Yngwie Malsteen's early records were so sonically groundbreaking... they don't get enough attention or credit. This came out in 1985 from the 2nd album 'Marching out'... the guitar playing was out-of-this-world... the vocals were incredible... the double bass drumming... It was like Deep Purple ramped up a few notches.

Yngwie is such a polarizing "love him or hate him" guitarist. Some people say he's nothing but speed, and doesn't play with any soul. Others say his talent speaks for itself and he doesn't have to prove anything to anybody.

@@pastorofmuppets22 - he has written many hit songs. Rising Force, I'll See the Light Tonight, Dreaming, I Am a Viking, Heaven Tonight etc... Yngwie got a lot of airplay on the radio and MTV in the 1980's. In my opinion I don't think Yngwie gets enough credit for all his great albums and songs. Even if people don't like his last few albums he still has an impressive catalog of amazing songs and albums over the years. He has an incredible body of work. He's the only "shredder" that actually writes good songs, and his vibrato and bending is second to none.

No one rips the guts.out of a guitar like Yngwie. I saw him only once live 25 years ago, and I can tell you that what your hearing is real. The man plays so fast if you BLINK you've missed it. He's studied classical music since childhood, and learned to play it on guitar. He's actually played classical on guitar with symphonies. He's been overlooked in the rock world while others received accolades, but no one can play a guitar like he can. Another guitarist of this level is Michael Angelo Batio.

Oh and I seen him live one time opening up for Triumph. It was a good show but, the spotlight stayed on Yngwie the whole time. I thought, what a narcissistic asshole. Then Rik Emmett came out and showed how much better of a guitarist he actually was and a modest one too.

The man had technical skills but no concept of melody or songwriting. When I was a metalhead teen we all knew him as the Malmsturbator.

There’s another reaction channel that compares guitar playing to video games and calls Yngwie the final boss.

Great guitar, not so much for the vocals. Yngwie's best album, for me, was his first one Rising Force.

If you're going to listen to Yngwie Malmsteen, should listen to Toni Macalpine same genre. but not as dark.

Everyone always reacts to Malmsteen 1st album. His next 3 albums are way better imo. Marching Out , Trilogy, and Odyssey. so good.
