Alexa, I was taught Swiss French and I've noticed that it's easier to understand your French because you speak each word clearly. I was taught to speak French by my foster parents starting at age 3 or 4, I was not adopted by them hence the Spanish name ( I don't speak Spanish). I've also noticed that I can read your writing. Reading French has always been easier for me. I do understand the words but nobody in my city speaks French but I still remember how to read and understand it and even speak it and I'm 60. You are the first French speaker on RUclips I understand. I was put in a French class in high school but I didn't understand the teacher, she was Cuban and was married to a Canadian husband. That teacher called my foster mother and told her I didn't want to learn but I kept telling the teacher that I didn't understand her because it was a different French than the one I was taught at home. I'll continue learning here on RUclips with you because you make it easy and yes, I do speak fluent English. Thank You, Merci Madam Alexa
Bonjour Alexa, I found you through my French teacher, who always lists your RUclips channel as a resource, and she herself watched your videos while she was learning French in college. I am so thankful that you make these videos, and they go right on topic with what we are learning in class. You teach in an easy and fun way, merci!
Better Idea, memorize french nouns with indefinite articles because definite articles in French can contract and you won't be able to distinguish them.

Hi Alexa. Thank you . I think that I should revise this lesson and write it down but the question is : if I say a feminine word as musculine and vice versa do I look strange or funny? Do I get understood? Because it's so hard to distinguish.
My very good friend and working colleague is french and is learning german and I am german and I am learning french. We have so often funny talks e.g. Whaaat the cat is male in french and female in german, the apple is female in french but male in german xD
Hi Alexa, obviously you are an expert in your language and knowing genders of each word surely comes naturally but am dying to know, as a native speaker like yourself...have you stumbled upon words which yourself confused of their genders OR have you ever committed errors in both speaking and writing regard to gender of French words?
Le destin? There's a French-Canadian folk song that goes: " Mon pere aussi ma mere n'avaient que moi d'enfant./ n'avaient que moi d'enfant, LA DESTINEE, la rose au bois." Is this one of those words that swap genders on opposite sides of the Atlantic? Or does this mean something entirely different? My dictionary is not handy at the moment.
Hi guys,I have a question. If I want to say ''for the rest of your life'' in French,do I have to use future tense? For example in the sentence ''où vous pouvez/pourrez vivre pour le reste de votre vie?'' which one is true, pouvez or pourrez?
I wonder how important it is to get masc/fem right. If there are not 2 words with different meanings (i.e. un hiver and une hiver) then there is no risk of being misunderstood, only sounding a bit rubbish. So my strategy is to use the correct gender if I know it, but otherwise just have guess and keep talking - the listener will indicate if there is some confusion. I think the traditional focus on getting this 100% right puts English speakers off trying to learn and use French.
Good luck with learning French, terrible language. As a result, we are so happy when someone tries to speak our langague that we shout "your French is so good !!" at every broken sentence 👏
Bonjour Alexa , I have a question. Why does it happen that sometimes the word ending with E get masculine, as always a word ending with E is feminine. Few times i get confused in this so that make my answer wrong. Merci REGARDS Aadhya
The literal translation for a. is “She is pretty as a heart”, and I believe its equivalent in english is “She is pretty as a picture”. It’s when you find the person beautiful. And the second one means “to be put upon”, it’s when someone takes advantage of somebody else, literally “he is walking on someone’s feet”. For example, I could say “Ne te laisse pas marcher sur les pieds” to my friend which means that they shouldn’t let people walk all over them. Hope you understand ^ - ^

8:01 why it's 'le hasard' and not 'l'hasard' ?
Because of a mysterious rule: www.francaisfacile.com/exercices/exercice-francais-2/exercice-francais-61194.php
Good question
Parce que le français - comme tous langage - possède un caractère arbitraire.
Souvent dans le langage parlé populaire, on dit : l'hasard fait bien les choses"...
Aussi pour le hareng, on dit " le hareng" et non "l'hareng"; ou encore : "le haricot" et non l'haricot.
Because it is not a silent 'h', some h in words like l'hopital, are silient while others are not
@@madhumithavenkatesan9051 But it's a silent "h"... The pronunciation of "hasard" is "azar" (asar).
