The point of the first section (the simple chromatics exercise at 1:57) is for you to play each finger separately and only remove them when you need them for the next string (it's known as the spider walk exercise, fundamental for developing proper technique and increasing finger independence), try moving your thumb up and down around the back of the neck as it gives you easier fret access (fundamental when learning things like sweep picking). In any case great content, don't give up... Also try to position the guitar in a classical stance (45 degree angle), and learn how to palm mute
5:09 as long as you get power chords down, you’ll start to realize that song isn’t as intimidating as it seems. It’s just power chords and then chugging on the low E palm muted. Twinkle Twinkle little star was actually harder than that, but I’m guessing you’re much more used to acoustic playing. Good job either way!

this is a pretty good and realistic review. i think a lot of people are so stuck on the 2014. but a lot of us don't get to have that option anymore and its unfair to make all the new players bummed over it.
@EliseEcklund is that telegram channel yours? I got replied by telegram that has your name and asked me i want to have a conversation with you with heart emoji
I think you may have forgotten that you have more than one finger on your fretting hand during that warm up exercise. Just for you & anyone else trying to do this, you're meant to do it with all four of your fingers. One finger per fret. 1st finger on 1st fret, 2nd finger on 2nd, and so on. Fun video. I've never messed with Rocksmith before so it was cool to it in action, and how it works. Thanks.

Hey Elise, just a heads up, when you next restring that guitar, turn the tuning pegs the other way (so the strings turn counter-clockwise instead), right now your strings are wrapping around the posts in the wrong direction (clockwise), ideally the strings should be going straight through the nut at the top of the fret boar, not veering off at an angle like you have it right now. Turning the pegs the other way will help keep the guitar in tune better
Nice catch. It could also damage the string slot in the nut if one of the strings pop out from the tension of the angle, possibly chipping the slot. Then the nut would have to be replaced.
I play three years alone and most of metal songs I know them from start to finish and it took me one day in 2 hour practice per day or week it depends if I have enough free space for activities and I just nailed them with rhythm and melody as the key to play without slowing down
Ooooh God, I loved every second of the video 😍 Basically Elise I've been your fan since I bought my ukulele and your videos helped me A LOT to learn how to play my fav songs! But literally yesterday, after realizing that I love ukulele, but I still miss sth in my life, I though: I'd like to learn to play the electric guitar as I love its sound so much. And today I entered YT and saw this video of you, playing the electric guitar. It's like the universe telling me to buy the electric guitar 😁😁😁 Thank you so much for the video and looking forward to the new ones! And happy xmas by the way 🤗🎄
The problem that I have with Rocksmith and other guitar learning apps is that they only teach you a small portion of the song instead of the actual chords/melody. It just tries to make you feel like you are doing a good job while if you turned off the backing song you would just be playing seemingly random notes.
If you keep at it untill you are nearing mastering the song, it should have all the correct notes in there. At that point you can turn off the backing track or play it with a backing track of your own. Before that, yes, it's random notes untill it has leveled up a few times.. When you get better, I'd normally suggest to start somewhere halfway in the mastery to skip the random bits and actually start with some chords or decent sounding licks. Good luck and enjoy!
I had the same issue with the adaptive difficulty. Also, when leveling up from lower difficulties, I felt I had to relearn the part too much if my finger position wasn't optimal. now when I learn a new song, I prefer going into the Riff Repeater and cranking the difficulty to 100% (should be the full guitar part arrangement) and turning down the speed until I got the part. Plus, that made it more fun for me because leveling up the intended way was too tedious for me.
I've been trying to learn to play guitar for ages, now, and I feel like this is the level I'm at, every time I've skipped a week or 2 of playing 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ I was progressing pretty quickly at one point, when I was playing guitar at least twice a day (morning and evening) so just keep at it and find ways to keep it interesting
I had rocksmith on 360. It was fun and I got decent but looked at from a gamer, not a musician so the actual music knowledge I never grasped. I wish I would have done bass with it. I'm learning bass now with an instructor and practice. I'm miles above we're I was with rocksmith and having more fun with bass

OMG. No wonder I have been struggling. I have been trying one at a time. Imma try this next time.
I'm glad you started making longer long videos again

Yes, I agree. I can play no problem first song but not second.
I did not expect to see Elise play Sepultura in this video. Hope to see more metal content. Great video.
Same here
1:39 she smiled 😮 it’s beautiful 🤩
Brother she always knew how to smile 🤷🏻♀️
Unrelated note, but you have inspired me to pick up the otomatone. Thank you for being such an inspiration elise

I practiced guitar for 5 years now.
I finally managed to play The Em-Chord. Now i need to learn to don't cramp my toes while practicing

Yes, in Rocksmith there are usually 4 frets highlighted. That's where it suggests your hand to be with the four fingers.
you did amazing especially if you haven’t practiced in 5 years
Thanks!

Ok maybe that's alot of exaggeration.
no, that's Jimi Hendrix

I just started learning guitar and it is quite challenging when you first start out. But I plan to stick with it!
Its hard to believe that its been 5 years since you played but I'm happy because of how brave and good you were with the guitar
Wow! U got the rhythm😂 Awsome video as always.
Merry Christmas to you and Yours
You have such long elegant fingers for guitar playing, this should be easy for you. 😆
If Rock smith had tabs I believe they’d be the number one source for learning guitar.

@xfinktion this is how I do it , 100% of notes slowed down and then up to speed
Elise can make even a sponsorship the funniest thing I've ever heared
I got the same guitar that you are using at 4:00 but it really hurts my leg bc of that spike. Do you have a advice on how it doesnt hurt so much?
Try repositioning the guitar so the curve just goes over your leg? Or put something soft in between
You're amazing Elise!
