Same! The best way to bond males is to provide them a large space, separate food and water sources and just let them get to understand they aren't competing. The dynamic between the males in the first part of this video is obviously fighting over competition of a food source. They don't have ANYWHERE to go to feel safe and try again so it results in a fight because they are just constantly getting amped up. They need those hides to wind down for a moment before trying again and they need separate food source so they feel safe eating until they get used to each other and can eat together. Both my males were highly aggressive to each other, they had a fight fights where they basically turn into a ball of chaos. After correcting the issues, the fights stopped and now they live together and freak out if I take one without the other out of the cage.
With Ezra & Vision’s circling around the hay I thought I was watching two gladiators ready to fight to the death! Sorry it didn’t work out, and blood was shed, but so glad the girls are getting along well!
I have been very fortunate with all my male guinea pigs.I have three males living together and two are brothers. All the very best to you with your bonding efforts.🤗
At one point I had 4 boys (Charlie, Stewart, Noah & Finn) with only one successful male bond (Charlie & Finn). Their bond was intense, in a good way. It started off with 21 day old Finn running to Charlie to nurse from him, & Charlie let him! Whenever I would take one out of the cage the other would SCREAM out & run around frantically looking for the other. Unfortunately Charlie unexpectedly passed away in September of 2020. I think it broke Finn’s heart. He’s never been the same since losing his adoptive dad. They were together for 2 years. I feel so lucky to have two males bond so deeply. After Stewart’s passing in October 2021, both Noah & Finn are now neutered. Noah lives with his sister Penelope, & Finn lives with Lola & his mother Delilah.
My herd of 6 girls still have dominance fights ever so often with the middle three. Herd leader and second in command also fight but that's normally for food. Bottom of the herd doesn't fight she's still a baby and the herd sees her as a baby and she'll go cuddle with herd leader. My other three are teenagers and often fight for who's third in command. I never have to step in because herd leader will step in and stop them. Even after the fights they go back to normal. There is a teen leader and other two submit to her, but sometimes they want to challenge it.
Great video!! The five piggies are still feeling eachother out it seems.. the video of them sleeping in the bottom bunk beds was the cutest Ever!! I hope the group of five are able to work the kinks out!
i also have a guinea named wanda! she has red eyes and is a ginger/brown colour. I loved the show wanda vision and in a few months i plan on getting a fourth piggie and naming her vision. love your videos! i hope to also order from your etsy shop soon :)
im so happy that you finally had a successful bonding! sorry to see that the first one didnt work out though, maybe if you got vision neutered he could join this big herd one day
I have a herd of 18 piggies, a neutered boar with a bunch of sows. I also have two other males that each live next to each other because the one kept the other from the food all the time even though there were two bowls and two hay racks. Sometimes it just doesn’t work which sucks.
Bonding male guinea pigs is very difficult but one thing i learned is you should never ever interact in their fights while bonding. Until there is any actual agresivness like biting and stuff. This all is just how they show dominance which yes it's pretty painfull to watch. 😂 Edit: i am aware he got bitten which is a problem!
I also bought one of my piggies from the petstore, because she has bright red eyes she had a hard time getting adopted. A woman screamed at her once and another person said she was of the devil because of her red eyes, but she's so sweet.
I'd like to thank you for also stating that sometimes it doesn't work. Our two boars never worked out. We tried in a 2x8' area and the one would lunge, mount, spray and bite to hurt the other. They're still side by side with a small divider but otherwise will even try to bite through bars. Milo is also a really big pig and Zeak is a dominant personality.
He would need to be neutered and wait six weeks then. I don’t think he is going down the route of neutering so baby boy would suit him better , fingers crossed 🤞
Brilliant blogg!!!! Really enjoyed it!!!! But I know I would not get piggies!!! I don’t have the time to dedicate to them!!! Love watching them!!! Thank you much!!! Ann from England xxx

do your piggies not push the grids to escape? mine have figured out they can do that to any unsecured grid panel and they know they can LIFT them and escape that way. My 3 boars have never had real issues but 2 are a dad/son pair and have been together since the baby was 2 weeks old and the third doesn't know he's a boy pig or a guinea pig at all. LOL. Then all of a sudden, they stated to fight. Not just tiff, but bite & bleed one another. So we separated them with a wire guard. They were ok mostly, but still charged each other or chewed on the wire to try and get to each other. We have moved to separated cages where they can hear each other, but not see each other. He weaks when he sees me, wants a snack and sprawls out on my lap in cuddle time almost right after getting a treat. I hope that's just a preference thing too. Lucky fit her, the docile one loves her like the aggressive one likes me.
when i was younger i had gotten 2 boys from the pet store and thankfully we had NEVER had any problems with dominance bc i would have no idea what to do
We have had successful bonding, but we’re having a tough time with our boy Petrie. We had a fail bonding session and returned a boy. Then we got Zazu and it seemed to go well off the bat. But a couple weeks in, they keep breaking out into fights. Last night blood was drawn. Is it a fail or is there hope after some time with a divider? Not sure if it is a myth that blood drawn means there is no chance of pair.
If blood is drawn separate them. There is a VERY low chance the bond will work and I would recommend getting them each there own friend and keeping the cages next to each other so they can still get enrichment from each other.

I have a question I DONT want to breed guinea pigs but I’ve heard that female and male are better to bond. I have one male guinea pig and I’m planning on getting a second one so he can have a better life with a bond. But I know there is a 20 percent chance of success with males. I know I can bond a male baby with and adult male and it will be more successful but I want to adopt not shop . Do you have any tips ? Should I just get a female and separate them/ get my pig fixed or should I try with a male and then separate if it’s not successful?
Great video I wanna know your opinion is it easier to bond girls than it is easier with boys? And how many boys can be in a cage can you have four in one cage if it’s big enough or is it better to have more girls in a cage
you can have over 50 girls together!!! obviously not recommended but there is no limit!! ive tried bonding boys and it did not go well 😂 i don’t recommend 😂😂
@@guineapigparadise8042 you can have as large of a herd of girls as long as they bond. sometimes you get clashing personalities and they won’t bond with the herd but it’s not as likely. usually when adding a new pig to a herd of females you want to get one that’s younger than the rest, but a lot of times it goes fine with females of any age
I loved watching so I know what's not normal behavior I mean clearly I can tell if ones getting aggervated but this let me know also I know u said where u got ur piggy bunk beds at before in a video bit I can find it I just have to have one
So I am new to piggies and just realized a little too late I introduced my two young boys wrong. They're both a few weeks from weaned I think one is older. They mostly get along now. No marks or blood, but there is lots of grumbles and sounds. Do you think they'll be ok? I'm hoping they willl I wasn't planning on more than 2 pigs and I do have a secondary cage for worst case but maybe not the room to set them both up? getting tight. due to other animals this is the biggest covered cage I can find. I'm wondering if they'll bond in time since they're not hurting each other. IT's been over a week since they've been tossed intogether. Yes I see it should have gone more slowly but whats done is done at this point? Looking for advice.
Sounds like you need to get a baby monitor for your bonding sessions I thought about getting one when I was doing introductions with my boy rats they can be a little bit difficult I will probably get one before I try reintroducing my oldest to my two youngest rats my mischief has kinda fallen apart recently
Are your piggies boys are girls? because if they’re girls there is a very high chance that it’ll work because of the age difference. But what I recommend is having a good sized bonding pen that has been cleaned or is new before putting the pigs in. Distract them with hay and veggies and try to keep the experience as positive as possible. Before you bond them try to have the pigs living side by side for a while to see how they react to each other and so they can get used to each other. Those are some of the things I have done in past bondings and I have had all successful bondings doing it. I hope it goes well!
@@missgirl368 You shouldn’t have 2 males and 1 female. The males will fight over the female and it could end up badly. I highly recommend you just keep your 2 males and don’t add anymore. It’s not really safe.
My first guinea pig was alone for almost 3 months because my kids grandma didn't know they did better in pairs. She thought the pet store was trying to get rid of their last pig with the one she was getting. And I wasn't ready for 1 pig, had no clue they were coming home with him. Had the small cage, cheap food, small plastic hut. But we got him out for most of the day and he played with our cats. I kept joking he was turning into one. When I started thinking of getting him a friend I couldn't find one. But when I did I knew right away he was the one. 8 weeks old and the same temperament as our boy. I was SO worried about bonding, but it didn't even take a hour. I saw our boy do things he never had done with us or the cats. He became a piggy again. They are best buds. They do everything together. Both love to be cuddle and held all the time, so it made getting things done a bit hard. Their like babies. So I invested in a critter cuddler. Best thing ever. Big brother introduced little brother to the kitty's and when their in their "free roam" pin in the livingroom the cats will sit on one side and the piggy's on the other. Once our baby gets a bit bigger I will let them run around the house for a bit. I just want him bigger.
“Calm your balls” I’m going to use this phrase as often as possible now 😂
“it’s like straight males, they’re their own breed” 😭😭🤣🤣 yes
Rawr
No truer words were ever spoken!
The lack of testosterone in this video is horrifying.
In my experience, having more than one pile of hay is best that way the less dominant piggies can avoid the drama and nibble comfortably to the side.

I say if Vision is that aggressive, then yeaah neutering may help, and hey, bonus could bond him with the girls and he could be with the girls.
Neutering guinea pigs doesn’t change their behaviour it just makes them unable to breed.
Hi I need tips to bond my 2 month and my 1year piggies
Are your piggies boys are girls? because if they’re girls there is a very high chance that it’ll work because of the age difference. But what I recommend is having a good sized bonding pen that has been cleaned or is new before putting the pigs in. Distract them with hay and veggies and try to keep the experience as positive as possible. Before you bond them try to have the pigs living side by side for a while to see how they react to each other and so they can get used to each other. Those are some of the things I have done in past bondings and I have had all successful bondings doing it. I hope it goes well!
@@GuineaSquiggles thank you so much they are boys I’m getting a girl soon
If you are saying you have 2 males already and you are planning on adding a girl with them I would strongly advise you NOT to do this!!!
They will fight over her..
Might be getting a piggy after my ratties
Calm your balls! He's just trying to eat his hay! 😆🤣
