc.

I challenge the assertion that "You need a lot of money to dress in the quiet luxury style" Actually you do not-you need to know how to identify luxury fabrics and quality construction along with the basic styles (such as blazer, pants, skirt, shirt, etc) to make up your wardrobe. Then I go to resale, thrift or charity stores and buy -for instance-cashmere sweaters for pennies on the dollar. I recently bought a stunning quality cashmere sweater set for *gasp* $25 (and benefitted the charity shop too). Take your finds to a tailor if needed and have them fitted if that's needed. Less expensive and way more green than poor quality clothes made in China, and you'll look like you came from generational wealth.

Truly wealthy people don’t even wear these “quiet luxury” brands as Succession suggests. There is no “formula” or “rule” and rich people don’t buy things always because they are expensive. They buy it because they like it or need it. Truly rich people also buy "normal" brands like Lacoste, Levi's, Rayban, Pantagonia, Ralph Lauren, etc etc... and they also buy very well-known luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci etc etc... This is all marketing and people still believe it that truly rich people will spend $600 for a cap... If the truly rich need a cap, they buy a good cap from any common sports brand! Truly rich people are not stupid! And even though there are some very rich people buying $600 caps, they are not the majority. As I said, there is no rule or uniform that all rich people use to be understood as rich. People spend their money in different ways and it’s not always on fashion. Truly rich people actually go bespoke or to a tailor when they need more formal clothes and they dress casual with all type of brands with all types of prices (high and low). They don´t think this way like the "quiet luxury" trend wants us to believe!

Actually, if you look closely, it's a Burberry knock-off! It's missing the side straps from the authentic bag. (No, I don't actually know this. I researched it.) I suspect the wardrobe people have a sense of humor and wanted an inside joke.

This is probably a dumb question, but is more expensive cashmere less itchy? I purchased a $120 cashmere sweater from Everlane in 2019 and I could barely stand to wear it. I even attempted wearing another blouse underneath it but my skin said "nope!" whenever the cashmere touched me, haha. I've had my eye on a couple Ralph Lauren cashmere pieces but am worried that I'll have the same reaction!

The Roys are definitely new money as their wealth isn’t multi-generational, you can see the distinct differences between them and the Pierce family who are actual old money.
One of the subplots is how Logan has been rejected by the old money establishment regardless of his wealth, them wearing quiet luxury is intentional and a way to try an “fit in”, Lucas is the opposite of that somewhat embracing his new money status even though he too is trying to to craft an image

Showing no logos is the best thing. It’s opposite what the Chinese want. They are always wanting to show the logos so they can show off to their friends and family that they have some money. I lived in Asia and saw this constantly. I even saw one guy still wearing a stitched on temp logo of a suit on the outside of his jacket sleeve. I told him that it should be cut off he immediately said “NO”. That he wanted his friends and relatives to see that. To give everyone the impression that he had some money. Even though it looked odd to leave it on the jacket sleeve. That’s why I think most people buy these expensive pieces so they can then show off that designer label. It’s ALL about the label. The name. Crazy.

Old money people take care of their clothes, and keep wearing them throughout their lives. They choose classic styles because then their clothes never look dated, and some pieces can be handed down and worn by younger generations. They also wear cheaper stuff when convenient, such as during general public/press/charity appearances, when they need to look approachable. Invitations to red carpet events, give them all the opportunities they could ever want or need to dress fancily.
