Ubisoft Increases Rocksmith+ Price... But Adds Metallica and Deftones?

  • The Rocksmith+ price increase happened, but at the same time, Ubisoft has added things like Metallica, Green Day, Disturbed, Deftones, Oasis, and many more. There has also been a few quality of life improvements in riff repeater and overlay settings. Will this begin the downfall of Rocksmith plus? Or are we starting to see improvements again?

    Considering all the other prices gone up, the massive inflation over the past couple of years, etc., there's not really a surprise subscription services also go up, but I don't like the increase. Had my year sub renewed in December, so I have another 9 months to prepare for the next fee. The last 2 months have really payed off content wise, and I hope this signals the trend, though I hope they can do some obscure stuff and deep cuts in addition to all the bangers and hits. Still about 1300 official RS2014 DLCs not included in R+, and about 3/4 of the current 12k library are without authentic arrangements. Near daily there are new arrangements added, and the weekly drops are constantly adding value.
    As much as I dislike that it has become a subscription service, I also understand the arguments behind, and the fact that the monthly sub is less than what I spent on DLCs each month also sort of is a saver.

    Another great video, Dr. Chain.
    I would personally feel a lot better about $20/month if extended-range guitars/basses were added, along with a complete UI change. This UI is borderline impossible to navigate, and to top it all off. Paying for an over-priced subscription model, and then having to pay for a VPN. Just to get the most out of the game?!?!
    I really like the idea of RS+ and can see the huge potential it has. Ubisoft released a 1/4 baked game, and is charging AAAA price for it.

    I bit the bullet and subbed for a year before the price increase, I love some of the tracks that would not be possible to have in 2014 due the way english led material was 95% of the time the kind of stuff Ubi released, nor they have cdlc for. Does it mean that I would recommend it, maybe? If you're into metal maybe the latest few drops have been for your liking, but lets see what the rest of 2024 brings. If the accomplishment of licensing songs that people have wanted in a platform since 2011 doesn't resonate with you what does the existence of RS+ matter to you? Reason I am asking is because I started playing bass a year ago and pretty much just play using Rocksmith 2014 on my laptop and XBox.

      For the guitar lessons i find the exercises useful. Also the beginner course was nice and helpful and they had a practice song for each of the lessons. There are some scales practice tracks also. I tried the intermediate lessons and it seems they stopped caring. The video explanations aren't that good and there are no songs for the lessons, just some practice tracks that are way to hard for me. So if you are a beginner there is a nice course to try but that' s all. After that you are better off with youtube or whatever.

      @@nicogr2009 Wow! Thank you so much. I appreciate this. It sounds like the lessons might be a little better than the ones in RS2014 which goes along the lines of: the instructor mentions a couple things about the lesson, there's a practice track and that's it.

Like Destiny 2, this is for streamers, not for average people, we regular folks have to stick to the old tech of using books and videos from 2005, because F' You, pay me! So enjoy streamers, this game is for you and only you, we regular folks would have to stick to using old books and videos that are blurry as hell because of the year they came out on youtube.

    With how the music industry is, I understand why to go with the subscription model. But I'll be honest, I wish for there to also be a standalone product for a set number of songs/features from Rocksmith+ and either give updates or paid expansions for those wanting the RS2014 type of product so it's not a Sub or Nothing situation, especially since you can't get the original Rocksmith or 2014 anymore. Especially where some will want to learn keyboard/piano through Rocksmith without having to pay for a subscription when you're starting out.
    Otherwise, yeah, features that we want aren't there, which hurts when you see the nice things that're added to Rocksmith+. And for $20 USD/month, you're almost paying for a private one-on-one lesson. Yes, there are more than just us rock/metal guys for the Rocksmith audience, but it's disappointing when they do the work to bring 7/8/9-string guitar and 5/6-string bass songs into the catalog with the standard string arrangements feeling off compared to how you would play those songs on their respective instruments.
    When finances are as tight as it is, the $20 USD a month just isn't worth it to me

  • @cryptghoul
    @cryptghoul 5 месяцев назад

    i think the subscription degrades rs+ because were so used to CDLC.
    (like why pay for charts i already have), but people probably pay much more for guitar lessons each year, and thats limited lessons at that.
    rs+ is there whenever you feel like it, and has a bigger range of songs, instruments, and more compared to guitar lessons.
    im still not set on paying for rs+ because i do use rs2014 and its just a hobby(im also poor), but the features rs+ has would have made it 10x easier to begin learning guitar when i did.
    increasing the price was wack but comparing to alternative ways of learning guitar its not such a bad price for learning imo.

  • @CainAshenrov
    @CainAshenrov 5 месяцев назад

    I'm cautious about RS+. The big let down in my opinion is the region locks along with it being subscription based. Being subscription based, they could take away tracks and you'd never get to play them again until they get the rights again. With 2014 DLC, just like now, you get to play them after they are delisted and are still available for download if anything happens to your hard drive. I want to be optimistic about RS+, but right now I can't be. Maybe one day though, but until then, I will remain cautious about it and keep an eye on it.

  • @katycatjulius
    @katycatjulius 5 месяцев назад

    They should be careful to not have the subscription price so high no one is willing to pay anymore, the price should be a balance of being able to afford big artists while keeping the price as low as possible. If they add even more instruments to learn (like they already did with piano) then what they could do is ask a subscription per instrument, this way they don't have to increase the price just because a new instrument is added which should make it more affordable than just increasing the price cause new instrument.
    With rocksmith+ being a subscription service and the price increasing i wonder why people either keep using what they already own or if they don't own and it's not available to own anymore pirate it

    I think the menu is a bigger turn off for me than anything else in the game at the moment. Hot take I know. The reason that is, is because I'm open minded. I've played every single song in RS2014 (500+ base game DLC, and over 2000 CDLC) and found tracks and bands I love through that. The same could happen with RS+, but I can't do that with how the menu is laid out. I don't know what songs I've played or missed. I want the RS2014 layout for at least the menu (Not to mention note highway) and then I may consider this worth my investment. But as it's trying to get new players, i think it needs to appeal more to them. With like the games and such. Like imagine a Roguelike where you have to play your best scales to min-max. Something crazy like that. And of course tracks players want to learn. Add some Periphery or dog forbid, Animals As Leaders somehow (Octave pedal exists) for advanced players. At the moment it feels like nobody is being heard despite these great additions recently.

    I hate subscription services but what was more of deal killer for me is that there were very few songs I liked, and you had to sort through an endless sea of bullshit songs to find them. The price hike and awful user interface didn't help. I also thought that the note detection was not as good as 2014. I may consider resubbing if they did an rsmods type setup with the 7 string. As of right now, on PC I see no reason to spend that type of cash when 2014 with rsmods and cdlc is substantially better than +.

    The DLC cost argument is also trash, because if I buy the Metallica DLC for 60 USD I know I will have it forever, if I subscribe to this piece of shit BECAUSE of the metallica songs I might still lose them, so I might be paying for month and month closing in on the 60 USD total price for the DLCs but they suddenly remove it and I'm fucked, music and guitar playing is not like fucking netflix at least definitely not for me, I dont just look at a song and say "oh lets try this"

      The argument is not trash, you just dont agree with it. Having access to the whole catalog for a sub is a powerful thing for those who like to find new stuff. Definitely not for you though if you admit to not ever wanting to try anything new lmao

      @@Chainbrain I see you took the "DLC argument is trash" as a dig at you, was never meant like that, it was poorly phrased, but I stand by what I said, everywhere I look the direction is you do not own anything, you pay monthly and just hope the service will be good enough so it's worth it for you, I do not think this is a good direction, also tell me if I'm wrong but I highly doubt people explore new music through Rocksmith, you do that by listening to music full stop and then you might want to learn the new cool song you have found, I cant imagine anyone would likely want to pay more than 5% of the current library of songs and the fact that nothing can stop them from removing stuff randomly just as they can add random stuff is I think extremely bad for something that is a tool for learning and practice for most people, you PLAY rocksmith, it is mostly a game for you I feel, also your livelyhood at least to some extent, as you said in the video your take will be wildly different from the average Joe's

    When you buy the Metallica DLC, you can play it all the time without paying more, unless there's a way to keep those songs without being subscribed.

    For the price of a fast food meal, per month, I can play/learn a ton of music on guitar, bass and piano and continue to support the companies efforts to keep adding more. It's not a tough decision... What Rocksmith 2014, a dead product, did before is meaningless.

    I can play every Metallica song ever made for free on rocksmith 2014. I genuinely don't see why people would purchase the rocksmith plus. What is the benefit?

      This exactly. I have a lot invested in Rocksmith 2014 on the Xbox and PC. The only thing that would get me to subscribe would be if they get the licensing for Metallica in North America and obviously they need to beef up their catalog with other artists too.

    "If you look at it, just the Metallica DLC would be like $60" yes... But I would OWN it. I can buy those songs, not give Ubisoft another cent, come back in 5 (10 or however many) years when they've shutdown the RS+ servers and guess what? I can STILL play those songs, basing the value on "yer but you get so many songs for your money" is a false argument. Sure, right now, yes you do have more songs/better value for money. But long term? You've actually got nothing and they can take it away at ANY second.

    • @Chainbrain

      It's not a false argument, it's just one you don't agree with. Which is fine.
