It's true, too, especially in a dice game like 40K. While you can play the averages and take safe bets, you have literally no control over how many dice come up 1. You can make the safest, most reasonable move ever and just get a whole stack of 1s and possibly lose the game because you made the right call. It's not often, but it's something to be aware of.

I don't understand the hate for splitting fire sometimes. Yes it's not always the best idea (especially if you're Tau) but what was Nick supposed to do, shoot his bolters into a Land Raider? And not into some Intercessors?? I think it's a totally reasonable thing to do with big tanks full of guns of varying strengths
Splitfire is a bit of a channel meme cuz especially nick has a tendency to end up leaving enemies with 1 wound remaining after splitting fire
@@thomy1516 And then Nick can't kill that unit for the life of him. (which has led to some losses)
Rather, splitting into the Landraider might be what the issue was. If he had focused it all on the Intercessors, even if overkill, at least they would be gone.
Well, if you're attacking something, you need it dead. You're just not maximising your chances of killing it. And as someone who rolls notoriously badly, I can't split fire or I never kill anything.
Splitting fire is great for Tau always use the right weapon for the right target.

Thats why I love this game. Even if you aren't doing much damage. If you can get ahead on VP and make it to the end of round 5 you can still win.
@klgw99 well, unless you have really bad luck. I made 2 saves my last game. Was shot off the board turn 3. Had an enemy skitarii squad wipe my 10 man intercessor squad in cover with armour of contempt (so all up +2 to my AS) and a 6 up fnp. I missed all saves and fnps.

I recently played a game in a duos tournament against a guy who had 20 rough riders but kit bashed them to be riding dinosaurs. It was epic
Really liked the phased deployment of this game, have seen it used elsewhere and always struck as a sensible way to avoid total alpha strikes in leiu of alternating activations.

After that terrible DA turn 4, I counted all the DA rolls and averaged them... Statistical dice will roll an average of 3.5. DA rolled an average of 2.96.Thats outside the 97% confidence interval, which with the number of roles this game was + - 0.21. Taking that into account, there was a less than 0.001% chance of you rolling that bad. Conclusion, your dice are badly weighted.

@artemeremin I just manually wrote a tally for all the dice, then fed it into Excel and did a standard distribution

The amount of 1's I saw this game was unreal.
Feel like that was the most whiffing I've seen in a 40k in 40m in some time. Felt both armies were staring each other down rather than shooting each other up. Superb sportsmanship all round though!

I do agree that sometimes, there is nothing wrong with split firing. But with the way the board was on turn three, Nick shouldnt have split fired so much. If he could have focused enough onto weaker units, he then couldve switched to other units after he wiped out the ones he needed to take out first.
Looks like David tank machine spirit was not so please with him yet the dice tell story.

I think it would be cool if you did a "tutorial battle" where you do a match in the 40k in 40 minutes but you explain everything you do so it's easier for inexperienced players to keep up and learn.
We do have a How-to-play video and we do play a demo game in there ruclips.net/video/NFnTkjk025E/видео.html . Some of our games can be a bit slower with more explanation but it is tough to do to get all that explanation from what is a typical 3 hour game into 40 minutes.

Honestly, guys, after so many years of watching You play, I begin to have creeping doubts about some of You simply being able to learn from mistakes.
I mean, it cannot be statistically possible for JT and Tycho to be winning so often while Nick, SMSteve and Mubin lose almost every time.
The latter lose regularly with their best known army while Tak gets to play very different - often new - armies and manages to win often.
I play some punishing fantasy card games (Arkham Horror LCG) and I always note down what worked and what didn't. You can't help but never make the same mistake again if You do that.
I'm just getting into war hammer and since i hate sci-fi, I find the Imperial guard/ astra militarum very interesting since its a middle finger to all of the demons, gods, aliens, orks, and spartans. But damn bro, every video i look up on this channel with the Guards this man is playing them and he literally lose 9/10 videos.
I looked him up in a video thinking "Ah they must make him play things he don't know to so the video isn't the same thing all the time" and the man still loses every match. Honestly thank god. I was worried the army I liked just sucked or something

Why does JT call the Death Riders of Krieg "Attilan Rough Riders"? When I search for Attilan Rough Riders, they look entirely different from them.

How'd Nick shoot into combat with his flamer? Did the infantry fall back? If they did, how'd he use grenades due to falling back not being eligible to shoot? Anybody able to help clarify for me? (~20:00)
For the grenades strat, you do not need to be eligible to shoot, you just use it on a unit before they shoot, since the infantry that fell back didn’t shoot, they can use grenades. Even if they fell back, and can’t shoot they can still use grenades. The exact wording is “… has not been selected to shoot this phase.”
kind of new at the game. Can characters attack with two melee weapons or must they chose which to use each time?
Typically you can only attack with one close combat weapon unless the other weapons have the "extra attacks" special rule. In which case you attack with the close combat weapon equipped and then move onto the extra attacks weapons

I don't understand how they gain a cp for tossing a secondary, vox static makes it seem like new orders stratagem COSTS cp to do.
You can get rid of a stratagem at the end of your turn and gain a CP for it.
New Orders is during your command phase, so at the beginning of your turn.

So the only thing that (is stupid af btw) those arent actually deathwing terminators. Because of the way their datasheet is written, the deathwing terminator sergeant has to have a power weapon and cant run a power fist unlike a regular terminator squad where the sergeant can have either. I love dark angels but god these datasheets make me so sad.
