The British version of the show really hits differently especially if you worked in a restaurant before. There is this dilemma between sadness and hope that chefs get every day: "Hey maybe it's the summer menu, in 2 weeks we are changing the menu and it will be great again, people dine out more in the winter anyway?" and the winter comes and nobody comes again after all the effort and hope went into the new menu, then the crazy calculations start "what is not working? is it the front house? are the waiters worse than the other guys we had before? are we wasting too many ingredients? is the seating area not inviting?" they struggle to create the same magic of the first year of the restaurant when they used to get critics, magazine articles talking about them. it is an honest interpretation of the kitchen environment. The reality is that they just needed to venture off maybe, look it from a business perspective instead of having this emotional tie with the place. The US version is just crazy, it is hard to believe any of those restaurants ran that way for real.

Kitchens failing is no big shocker to people in the industry, when I did my apprenticeship one of the first things my instructor told me was that 60% of kitchens fail in the first year of service and then 80% of those that do survive will fail in the next 5 years. Hospitality is a brutal industry full off people who don't want to cultivate a healthy kitchen because even if you do, it's very rarely very profitable, if it even is profitable at all.
I'm not shocked that most of those kitchens fail, the fact that Gordon can even revitalise them for a few months is quite impressive, especially when he's dealing with the kind of upper management who let their business get to that point in the first place.
Anyway, love the channel mate, shocked you've got such a low subscriber count with such well made videos.

I know this is an old video BUT: Bad seafood can cause food poisoning within an hour (pretty much the quickest food poisoning that's caused by contaminated food can kick in), and it's said that if you eat bad shellfish it can cause you to become allergic to it. Being allergic to shellfish when you're a chef is probably....not great. It can also tastes like ammonia, which Gordon can probably pick up on. A quick throw up could lessen the health issues caused by it.
The salt thing is odd. Like, a natural reation would be getting water. Even licking a himilayan salt lamp probably wouldn't cause someone to go straight to throwing up. The lady saw her moment for drama, and took it by the nuts.

My favourite quote is from Tilly and the Ramsay Bunch, a TV show his youngest daughter Matilda made.
Gordon does a fake interview and asks her "what's it like having the world's best chef as a dad?"
There's a slight pause and then she says...
"But Jamie Oliver isn't my dad"

Where have you been all my life? I've been rewatching the same old videos on RUclips for MONTHS. Finally some good fucking entertainment.
Also THANK YOU for pointing out the mouse bs. Feels like nobody doubted our Lord and Savior Gordon Ramsay, even though it makes absolutely zero sense for a mouse to just diein front of a door that far away from the kitchen. Might as well have acted it out on camera, that lil bugger.

Never thought I'd be watching a video about Kitchen Nightmares and hear the Cannibal Holocaust theme 😂
    Great video!

Ive read some commentaries on this show by people who were in the restaurants, they were sometimes not allowed to throw food away or clean up before Ramsay arrived.

I agree. Gordon Ramsay is the only person in this world who is equal parts massive knobhead and national treasure. I hate him but I'm also a massive fan! 🥂
