Assassin's Creed Valhalla: PS5 vs Xbox Series X/ Series S Next-Gen Comparison!

- Possibly the most eagerly anticipated of platform comparisons - and the results are perhaps not what users might have been expecting. Assassin's Creed transitions to 60fps for Series X and PS5, but the challenges in delivering full frame-rate are clearly considerable. Meanwhile, Series S is pegged to 30fps...

As you can see, there are areas that the PS5 has advantage, its just that these areas are usually dismissed because none of the companies really talks about them since it's easier to market "TF"s. But TFs are just one part of a render pipeline as you can see above. And everything you can do faster along that pipeline, means you finish the specific task faster.
There is also the fact that having a higher clocked GPU means that the PS5's GPU caches are faster. That potentially increases effective memory bandwidth.
And i have only listed all the on-paper stuff, and not any of the custom stuff like the IO complexion of the PS5 or the tempest engine. All things thar handle tasks that are otherwise done by CPU freeing up CPU cycle on the PS5. Most people dismiss stuff like this because they dont understand them. I agree completely. Cerny is a legend.
Mark Cerny was also the lead architect for PS Vita which in terms of hardware is amazing.
Yep and people don't realise that the audio and decompression from the SSD are offloaded from the CPU and GPU hence the PS5 may be a 2 terflop less (no that it means a lot in the real world) but when more resources are freed up then well, is it really slightly less powerful? ;)
Now this is interesting. I was expecting a slight disadvantage for the PS5, given it's lower CU count. It'll be interesting to see if this is something to do with Assassin's Creed or if it applies to cross gen games in general.
I think the closer both consoles are to each other in terms of performance, the better. I'd rather make my pick based on the games catalogue than technical superiority.

trying to explain that to xbox people was impossible as all they could see was 12 is a bigger number than 10. I said it over and over that you won’t see the difference graphically and i was correct!
All Xbox is, is buzzwords. Shitty console.
i thought people were over hyping mark cerny but they were probably right. he is a legend in the industry and has been around for decades. sony must be glad to have him. even the ps4 is doing crazy things like running games like ghost of tsushima. it really does feel like theres some invisible magic shit in the console sometimes. i think we're going to see some amazing stuff on ps5.
That logic is irrelevant when it comes to comparing these consoles. Yes, TF is not the only benchmark, but new features (like RDNA 2) that motivate Cerny's logic are available in both consoles. In fact, as I understand it, PS5 doesn't even have full RDNA 2 but that's beside the point. If a 10 TF PS5 machine would be equal to a 12 TF PS4 machine, then the same logic applies to Xbox, if not more so.
What we're seeing here has absolutely nothing to do with the PS5 being more powerful or more capable of hitting high resolutions at higher framerates. If I were to guess, I'd say that the PS5 (based on what we've heard) is easier to develop for from generation to generation. So a cross-gen game that was designed for previous gen consoles likely doesn't even make use of the new features these consoles provide & since Xbox One code (supposedly) doesn't translate as well to Series X code like PS4 code translates to PS5 code, we see a visible difference in performance.
This is not MS' doing. This is not the Series X being incompetent. And it is absolutely *NOT* the PS5 being "more powerful". This is a clear case of bad optimization & lack of understanding of new hardware. I mean, AC Unity literally ran at the same resolution on Xbox One & PS4, yet for some odd reason the One had better performance. Did that mean TF "didn't matter & it's dangerous to rely on it as an absolute indicator of performance", or worse, that the PS4 was less powerful? Absolutely not. It's the exact same thing.
Seriously, we're seeing the exact same thing happen to the loading speeds on these consoles. Most games, especially BC games, load *significantly* faster on the Series consoles, even though PS5's SSD is over two times as fast on paper. Why is nobody saying "it is dangerous to rely on GB/s as an absolute indicator of performance"? Clearly the CPU matters too but no one is saying anything about that. In fact they're all saying "iT's NoT oPtImIzEd YeT fOr PS5" even though none of these games were optimized for Series X neither. Does anyone truly expect that the Series X will continue to outperform the PS5 in speed later down the line? No. Once devs make use of those compression methods, I think we all know PS5 will be faster.
This is the same when it comes to performance. There's absolutely no doubt that the Series X is substantially more powerful than the PS5 in pretty much every single way (GPU, CPU, RAM). Sony's marketing excuses (that may technically be correct) that he was CLEARLY just saying b/c Xbox beat them with more powerful hardware is not going to change that.
I do not care that one console is more or less powerful than the other, but I do care that people are being honest about it & don't take marketing quotes completely out of context.

PS5 gonna crush SeXbox in Cyberpunk, I bet all the delays are because of Microsoft and their idiotic idea to release x4 weaker next gen console.
@@BITCOIlN The series X would do really great running Cyberpunk just as PS5 will. It's not a weak console at all.
Cyberpunk will run with on bc mode based on PS4 Pro and the One X. If things go accordingly to the pattern, PS5 will run it at a checkboarded 1440p (because of the PS4 Pro) and the One X can be the same or higher. We have to wait the next-patches next year to truly compare the XSX and PS5.
If the series X is already performing worse in multi platform games compared with the PS5, I can imagine how the situation will be for the series S for future games. I don't know how Microsoft got to decide to launch the series S, this console will cause a lot of problems for Xbox.
they should ditch the series s and make a series x digital edition.
