- Psalm 97 continues in the theme and tone of the previous psalms. It uses phrases found in other psalms and other Old Testament passages. The author of Psalm 97 took those phrases and shaped them into a beautiful hymn. It emphasizes the awe and glory of God in His royal rule over humanity.

Its...
YHVH SOVEREIGN!
Love God, hate evil, soul preserved...
Those who love God, their soul is preserved, they are the ones that in this day and age are often labeled racist, sexist, bigot, homophobe, xenophobe, and Islamophobe simply because they do not compromise, tolerate, or lukewarm toward evil.
Their soul is preserved by God, they are the ones who chose to love God and hate evil regardless of the threat of violence and coercion (fear and deceit).
Thank you for the enduring word.
You are welcome. Blessings in Jesus name.
Today is Christmas Day. This psalm is usually read or sung on this day. Another psalm that can be read or sung on Christmas Day is Psalm 98. And here is hoping that everyone reading this has a Merry Christmas.
I have enjoyed many of your Biblical thoughts in your commentaries. Since I am reading in I Kings this week, I wanted to say that while I agree that the psalmist has Mt. Sinai in mind, I believe he also was recalling the same cloud that appeared at Solomon's temple dedication (more recently, in his eyes). And that as events unfolded in subsequent years, he saw the drifting from faithfulness that occurred then (and occurs naturally in all of us if we do not diligently watch). And so he calls us back to worship of the true God. Or maybe I'm crazy :)
Not to be demanding lol but will you eventually make videos for Genesis and Proverbs? And whatever else is missing. We love you Pastor Guzik!
Thank you so much, Trish! Well, we are constantly working on updating our content! And although Genesis or Proverbs are not currently planned, we hope that we can get to those books eventually!
