I will try to do the bonding again with Jojo & Vision, but this time around making some adjustments to see if it makes things better. Currently, they are living side by side one another and hope it helps both of them open up ✨
Bonding males is so hard 🥲 I’m so sorry it didn’t work out for you this time around. Crossing my fingers for attempt two 🤞🏻 but I think it’s super important to be honest and raw about the difficulties of bonding and it’s great you shared this video!! 💓💓
Don’t beat urself up for it. Piggies are all different and have different personalities. Some piggies will be loners and some are very very social. If they work well together in separate cages, then keep it to that, but yes you can try to bond them again later on. But having them in separate cages is not bad at all. Some piggies just need their own spaces.
Your best bet is to go to a rescue that offers dates where your pig can meet several pigs and pick out his favorite. In the Washington,DC area, MPGR offers a great dating service. I am a foster mother so I am slightly biased.
You are such a kind soul for reducing these babies. I really appreciate how thorough your videos always are and how much work you put into them ! I'm so happy to have found your channel! ♡ can't wait to see what else you share with us!
I used to wake up and listen to work related podcasts. Now I wake up and can't tear myself away from other people's pig bondings. 😅 Thanks for keeping us up to date on your family! ❤️
Sorry it didn’t work out! They might just end up really loving being neighbors 🤗 I had two boys (Finn and Stewart) who enjoyed being neighbors, but would not work living together. They still would sleep and eat right up against the divider, and communicate with each other all the time. They both seemed happy. When Stewart passed away a couple days ago, I let Finn spend time with him to say goodbye and to let Finn know that he was gone. He groomed Stewart and snuggled with him. So it really solidified in my mind, that they can make meaningful, happy bonds with a neighbor. It’s also important to know your limit. Finding a new buddy for each of them was just past my limit financially and space wise. I just found it wouldn’t to be fair to the rest of the gang to bite off more than I could chew. ✌🏽❤️☺️
I know this is an old comment but huge respect to you for assessing your financial and time limits to not go and get two more pigs but still giving them a life of connection and company. It’s great to see that kind of honesty.
thank you for posting more videos and taking your time to try to make the video as enjoying as it can be! i dont have piggies but i have buns but i still love watching your videos! wishing you all the best for the next bonding process!
A little tip for the next time you are going to bond 2 pigs together (wether it's females or males) Keep them in an enclosure that is split up in two and have one guinea pig live on each side of the enclosure. Let them be able to see and smell eachother. After a few days, just switch the two pigs with eachother. Let them explore the other pigs enclosure and leave their scent without the other pig in there. That way they will get to know eachother and get used to eachother without the risk of them getting hurt. Switch them up twice a day for maybe a week and THEN take away the bars that separates them and let them meet properly. I find that this method works the best but TAKE IT SLOW. And one more thing. Depending on the pigs you have, maybe just start by switching their houses and then move on slowly
Just found your account today and totally eating up your content! I don't know why I haven't seen any comments saying this yet but your hair and skin are so beautiful like you are such a beautiful person and so happy to see more fun and educational videos on guinea pigs!
Sometimes, when a pig is telling you he needs you, even in a pet store situation, you just HAVE to respond! I rescued one of my guys from a Pet Smart as soon as I saw him. I had gone in to get more hay and supplies (and usually I shop at small, family owned business that ethically source/rescue their animals), and I heard this little voice calling out. There he was: a barely 3-4 week old baby Peruvian, being housed with a giant grey rabbit and nothing else. He was so underweight and tiny, had hair-loss, ringworm, and his eyes were almost crusted over. He was so stressed out from being constantly kicked and bullied by this big rabbit, I just knew I needed to get him out of there. Even if he had been bought, I knew he would probably not survive long without a family who knew a ton about guinea pigs and how to take of him. I brought him straight to the vet, and took him home. I don’t think he had ever even seen a vegetable in his life! I named him Ernie, and he lived next to my other boys for almost 10 years! Funny thing: because he had been with that rabbit when he was so young, I am pretty sure he always assumed he was one! He had a funny habit of stomping his back foot to display dominance and irritation, like rabbits do! Miss you, Ern. Once he began to thrive, his long, silky agouti locks were so shiny and beautiful, and even though he was always a bit gruff and tough in his personality, I would hear him singing away at night like a little bird!
Should have had some hiding areas and large tunnel. Every place they move their being forced into a faceoff. And they should have been dropped in at same time. Maybe even starting off with a bonding bath. Nothing like the fear of death brings out feelings of connection.
My first boy (guinea pig) was a rescue/buy too! My local Petco had a guinea pig all by himself in conditions that you described and he had his left eye removed due to an infection. They wanted $25 for him but I ended up getting him for free because " he had been there for so long" he's the sweetest! I'm in the process of bonding him to my younger piggie 🤞
As the Mom of a supper aggressive old pig who attacks every other pig he comes into contact with, including my iPad when I’m watching pig videos. I can say, sometimes they’re better off alone. It’s been interested. He was given to me and my daughter with a pet store cage that I replaced with a Midwest. He’s on fleece, and liked interacting with my dog through his cage. She wants to cuddle him constantly. I’ve tried multiple introductions that haven’t worked. He’s good on his own and super chill with me and the dog as long as the cage separates them. He has the guinea dad liners and pushes his tunnels out to close the pocket. He likes being cuddled inside of it. He has a cuddle sack, that he won’t go into and eatable tunnels. He’s a big boy, but he’s going to be alone. That’s ok. It’s not for him to be in a herd. His previous owner had gotten him from a rescue and they’d had him on his own. When she got him home he started out well, but after a week started going after her other pigs. So Chewy is a loner, but he’s ok. Some pigs need to be loners. He’s been in my house four years now and is enjoying being king pig. Even if every once in a while I try another introduction.
Same! One of my boars is an actual nightmare with any other pig, the most aggressive pig I’ve ever seen he just can’t help himself. So he lives alone but up against two other boars… he’s still affectionate with us though, he seems to enjoy snuggles…
Chewy loves snuggles until he doesn’t. He’s one who’ll come get petted a moment and then go back to his pocket. He loves his guinea dad fleece liners with pockets. He won’t go near any other cuddle sacks and very few hidys. Just a tunnel and a pocket is all he’ll use.
Thankyou for rescuing vision. We always think that animals that are in pet stores are well taken care of and i find that to be untrue more often than not which is unfortunate. I dont own any piggies myself, just my kitty named Tom, but love watching your videos!! Thankyou again for taking care of your animals so well. I would hope that parents would actually watch your videos before getting their kids a guinea pig to teach "responsibility" and see how much work it actually is. Sending love and kisses to the piggies from Chicago!!❤✌❤
Sometimes it just doesn't work, don't stress they can be together through bars, it is how my two previously bonded boys live. It worked out until it didn't
Omg I really really loved how you let the natural behavior. I hated bonding males . At one point I did have 5 neutered males living in a Hurd but the bonding process was so scary the lonching made me separate them so many times .
Try not to feel too bad about the bonding not working, I’ve had boys for years and they fall out so easily (even when they’ve already been bonded for years). As sad as it is having to have guinea pigs living in their cages alone, sometimes it is the only option for their safety and it’s one of the hardest decisions to make as a guinea pig owner. I personally got multiple vets advice before separating mine, as long as their cages are close enough to interact with each other and you give them more enrichment they can live happily alone even if it’s not necessarily the best situation. I’d definitely give them both a second try with new pigs - maybe see if there’s a rescue nearby that does bonding for you? Don’t give up yet 😊
I have tried bonding males & what I did to get the other one out is take a small square plastic container to scoop the other one up so it was easier to get them separated without getting bit a towel works as well like he stated in the video but if they are super excited & aggressive I have found it easier to scoop one up with the small plastic tub. I’m scared to get bit 😬
I came across your channel 3 days ago and I immediately had to subscribe because I really like your videos and how you take care of them and give them a nice home.
Maybe the stress was just too much for Jojo that he suddenly freaked out like this after being relatively submissive before. The bad memories might play a role.
Been there many times. But if there's ever any blood from a fight it will never work after that sadly. I've also found that it's hard bonding any guinea pig that's around 3 months old as their hormones are wild at this age and seems to get easier to bond them when they are older.
Poor Jojo. He's going through too much. Just let him live alone. Vision annoyed him the entire time. Jojo had enough. You can't force these things. The signs were there. He's a good baby pig. He's just gone through too much.
Im so lucky my mom got me my guinea pig his name is mr.guineas for my 29th birthday present and he was alone for a month and a half and 2 months in I got my other piggie little Latte (both males) I immediatly put him in and mr. Guineas together and mr.guineas was popcorning and very happy to have a new friend, both bonded in minutes, both the same age. They both love each other, they get territorial at times but nothing huge. They love each other.
I was trying to bond my 2 boys a couple days ago, I also made the mistake of not wrapping my hand just incase. They both started biting, my first instinct was to stick my hand in the middle to separate them, and I got bit pretty badly. Safe to say I haven’t tried it again yet, but hopefully next time it’ll go much better.😫
I hear that Teddys are the sweetest to humans but the worst with other pigs. Scotty has a teddy named Gary and hes the swetest most handsome Teddy too just like Jojo but he literally never has found a match and you can guess how many opportunities he has had with Scotty.
Hi! Just wanna say I love ur videos and leave a bit of advice. Please be careful when u have a divider in between your pigs. Make sure there’s something else between them besides the bars because sometimes they can bite each other through the bars. I recently had an incident like that where one of my pigs bit my other pig’s foot through the bars and it started bleeding a lot.
My two boys started off great but the next day they fought tooth and nail. 😓 Now any attempt in being together they tornado fight within seconds. I guess fences really do make good neighbors
I was curiouse how your bonding would go because I just bonded Two 6Month old boys... it went well and now they live together. But it was crazy.....they teeth chaddered, rumble strutting, and just having each other but now they eat together and "kinda" tolerate sleeping together. But there was never any biting or blood. I'm soooooo happy for them.
Vision seemed like he wanted to boss Jojo around and jojo was having none of it. Constantly shuffling to Jojo slightly sideways and challenging him for dominance- To bad it couldn't work out!
I have a lone guinea pig right now, and the sad thing is I don't think my parents would agree to neuter the pig, so the only option is to get a male. I hope the bonding will go well when we get around to getting a friend for him.
My female pig tiana, she had ring worm from petsmart and I work there and I save her and took her to the vet and brought back to health and I was happy that she ok. Anyway I’m sorry the bonding didn’t go well but I hope u have a good day.
My two male guineas one is actually cool with the other one and is showing his dominance and and the other squeaks and runs away and screaches loud when Oreo tries to mount him for dominance so I’m sad 🥺 Oreo backs off and was grooming him they were fine till Oreo kept trying to mount him.
I got a bubba for a flat mate for my older male and he became all fatherly with him. But he is a real sweetie and even though he's grown up now he lets the older male take the lead. But as you know there's no guarantee with individuals, animals or humans!
Sorry Austin! You can consider getting Nationwide for a male (around $25 per month with a $100 deductible) and look for a vet that can neuter them. Without insurance the procedure is around $500. After your deductible you can get 70% back. It'll allow you to add a boy in with the ladies. Just a thought
Great video! Do you have any suggestions on how to bond two sisters with a new pig? I tried in the past and it didnt work. Should I have tried one old girl with the new girl? Then add in the second old girl if it work or not. My issue is the younger pig is the aggressor, which is unusual. I so want the three in the same cage. It was suggested I do a bonding bath. Is this something you would try?And does it even really work?
I had accidentally babies when the petstore gave me a boy and girl instead of the two girls they said they were. After babies were old enough I had put the one boy in with the father and they were fine for awhile but once the baby grew up they fought. It was scary. I also had to put them in a 3x3 next to each other. So even putting a baby in with a male doesn't always work. I just started watching your videos. My last piggy, the father, just passed away last week. I can't get more piggies due to health reasons and I do so miss him and his wheeking and wanting me to hold him. I think boy piggies are more loveable and don't mind being touched as much. The girls were always very skiddish.
oh gosh, I'm so sorry it didn't go as planned. I recently had the something happen to me and introducing my 4 yr female piggy with a younger female teddy piggy. At first it was ok they were checking each other out sniffing, the older one was rumbling and making noise and the younger one was just totally chill. A few minutes passed and they went after one another. No blood was drawn but a very stressful situation. My older guinea pig lost it cage mate a year a go and did just fine by herself but I felt bad that she was alone and adopted another thinking everything will be ok but its not. Tried a few attempts but same happened. I have them in separate cages and both are happy. Looking forward for an update.
Sorry it didn't work and I'm not sure whether you just forgot to mention in the video but did you wash the grids you used for jojos cage before starting?
Usually I would say even if animals are in poor condition it doesn’t help anyone to “rescue” them from a pet store. Simply because the pet store is just gonna fill their spot with another poorly treated animal. However in this case where you are educating people about it on a RUclips channel it does kind of balance out a bit because even though you are supporting that pet store you are also teaching people about proper care and discouraging them from purchasing animals from chain pet stores.
hey! i have 2 Almost 1yr old piggies, i am maybe getting 3rd piggie for my Birthday next year,Pet store says putting a Baby piggie around 4 months old straight away in with 2 older piggies its fine they say, Should i believe that? should i Do bonding, and how?
I am a mother of just one pig, but he’s a skinny pig. I was wondering what do you use that the pigs don’t pee on the everywhere? I use paper bedding and it’s expensive and annoying to clean and I have to clean it once a week and it’s really nasty. I don’t have any fleece for him, but I am planning on getting some. If you have some suggestions please help!
If you are using fleece, it's almost a must to have pee pads. This will help to avoid doing full cage cleanings more than once a week. I sell jumbo pee pads on my Etsy shop if you are interested in any. Hope this helps!
Are u going to do buddy bath for jojo n vision? cause i see it is pretty convincing since i saw autumn did it for her piggies. My boys guinea pig also dont get along well and my second guinea pig came with wound and split ear, i think he got worst experience with other guinea pig at previous owner. I want to try buddy bath but yeah bonding gp is so stressful and see my gps bleed can bleed my heart too:(
@@autumngrace. great!!! I would love to see how it is going with jojo and vision and i actually excited for ur buddy bath video so i can try to my boys guinea pig🤩
Has anyone had any success bonding a third male to a bonded pair of males? My roommate is moving out and is leaving her Guinea pig with me. I don’t want him to be a lonely boy, but I’m nervous to try and bond him with my boys because they have always gotten along great and I don’t want to sour a good thing. Any advice is appreciated (:
These are the things that scare me the most, i have a male guinea pig that i rescued from my job (someone just left him at the door) and i want to get him another piggie do that he’s not alone, but i dont know his age or anything and it scares me that he wont get along with the future guinea pig, because i have space for a 2 by 4 grid, which is what he is in rn, if they dont get along I’ll obviously have to separate them, divide the space and they will end up in a 2 by 2 each which is basically nothing 😩😭
If you decide to give it a shot, your best bet is a very young baby boy! They usually don’t know dominance behavior when they’re that young and there’s a higher chance of the bond working
See if there is a rescue near you.. they will often let yo7 bring your pig in and try bonding with one or more there… or they let you bring one home and try bonding. If it doesn’t work out you can take it back.. and bring home another one.
If they don’t work you would need to already have a cage that’s also 2x4 for the other one. It isn’t fair to keep them in a 2x2 as that is wayyyy too small
It is very rare that mature male pigs can be bonded, sadly. I’m sorry it didn’t work out ☹️ Would you ever consider getting them neutered and bond them with a female group each? I know it can cost a lot, but then you don’t have to get two new piggies 😁 Also, from personal experience, having a neutered male pig in a big group of girls is literally the best thing ever! 🤩 I miss my neutered boy Harry, he really kept the girls in place 🥺
Yeah I also have noticed that usually males do better next to each other or with females. It’s pretty rare to see 2+ males together but I hope Jojo and Vision bond 🤞🏼
Very few males will go after babies.. that’s why they are used when bonding with an aggressive or super dominant males. But…. Once the babies grow an$ hit the super hormonal teenage age, then they may try to challenge the older male… so you may be forced to separate them…. It’s so much easier with females…
Hi everybody ! I'm about to castrate my two 7-month male piggies because they fight... And I could not keep them in two different cages because my appartment is too small... I'm so sad, and I don't know if it is the best solution, so please, if anybody here can give me some advice it would be so helpful 😭❤ thanks a lot 🌈
Even when it works bonding is very stressful. Maybe getting Jojo neutered and he can live with your sows.
I will try to do the bonding again with Jojo & Vision, but this time around making some adjustments to see if it makes things better. Currently, they are living side by side one another and hope it helps both of them open up ✨

Keep them in an enclosure that is split up in two and have one guinea pig live on each side of the enclosure. Let them be able to see and smell eachother. He actually did this for many weeks! It was on his insta!
This is so DETAILED AND INFORMATIVE!

Always make sure fresh stuff is put in the cage so no pigs smell is on anything.
That way no fights over who's cage it belongs to.
Should have had some hiding areas and large tunnel. Every place they move their being forced into a faceoff. And they should have been dropped in at same time. Maybe even starting off with a bonding bath. Nothing like the fear of death brings out feelings of connection.

Oh, so sorry it didn't go well. 😔 The important thing is that they are both safe and healthy.

I hear that Teddys are the sweetest to humans but the worst with other pigs. Scotty has a teddy named Gary and hes the swetest most handsome Teddy too just like Jojo but he literally never has found a match and you can guess how many opportunities he has had with Scotty.
Good to know! Thank you ✨
heyyyy! my Rex guinea pig has 3 babys 2 days ago. when can i start holding them?
As soon as they pop out
Where do you get the hay in the box & how much is it. Thank you
Denise
I’m bonding 2 male skinny pigs soon and I am SO scared! I feel like they are so fragile
Stay calm and piggies are not as fragile as you think.., usually it works better than this…
So sorry it didn't work out 😟 I had a pair of pigs (neutered male with a female) some years ago, and they thankfully bonded well together.
Can't wait!!
My two boys started off great but the next day they fought tooth and nail. 😓 Now any attempt in being together they tornado fight within seconds. I guess fences really do make good neighbors
awww, that happends sometimes. but they can be side by side bar buddies
I'm soooooo happy for them.
i'm so excited!!! one more min :)
Thank you for sharing. 🥺💙
Damm, your hair is so beautiful.
Vision seemed like he wanted to boss Jojo around and jojo was having none of it. Constantly shuffling to Jojo slightly sideways and challenging him for dominance- To bad it couldn't work out!
Your hair is perfect... 🤩
Yo Austin everything good probably bzy with ur sales 🤣 miss the Videos my dude take it ez🤙
Take their word for having a towel, I had to get two stitches because I didn’t have anything 💀💅(they got down to my tissue, right above the bone)
I have a lone guinea pig right now, and the sad thing is I don't think my parents would agree to neuter the pig, so the only option is to get a male. I hope the bonding will go well when we get around to getting a friend for him.
You should make a video packaging orders
Coming Soon!
Aww, u seem so upset! Don’t worry about it! 💕
They are sooooooo cute 🤗
My female pig tiana, she had ring worm from petsmart and I work there and I save her and took her to the vet and brought back to health and I was happy that she ok. Anyway I’m sorry the bonding didn’t go well but I hope u have a good day.
My two male guineas one is actually cool with the other one and is showing his dominance and and the other squeaks and runs away and screaches loud when Oreo tries to mount him for dominance so I’m sad 🥺 Oreo backs off and was grooming him they were fine till Oreo kept trying to mount him.
This is random but I love ur hair sm
I got a bubba for a flat mate for my older male and he became all fatherly with him. But he is a real sweetie and even though he's grown up now he lets the older male take the lead. But as you know there's no guarantee with individuals, animals or humans!
You look a lot like actor Tom Payne. So cool.
Hi I have a question! I’ve been wanting pigs for a while. Can you keep more than 3 in a larger enclosure or is it 3 max for any size
You can have a bigger group as long as there is enough space for them.
I let my father and son guinea pigs meet eachother for the first time not with bars between them and it went good they were not scared of eachother
Thank you for this video so informative and helpful 👏😊
This is totally normal as usual, my guinea pigs are still some mean biters !
Typically if pigs draw blood they shouldn’t continue living together :)
BTW this was a really helpful video!
Love your channel 👍
there so cute
hey! i have 2 Almost 1yr old piggies, i am maybe getting 3rd piggie for my Birthday next year,Pet store says putting a Baby piggie around 4 months old straight away in with 2 older piggies its fine they say, Should i believe that? should i Do bonding, and how?
Sorry it didn't work out. They'll be fine living side by side, but you can always try it again in a few months. You never know.
I want to try buddy bath but yeah bonding gp is so stressful and see my gps bleed can bleed my heart too:(
I do believe Austin is planning to give the bath a shot!! We’ve been chatting about it some and he was actually the one who recommended it to me
@@autumngrace. great!!! I would love to see how it is going with jojo and vision and i actually excited for ur buddy bath video so i can try to my boys guinea pig🤩
I love all of your videos 🤍 this looks so stressful tho.
Bonding will usually be stressful. It’s just how it is unfortunately.
@@ThatAnimalHouse yeah, ik, exactly
I love that you rescued vision from the pet store! I should have done the same....
We tried to bond other piggies whith my pig 8 time and it never worked.
Love that intro
Same it’s adorable
It is very rare that mature male pigs can be bonded, sadly. I’m sorry it didn’t work out ☹️ Would you ever consider getting them neutered and bond them with a female group each? I know it can cost a lot, but then you don’t have to get two new piggies 😁 Also, from personal experience, having a neutered male pig in a big group of girls is literally the best thing ever! 🤩 I miss my neutered boy Harry, he really kept the girls in place 🥺
Ha they won't get along 🤣 haha
❤
🥺 I am sorry.
I feel like sometimes boys are happier next to eachother vs together. Or neuter and add to girl herds.
Yeah I also have noticed that usually males do better next to each other or with females. It’s pretty rare to see 2+ males together but I hope Jojo and Vision bond 🤞🏼
❤😍
I have found that babies and pigs in the 2-4 range never seem to work. If JoJo got a friend his age, I think it would go better
Very few males will go after babies.. that’s why they are used when bonding with an aggressive or super dominant males. But…. Once the babies grow an$ hit the super hormonal teenage age, then they may try to challenge the older male… so you may be forced to separate them…. It’s so much easier with females…
I thought you had already agreed Jojo would go back to the previous owner if the bonding didn’t work. I guess you changed your mind there.
Sorry things did not work out. You really did a great job though.
I NEED HELP MY GUINEA PIG HATES MY NEW GUINEA PIG
16:03 hold on… Is he not single?
Hi everybody ! I'm about to castrate my two 7-month male piggies because they fight...
And I could not keep them in two different cages because my appartment is too small...
I'm so sad, and I don't know if it is the best solution, so please, if anybody here can give me some advice it would be so helpful 😭❤ thanks a lot 🌈
