Best guitar performance ever and to switch from an acoustic guitar to an electric guitar that quick is amazing. Always love this performance one of his best next to him playing with the Japanese philharmonic orchestra. Great to see your three reactions to this and would love to see more reactions to his stuff.
Said he got that from hearing a Van Halen album. He appreciated not the guitar but how the band recorded their vinyls as if they were a live performance.
The muscle memory in Yngwie's left hand is BEYOND Staggering!... Saw him live on his very first official solo tour of America in early 1984. It was the second date on the tour, so he was fresh. Talas with Billy Sheehan, a badass bassist in his own right, and also the Wild Dogs were the openers. He took off his guitar several times during the show and threw it straight up in the air 30 feet above him and he caught it every time! Then, in a counter clockwise motion, He'd spin the guitar around him and it would come back to him perfectly. He's a HELL of showman, and in 1984 he was only 21years old at the time doing this shit!! His favorite musician is Johann Sebastian Bach...
His ego is about 94% earned imo lol so i think all of us as guitarists (and I an intermediate beginner of 24 years who just noodles with incredible mediocrity) give him some leeway in that aspect, 6% is fine hahaha.
He rocks a Fender Guitar with a scalloped Fret board. Last year I bought my old friend a guitar like that. It's cool but a challenge to play. You need a light touch.
Yngvie is amazing with a style all his own. Irrelevant yet true story…a long time ago I was delivering pizza in North Miami (Shout out to Steve’s Pizza!) and I took a delivery to a house where, when the door was opened there were about 10 guitars on stands all around the place and 2 absolutely stunning women. A man answered the door wearing a robe with long flowing hair…turns out it was Yngvie Malmsteen in all of his rock star glory. I didn’t know who he was at the time but I remember the other driver being PISSED he missed that delivery.
I saw Yngwie and Dio live in concert back in 1990. The way they ripped the ticket I cannot give you much more information. All I know is that it was Dio and Yngwie, in Cleveland, and in 1990. It was a good show though. I believe I took my younger brother since he was the one that introduced me to Ying-Yang (that's what we called him, Sorry, Yngwie) He did have a singer at one point.
Ya'll need to check out AL di Meola for more guitar work and Stanley Clarke for some blasting bass guitar that will blow you away also look up Herbie Hancock.... you will get a kick out of it.

Malmsteens voice is notoriously bad. Trust me, you don't to hear him sing. His best songs are always vocalised by professional singers. But he is unmatched on a Fender
I had few of Yngwie's albums back in the day. 'Trilogy' and 'Rising Force' are Absolutely Phenomenal

Ha ha! Yngwie! Great technical player. His ego can be a little much to tolerate. But, few can even touch his level of playing.

Yngwie is another superb guitar god.
He was 19 or 20 when he started touring the US doing this crazy guitar work. He invented this style of classical music to metal. ❤
