I've heard my piggy chirp a couple of times. It was always late at night when she's sleeping. Then she's always relieved when I check on her and give her some cuddles. She even gives me a purr as she settles back in for the night. I think that she was having a nightmare. One time she "demanded" to sleep with me. When I went to check on her she leapt into my hand and started weeking and wouldn't stop until I made a little bed for her out of towels and a small cat bed I had. She spent the night next to me on the couch cuddled up to my arm. So I definitely think chirping is a fear response. In this case from bad dreams.

I had a guinea pig when I was a child (around 10years old) ..One memory of her I will never forget is she was in my lap and I was rubbing her back, she did this little rumble noise that was longer than usual and kicked out her back legs (like sprawling) and just completely relaxed in my lap and let me rub her while I watched tv. Im 26 now and that memory of her still warms my heart and seeing that sprawling means that she fully trusted me makes it even better
I watched this video and got so excited when i heard the chutting one. I was holding my boy today and he was chutting, i thought he was annoyed so i felt bad, but after seeing that i am happy.
I loved when my baby Marvin would wheek and purr when my jewelry would clank on my metal dresser knobs. He loved the sound. That's why sometimes he would frantically run to his little bell and ring it. It made him so happy! Of course, he also would purr when he heard our footsteps, and that made me happy too. He was a solo piggy because I didn't know you should have at least two as I was a first time owner. However, I think he had a very happy life and knew I loved him. I miss him a lot. ❤️
One time, my piggo chirped in the middle of the night, and I needed to talk to him to make him calm by talking. I think that this is a sound of fear/loneliness
It has been years since I had Ginnea pigs. After seeing this, I think I want another. Mine used to wheek whenever I rustled the plastic veggie bags or the Wal Mart bags.
I've only heard chirping from one of my piggies one time. it was genuinely kind of terrifying because i had NEVER heard that sound come from them before. i still have no clue what caused it, as not much goes on in my room, so there wasn't anything that i know of that could have caused them to be alert because of any sort of danger.

The example you show for "Chutting" is by far the closest example i have to a sound one of mine does. I guess it just is chutting, but the whisper to chuttings speech, as its a lot softer and quieter.
My piggy started to wheek to me after 2 days i had him. I think he realized, that i dont hear the sounds he is making,so he started to do this loud wheeking. I think they are intelligent and they adjust and adapt to us. He is doing teeth chattering when i am cutting vegetables when im cooking. I guess he wants to say Dont you dare to forget to give me some pieces 😄 He is always happy jumping after i give him some. And recently he started to do a new noise when i have him in my lap. He is lying on his belly, head up,looking on me and doing that sound. I cant describe it. But it is like he was speaking to me. It sounds positive 🙂
We used to have two Guinea Pigs when I was a kid, Rosie and Gavin(Lived in different cages if memory serves), and most of the sounds I heard were Wheeking and Chutting...glad to know that those were happy sounds! ♥

4:37 they can also make this noise in the middle of the night. Most likely because of a nightmare. I typically went to the affected guinea pig, cuddle with it to calm down (as well as talking to it, so that it knows that it's safe around me), give a bit of food, and after few minutes they should be fine
Whenever guests come over and ask what is in the cage, I ask them to rustle the bag that’s next to the cage and they run out of their hiding spot and wheek like crazy
I’ve never had a Guinea pig before, but i’m learning how responsive & loving they are. I have cats, so I don’t think I can have piggies, but they’re so cute!
Can you do facts about if your guinea pig likes/is comfortable with you and how to make them do so if they're still scared? I would love a video like that!
I have never been around guinea pigs, but we had a neighbor who was going off to college and decided she couldn’t take care of her less than a year old Abyssinian anymore so she gave him to my 7-year old daughter. I cannot believe I went 40 years without having the pleasure of owning one. I had absolutely no idea how affectionate and loving they could be, nor did I know how much personality they had. I guess we could have gotten lucky and been gifted an especially affectionate and friendly creature, but I really feel like I missed out all these years by not knowing them. He spends most of his day begging to be picked up (in the rare moments that he’s not already being held!) and he is just the sweetest creature ever.
BROOO, my little pig started wheeping when the noise was played, and i felt so bad cause he dosent have a friend untill like 1 month when hes castradet
My oldest has made it a few times, and every time it has been because she seen the silhouette of a cat behind window curtains. It's a very odd experience, the other girls all go completely silent and motionless, even when I go check on them, the normal wheeking and scrambling to get my attention first, is entirely gone until I get her to calm down and stop. (and not to worry the cat is more afraid of them than they are afraid of the cat, it's just her not being sure what she saw. =) )
Thanks for the Guinea Pig Lessons I have 2 at home and now I can fully understand them I also find wheeking the most interesting sound as it's a sound they only make at humans and not eachother and that wild guniea pigs do not make the sound Edit 26/5/22: one of them sadly passed away yesterday Edit 16/ 7/22: my other guinea pig passed away
My mum rescued 2 full grown pigs from some PoS "home", they'd been abandoned.. They made no noise for the first week, very quiet and still.. but then we started to learn about them and what they like.. Kale and cucumber turned out to be faves, as soon as the 2nd day of greens came, they were "wheeking" at me. Now (3-4 months later) they come charging up whenever I open the shed door, they are massively happy and thriving! If anyone sees this, are there any toys or scratch posts that they like? Very contradictory answers on Google..
I was forced to abandon my 1st female guinea pig but a couple months later I purchased a male I make some adjustments to his cage they like those spin wheels where they run in circles I gave him a small bed as well I’m going to see how it likes his new wheel then “currently playing with it right now” and I’ll proceed with newer toys . He also likes to chew on everything 😂😂😂
@@Dr.KyraHankston yes! I tried a water bowl as they ignore the bottle a d every day its flipped over 🤣 will have to get a wheel, one of thems really big so I'll need a decent wheel!

Super cute
BROOO, my little pig started wheeping when the noise was played, and i felt so bad cause he dosent have a friend untill like 1 month when hes castradet
Good lesson! I have not heard the chirping that I remember
This is a great video! I don’t even have GP’s, but I really enjoyed it. Good information.
I learned a lot thank you
I'm playing these for my guinea pigs rn and they're getting so excited lmfaooo
miss my piggies so much :’)
Same
thank you this was very informative! I love the wheeking its cute
I feel bad now. My Guinea pig thinks the ones on the screen are real 😞
Mine are busy stuffing their face. They could care less
Mine too!
Thank you for this! This is helping me with communication with my guinea pigs.
My guinea pigs are so mean each time i go near them they call me weak
That joke was lame asf
This is so helpful because I’m getting Guinea pigs and I’m doing research so thank you!
Thanks for the Guinea Pig Lessons
I have 2 at home and now I can fully understand them
I also find wheeking the most interesting sound as it's a sound they only make at humans and not eachother and that wild guniea pigs do not make the sound
Edit 26/5/22: one of them sadly passed away yesterday
Edit 16/ 7/22: my other guinea pig passed away
my guinea pig just yell in my ear like i am deaf now
Oop
I'm so grateful for this video 😁
whenever my guinea pig is with me, i don’t know if she’s complaining or chutting
CHUTTING! Thank you! Learned a new word of the main sound that my piggies make🥰
They also teeth chattering if I’m to slow to bring the food 😂
Thank you so much! I got two piggies on 1/15/22 so this helps a lot!
And flip things over in the cage 😂
@@Dr.KyraHankston yes! I tried a water bowl as they ignore the bottle a d every day its flipped over 🤣 will have to get a wheel, one of thems really big so I'll need a decent wheel!
@@serwalkerofthekeynes8761 yeah the wheels are easy to find at petco or petsmart I started with a small one for like $8.99 but I think I may need a bigger one soon 😭 I have a 1bd apartment I started to let him run around a little bit I think he hates his cage now but I hate it when he goes under the couch or my night stand 🙄 just be ready for little poops everywhere easier to clean if you have carpet and a vacuum and maybe some carpet freshener haha
I had two guinea pigs they were both males they faded all the time but then my one of the boys they died his name is Carl still standing is fidget he literally makes sense all the time this is really helping me understand what he’s saying or what he means thank you so much for making this video.
Newborns have a constant wheek to keep their mom informed where they are .
My 2 male piggies love each other, I guess they just built different
Wow they are so complicated.
My guinea pig purrs when I pet him and sprawls out, so cute! I’ve only had him for 4 days so far
