It's funny that I'm paying University to learn French but I don't understand my teacher, so I have to find Alexas videos to understand my class. Thank you Alexa for making this videos! Merci!!
Really, I'm stunned at how clear Alexa's lessons are. Some of us have spent years trying to get these grammar lessons straight. It's taught me "it's not me, it's them" (the teachers). Kudos Alexa.
I've asked many french speaking ppl over the years to explain the meaning of y and en and how they are used and nobody could ever explain it. Thanks a million!!! This was an excellent and important teaching for anyone trying to learn french.
Now, this class makes a lot of sense. Thank you Alexa for making life in learning French much more easier. I completed your basic French lessons from 1 - 55 chapters. And now I understand the importance of those lessons. It gives me a strong base to explore more into French learning. I used wonder and got confused à lot of times when I saw 'y' and 'en' in a lot of sentences. After this lesson, I understood why those characters appeared. That makes sense.
At 2:40 into this video, Alexa demonstrated use of "y" in the responding sentence "Ils y habitent depuis 1 an." But I think the technically correct response would be "Ils y habitaient depuis 1 an", using the imperfect (imparfait) tense. However, using the present tense "habitent" keeps it simpler for beginners.
I have wanted to learn French for a long time but courses are expensive and time consuming. Thank you so much for these classes. Very simple and I’m on my way!
Alexa, you didn't cover examples where "en" means "from it" or "away." For example, s'en aller means to go away. My way of remembering "y" and "en" is that "y" usually means, literally and awkwardly, "to it" or "towards it," or, more simply, "there." "En" means "of it/them" or "from it/them" (English translation varies). Of course, English often uses simple pronouns such as "it" or "them." This lesson helped clarify the partitive usage of "en." The partitive has various translations in English, usually "some" of something.
I didn't understand the example- Non, je ne m'y intrésse pas. In this why didi you use m in here why didn't you put y after je. 😥 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ Pls explain I'd be very thankful to you Alexa. And your videos are very nice. Thank you.
Bonjour Alexa, as you said "je ne m'y intéresse pas" to say I am not interested in it and if i want to say that "I am interested in it" then do i have to say " Je m'y intéresse" or "J'y m'intéresse" ?? MILLE MILLE MERCI D'AVANCE ALEXA
First off, articles like le, la and les replace objects so "elle les mange" means "she eats them" I'm not sure what "elle en mange" is unless you are trying to say "she eats it" in that case don't use en, use le there is the phrase "être en train de manger" "to be in the process of eating" a more simple version "elle est en train de manger" "she is (in the process of) eating"
Hello Alexa, please could someone help me understand when to use Reflective pronouns me, te, se, because it's not used in; Tu penses à ton avenir but it's used in; Tu t'intéresses à la musique

Três cool cette cours. J'ai adoré
Merci pour la lecon Alexa.
Merci!!
Very informative, thanks! When would you say "Elle en mange" and "Elle les mange"? Is there a difference?
First off, articles like le, la and les replace objects so "elle les mange" means "she eats them"
I'm not sure what "elle en mange" is unless you are trying to say "she eats it" in that case don't use en, use le there is the phrase "être en train de manger" "to be in the process of eating" a more simple version "elle est en train de manger" "she is (in the process of) eating"
In the last question ...elle parle du film ? ...instead of ' en' can we use COD/COI ?
Thank you so much Alexa! But even with your explanations I feel it hard to utilize "en parlant Francè avec quelque un."
Absolutely, it is a very hard concept so don't worry too much about it , just be aware that it exists. :)
Merci beaucoup Alexa,je t'aime
Nice thx a lot
