Brings back memories, I worked for the commonwealth railways in the 1960's and spent months at a time in the middle of nowhere, Tarcoola kingoonya Pimba and other places I cant remember the names of. I was a 17 year old Pom and the heat in the summer compared to an English summer is unbelievable.
for all international viewers, this train, run by Great Southern Railway, is called the "Indian Pacific". This train, runs from Perth, Western Australia, right across the bottom part of our vast country to Sydney, New South Wales. It is the trip of a lifetime, and one that will be remembered forever. I have done this trip myself, in first class and I will never forget it. The name of the train, Indian Pacific is derived from the names of the coastlines that are on either side of our country.
... here in Perth, our ocean is the Indian Ocean. In Sydney, on the eastern side of our country, their ocean is the Pacific Ocean. The train does go to Adelaide, South Australia, which is about 2500 kilometres by road, from here in Perth. Adelaide is the only city that the Indian Pacific stops at en route between Perth and Sydney. I hope that helps!
Nice shots mate. I used to put my truck on the train many years ago from Kalgoorlie to Pt Augusta and got to ride in the cab every trip. Love those EMD V16s! They used to be 2 man crews then with a guards van at the back. Is it still 2 men up front or is it 1 man like Pilbara Rail?
Nice view. I took the Indian-Pacific both ways in 1988 but had to settle for looking out a side window. Like to see more video of Oz but wouldn't want to live there. Too many poisonous critters!
How do the residents of the outback earn a living? Where do they buy groceries? Where are the stores and restaurants? Also, how many cops patrol this area? Why does the video not show the housing developments and factories and power generating plants? It only shows the desert.
Now imagine a AGV or ICE 3 going at 300Km/h that's what Australia needs after the communications cable upgrades to Fibre Optic. Links from Cairns to Melbourne Via Brisbane Sydney Canberra then from their going to Adeliade then Perth then a Link going through the centre from Brisbane and Sydney stopping at Alice then splitting to Darwin and Perth =)
I think if you as a driver on this line drive that you are also fed up straight after that especially if the four hundred and seventy-seven kilometers in length.
Everyone in Australia should do this trip at least once in their lives!😁🏗️🎟️📢🛄🇦🇺

Well done boys, you have got even less than us truckies to look at! Less gauges and no idiots in caravans!! Tough job keeping awake there!

Request full nonstop journey with front camera on top of locomotive, it will be amazing things

Yes we still have 2 men in the loco and 2 resting in the crew car behind the locos change over every 8 hours Adelaide to Perth and back.

The outback isn't just a single desert...there are many areas where you can have livestock raising, mining, tourism, etc.
It is the main line across Australia fromAdelaide to Perth.

Cool. Was it on an SCT service? The G's always used to run them. Now they are mostly hired out to other operators by SCT.
the max. speed is 110km/h, we can maintain that speed most of the time(no hills for about 800km) as long we dont get any cross winds
Doesn't the driver have to get up every 5 minutes to switch off an alarm to stop him falling asleep?. If they don't, the train automatically stops.
Every 30 Seconds. That's gonna be boooring there.
I'd probably go like 100 mph in a straight line, but i'd imagine that's hard on things
Awesome video, what loco is that?

@Hotrodx199 - Particulrly hard when the heat buckles the lines and the trains derail. Imging a 100mph derail.
That's why speed restrictions take effect at certain temperatures.
@COUNTESSVAMPMORGAIN Only one person lives at Tracoola now and at Cook there are 3 people who live there !!!!!
@sallymaggiespotty The vid only shows desert because that is all that is out there.
The Loco is one of the old G class from Vic.
G class can?
This video is as old as me!? 🎊
wear does the line come from wear does it go to
