Random guy??!? He's made 22 frickin' studio albums in four decades for crying out loud!
pure ecstasy ! ! !
Look for his song You don't remember , I'll never forget
Hellmann's/Best Foods
Why does Yngwie look like Garfield
"Ing-vay" is considered one of the greatest metal/neo-classical guitarists ever. He's heavily inspired by classical greats such as Bach and Paganini.
Ing vay is also regarded as one of the most overrated smeller of his own farts.
@lordscythe100 no sir I, like "ing-vay", am a smeller of my own farts. We recognize our own
He is the guitar version of Mozart. He will go down as one of the greatest but Petrucci from Dream theater has a strong case against that
He's one of the top players on the planet
You forgot Ritchie Blackmore.
It's amazing that someone in 2023 has never heard of Yngwie Malmsteen. I've been listening since the 80s.
Yes, I agree. I have always heard of Yngwie but never listened to the guy, though now I know. Wow! Wow! Wow!!!
♦He plays with the same feelings I feel (stretching out his hands, etc.)♦
Also, he does not 'yawn' as the reactor says-no, he's 'delighted'-and rightly so!
Yngwie is a master and a big influence for many of todays metal guitarists. He is born in the magical year of 1963 (same as me) and he turns 60 this summer. I've seen him several times.
Have you ever met him in person? is he as snobby as people say?
@@rykehuss3435 I have not met him in person, but I think that most of these celebrities are OK if You are alone with them. Yngwie has alwasy had this rock n roll attitude in public, but I have also seen him in social events being really nice.
He practically started the heavily swept solos and sweeping arpeggios
What rock have you been under? This guy is one of the top guitarists ever…. His unique style speed and overall musicianship has made him one of the best ever
If you've been listening since the 80's like I have you know who he is. After 80's metal took the hit in the 90's a lot of the great guitarist ceased being heard from, and since he's from a younger generation he has NO idea who Yngwie is. I'm just happy he's widened his musical tastes to older stuff.
God level... love him or hate him... you have to respect this guy.. you can't get any better than this..
Michael, I am so pleased you got introduced to Yngwie Malmsteen. He is a rare treasure of gifted talent. I was jamming to him back in the mid 80's.. he never disappoints~!!
Malmsteen is absolutely unreal to see live… my husband and I have seen him 5 times and he puts you in a freaking trance.
I wasn't so lucky! 3 concerts of him i, ve been i saw terrible sound, fights with band members on stage, hired band that had no a clue were they were playing..... Every time a different band!! The last one was a kind of karaoke singer!!!
@@edmarmatos4044 *?*
Everyone who thinks Yngwie doesn't play with any feeling should watch this live.
In my opinion, this performance (Live at Budokan 1994) is the best version of 'Black Star' ever. I wish this one was the album version.
The album version is great too, to be fair. The whole album is, goddamn what a guitar album
This in my opinion by far his most impressive liveperformance , I’ve ever seen! I noticed him already in Sweden with Rising Force! Before his US move!! This is great , he really looks like hes in love with the guitar !! Look his eyes at the picture to This clip! Co… eyes big time, but What feeling he’s got here ! Best intro to Black Star ever!!🤘🤘🤘
@@patrickadolfsson4784 - 💯👍😎
Watch Jason Becker cover it 😮
I’ve seen him live several times and he don’t disappoint.🍻
A guitar player who doesn't know who YJM is, isn't a real guitar player 🙄
Bingo.
Saw him open for ACDC in 1985 in Wichita Ks.... Wowzers... He is his own. No major hits. No "Popular songs".. he is an Artist... He is his own... He is YNGWIE........
Yngwie Malmteen is the greatest guitarist ever to have set foot on the earth.
Yes. There is Yngwie, and there is Kate Bush. The best - Totally different but... same.
@@tiinaeeros2273 Married to the President Bush?
He does have songs with vocals, in fact he is very much still alive! Lol
Oh wow actually!? 🤯 I gotta see that!
@@michaelwduffy he usually has Lead Singers to do the main vocals and he sings backing vocals, he also has recorded with a full orchestra and solo electric guitar!
I saw Yngwie (pronounced Ing Vay) only a few weeks ago on 1st November, and my, what a show!! I was standing watching him absolutely star struck, mesmerised, big smile on my face...he is such a talented guitarist, if you ever get the chance go and see him live, you won't regret it.
Yngwie is one of the top 6 guitarists to ever live
Top 3
top 1@@meta785
@@MisterCactus777 Top 1 if you love shredding. But in terms of technical skill, he is not top 10. People often dont even know of the monsters that exist in the classical guitar world. Like Tommy Emmanuel, Richard Smith, John Smith, John Williams, Chet Atkins, Paco de Lucia, Andres Segovia, Agustin Barrios, Julian Bream etc. All of them would absolutely destroy Malmsteen. And I love shredding, I love Malmsteen, Becker, Friedman, Gilbert, Vai etc
First, Thank You. Yes, he is still around. He jumped on the scene in 1985 with the cover of Guitar Player Mag. (where I found him). Rising Force, Yngwies first solo album, where Black Star was recorded, is one of the best neo-classical metal albums of all time and set the standard. Yngwie came from Sweeden to the states with a band called Steeler and then Alcatrazz. (Ironically replaced in Alcatrazz with Steve Via). He has primarily toured as a solo act but has also played with the likes of Steve Vai and Zakk Wylde in Generation Axe in the mid-2010s. One note, Yngwie plays with a scalloped fretboard. One of the only players out there that come to memory to do so. Scalloped frets are when you create a divot between the fret bars so that when you play a note, the string only touches the metal on metal. He also uses the tallest frets you can. This gives him a lot of his unique clarity and tone.
More Ynqwie, ruclips.net/video/Yni9Qu76UyA/видео.html (Far Beyond the Sun w/Japanese philharmonic orchestra)
I told you that he was good. Your next assignment. Zakk Wylde was the lead guitar player for Ozzy and with his own band Black Lable Society.
Zakk Wylde w/Les Paul Trio ruclips.net/video/s1OGQQk5HpM/видео.html Voodoo Child
FYI I am going to bug you for these two as well, so you should give in. I have a lot of guitar work to lead you to.
He started out in steeler in 83 and played with alcatrazz in 84-85 though so he was around before 85
He played with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai in their band G3.
@@jimsteinmanfan80 Yes, he did. Joe Sat was my guitar teacher back in 83 in Berkeley at Larson Guitars on MLK. I remember the first time I met him; this was before surfing, and to look at the guy, I thought he was a grateful deadhead. The first thing he played was "Over the Mountain," and my eyes popped out of my head. The biggest regret of my life was not sticking with it. I still play every day, but little did I know I had the same teacher as Kirk Hammett and Steve Vai. BTW went to SFSU with Kirk, and did not have any classes, but I was an engineering student when he was getting his degree. Saw him on campus a few times.
Plus he has a wicked vibrato and intonation.
@@mikaelbiilmann6826 I will see Yngwie in Sacramento at the Ace of Spades in the middle of the month. It's a small venue, and it is going to be epic. Like playing in your living room. But really frickin loud. Just saw Wolf Van Halen and Mammoth, this weekend in the same location. So excellent.
Krakatau is one of his best electric instrumentals in my opinion.
No doubt
💥🌋
He indeed sings on some of his songs.
I love Yngwie,we need to add that he's also a showman is so nice to watch him playing.
The smoke comes from Malmsteen’s fretboard! 🎸🔥🔥🔥
Great video! Van Halen 1 and Malmsteen’s Rising Force are the 2 albums that had the biggest impact on 80’s Hard Rock/Metal guitar.
I remember this, he was performing along side Joe satriani and Steve vai
Yngwie has a very good sense of humor and showmanship. He knows he is THAT good and plays with it a lot like Roy Clark used to do with all the instruments he played.
It all boils down to Yngwie and Satriani.
He is the man.
He is the master.
He is Metal....rock and roll.
I remember the first time seeing him in the late 80s at Long Beach Arena. He headlined in this huge venue and was sold out.
We had had an awesome time. All of my friends and girlfriends made sure to bring binoculars to just try and appreciate the speed of his finger work.
Also, there were walls of Marshall stacks.
This was one of the loudest shows that I've been too as well.
Unbelievable show and a ridiculous metal man. He is one of the all time greats.
He’s crazy talented
He is just freaking awesome.
The smoke is because Yngwie brings ALL the smoke. It's the guitar necks that catch on fire because of his blistering speed and licks.
The teeth are gonna be fine. Steel is not as hard as tooth enamel. No need for vocals. Instrumentals sound better to my ears.
Impressive, he's really AMAZING. Thank you bro 👍👍👍👍
Known as Hellmanns east of the rockies. Best Foods west of the rockies.
Yngwie malmsteen go and listen to levitian bu malmsteen You wiil be shocked!! Trust me ❤️
Is very good einstein
Yngwie who?
Yngwie fucking Malmsteen thats who
I got to shake hands with Yngwie before a concert in KC and sat in front row
He made it a point to come over and talk to me despite his security telling him to get in the car
One of a kind legend❤
A pioneer of what came to be called shred guitar playing
Knowing ING VAY for years, and waiting for you to lose your shit once he swings the ax over his shoulder is priceless. 🤣
The guy can ply but I prefer a Gilmore style. Less is more .
Michael have a listen to Frank Gambale,Matteo Mancuso,Steve Morse,Alan Holdsworth,Eric Johnson,Guthrie Govan all on youtube, these guys are at the same standard as Yngwie.
I seen Yngwie at the Toy Tiger in Louisville Ky in 1984.He played Black Star perfect on acoustic and electric. After the concert He asked me onto his bus and gave me a autographed picture and a pick signed to me. I was an Ironworker and stranded in Boston when my van broke down and gave the autographed picture to a fellow Ironworker to hold on for me. I lost contact with my friend and Yngwie's signed autographed. Yngwie was no doubt the best guitarist I've ever seen. Truly Great !
Hellman's Mayo, get that shizzle in the frizzle. Doesn't keep well at room temperature.
Very interesting 🎸🔥, nice video
Thanks Steve!!!
I've seen him several times in the 80s & 90s.. the best guitarist ever!!! Next to EVH !!
...... But he don't like doughnuts....
The neck on the guitar is scalloped as well. The number of people who can play that…
“I don’t eat donuts 🍩 “
"I don't like fooking donuts!"
Yngwie to Pantera 😂
That is the utter majesty of Yngwie (ing-vay) right there.
Yes!
Malmsteen é fantástico! Chato pra cacete, mas um gênio da guitarra. Black Star é uma pintura...
He sings quite well too, just seach for "malmsteen singing"
When "Ing-Vay" had a singer, the best was Jeff Scott Soto during his Rising Force era... hands down!
Hey man....WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THE MAYO ON THE COUCH???? It freakin' DISTURBS ME😂
Watch his performance with the Japanese Philharmonic Orchestra... breathtaking.
My favorite song by him is Crystal Ball. But if you think Malsteen is getting overly friendly with that guitar, you should check out Tender Surrender by Steve Vai, that guitar gets violated.
Yeaaaaaa! I totally love BLACK STAR!
.. And the classical acoustic guitar it's just the intro piece... 😂😂😂🎸🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🎶😓😓🎶❤️👍
a girl named tina s played arpeggios from hell.. she was 15 i think... smoked it
Neo-classical metal maestro.
Shouldn't talk that much, swanky comments intended to sound proficient just reveal actual ignorance.
Lol I’m far from proficient not trying to sound so sorry you didn’t like 🤷♂️
@@michaelwduffyyou are trying to sound proficient, and seem to be pretty shallow.
@@michaelwduffyamerican type of shallow
If you want to get your mind totally blown, check out Jeff Healey, a blind Canadian guitarist who played flat on his lap watching him would totally either inspire you, or make you want to quit seriously. He went blind at one and his "eyes you see" are prosthetics because his real ones were removed by the time he was 3
👋🇸🇪💪💀
yngwie malmsteen have vocalist and every album he make another character vocalist like joe lynn turner, mark boals, mike vesscera etc recomended like an angel or save our love
min. 2:21 ... Air - Johann Sebastian Bach 1685-1750 ...
Yingvay Molmstien is how you say his name.
Uhhh... by the way, there is mayonnaise behind you
Who the hell is Michael Duffy ????🤦🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
not his best work...watching steve howe play Clap is a gazillion times more impressive...
I've had the privilege to shake malmsteens hand. Very thick fingers. His fingers are double in size compared to mine. Met him at guitar center in VA beach
If you like Black Star, then check out DAVID T. CHASTAIN - Excursions Into Reality from his Within the Heat album.
🎸🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yngvie Malmsteen’s Rising Force was huge in the 80s.
Allow me to assist you. First of all, you pronounce his name as, INGVAY MALMSTEEN. Second, he is from, Sweden. Virtuoso isn't a big enough word to describe him.
I'm happy you found him. My brother is also a Guitarist.
Type in ALL THINGS SEVERE. My brother David is a Monster.
Peace
That video is about 20 years old now.
The song Black Star is an instrumental.
Steeler and Alcatraz before going solo... I'm 60 and have been listening to him for what seems like forever
Next try this:
Al di Meola, Paco de Lucia and John McLaughlin - Mediterranean Sundance from the album Friday Night in San Fransisco. The live I mean is from 1981. Picture quality is horrible... but you'll get the drift.
I'm sure that many others have made comments answering your questions so I will only say this. He came of age in the early 80s. I discovered him first time at a live show in NYC in the mid 80s. I was a kid that grew up on Led Zeppelin being my favorite band, thus Jimmy Page being my favorite guitarist ... replaced by EVH in the late 70s... Once I saw Yngwie LIVE ... NOBODY has ever pushed him off my mantle... and I've seen and heard many awesome guitarists.
That being said... he still plays LIVE and still records ... You have to go check out his catalog and then for heaven's sake. Go see him live. Over 40 years of shredding and kicking ass.
Yngwie from my neighbour country Sweden, had Jimmi Hendrix guitar on the cover of his 1st album in '84 : Rising Force. He uses it here live. The totally white Fender stratocaster, used at Woodstock festival. The added J in his name is a tribute to Jimmi (Hendrix)
He was 24 on his debut album
Nah. You never listened to Yngwie? He's the best Bach/Vivaldi/Paganini alumni out there.
Love Vinnie Moore’s April Sky
Dude, under what rock have you been living... Never heard of Malmsteen??? He invented the combination of showmanship and great technique! I was lucky to see him play live in the 80's
"Classical Guitar"? You missed the plectrum. In Yngwies own words: "I can't play classical guitar. I can play on a classical guitar."
You want a top level guitarist who is also an even crazier vocalist? TOMMY JOHANSSON from Sabaton! You'll find him on RUclips making covers of all and everything
Never heard of him… hahaha!!! What guitar player hasn’t heard of him? Alive and well in Miami Shores.
This is no random guy.
This is the best rock guitar player ever! A complete legend and the Paganini of our time!
Just for everyone who have problems with Malmsteens first name, 🙄😁. I realize it can be a bit of confusion according to his”stage name” Yngwie… ?🤔🙄😁. It’s supposed to be pronounced Yng ( ing, but with Y instead of i! ) like in all end-ings, wie = wee! So Ing-wee is the most right pronouncing ! Not Yng vay!( it’s a W.) This comes from one of his original first names! YNGVE! Which is a Swedish mans name , not very common& not very popular as it is kind of a Old mans name! But all of the old have been young! So I guess it was more common in the 50:ies & 60:ies? So to all you Ing- wee fans! Unleash the fokkin FURY!🤘😂😁😝🤘
As of this time, this video is 11 months old. I am amazed you hadn't heard of Malmsteen, but OK it happens [but I'm still amazed]. Welcome to the Dark Side.
Playing guitar with the teeth was done by Jimmy Hendrix in the 60’s and you have Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and Ritchie Blackmore. With all this talent you have to go big or go home. You’ll have a wild ride checking out the all the players. Then you’ll have to look at Stevie Ray Vaughan! And did I mention Joe Perry, Edward VanHalen then Randy Rhoads. So much talent so little time! have fun and keep making videos!!!!!🙂
Yngwie is one of the greatist of all time. You should check out Trilogy Suite Op: 5. One of the most impressive things I've ever heard.
At the time he had let himself go and really put on some weight but it didn't affect his guitar playing.
That was fun. Now treat yourself to some Hellmann's Mayo.
He is a Rock Star level GOD. F.. Malmstein.
Yngwie is good but boring after a few minutes nowadays , Jason Becker was a lot better and I mean another level but sadly got ALS and now is paralysed 😢
He’s still alive and still a douche 😂. I love Yngwie though.
Dude, are you serious? You don’t know who Ingle is
Malmsteen is one of the great we’ve listened to since well 70s and 80s 80s 80s.
I’m driving a truck to Calgary and I’m listening to this but I used to play this guy stuff just for warm-ups back in Ontario and it’s ironic that the new generation like yourself is listening to him for the first time and going. Oh my God this guy is amazing. Who is he? Lol it’s Milstein man, he Roxy kick ass. If it wasn’t for him there’s a lot of people that wouldn’t be playing nowadays.
I wish you knew the feeling when your fingers are warmed up! It's the best feeling in the world! (I'm a classical pianist.) It may take 4 hours to get there, but it's worth all of it!
😂 I was expecting you to have an Irish not American accent as Duffy is like the most Irish surname ever dude 😎👍
Ing-way is my idol genius of new heaver metal neoclassicc !!
My first concert ever at sixteen was yngwie at the Ritz in corpus Christi Texas standing room only awesome
Final Assault and Talas opened up for Yngwie at that show!
