If anyone is wondering why people created these. The Colombian government disrupted passenger trains in the early 90’s due to a large number of exportation deals. The only trains still in use in the country export enormous amounts of coal. While many towns were build around the former train networks, not a single passenger train line exists anymore. Many towns were left disconnected from society as they had no highways or connecting roads. Thus people built these out of pure necessity for survival. At the same time, an enormous wave of displacement was caused in a country that is known for having the highest number of displaced people on the planet. Check out the documentary ‘Replaced: Between the lines’ on youtube which explains a lot of this.
Am still not clear about the railways. You say originally there was passenger rail service. And this service was displaced by freight trains? Freight service was also ended as clearly the tracks are no longer tended. Colombia no longer has any goods to export?
Many goods are still being exported but the only railroads still in use are those that run from mines and oil sources to export harbours. The connections to smaller towns ended up like this, when there was no other road in between.

ive been following these type machines in cambodia , the philippines and other places . i love it. thanks for showing the construction methods , also, @ 3:39, what kind of bering is being used ? thanks
a very noisy bearing sounds like they don't use lube. Or the wheel is so small it slings the lube out. If they use the outer race as the wheel, that would explain the noisy bearing. The race is not made for that load.
I think you can use small car's hub and bare rim for wheels and guide on the tracks. Just add rubber cut from tire at contact points on tracks to eliminate noise issues. Find the strong glue for the rubber.
Do you know the history of this rail line? I assume that this line is no longer used by conventional railroad equipment. Certainly an economical operation; no locomotives or rolling stock. Quite interesting.😎😀

The average price for a new car in America last year was $46,000+. Looking at these makes me think we are spending way, way, WAY too much for our personal transportation. ☮
@@lmeza1983 Those things almost always lose TONS of money. And virtually no one is going to want to give up their personal transportation to be sardined into a subway/bus. There is no real reason that small, cheap EV's (under $15-20K) cannot take over for $40+K cars/SUV's. Just ban, personal ICE-vehicles inside city limits and a huge market for cheap EV's will pop up. ☮

ive been following these type machines in cambodia , the philippines and other places . i love it. thanks for showing the construction methods , also, @ 3:39, what kind of bering is being used ? thanks
Just a large roller bearing, which apparently doubles as the wheel too.
a very noisy bearing sounds like they don't use lube.
If that's the case maybe they learn it from Watching the other places wich is good it worked for them
It's a good example for group of People /community opening a new door to the eyes of the world..
Amazing. This is very beaultiful. Very creative. My respects from Brazil.

Great stuff👍 can’t imagine the wear and tear on those bikes though.
Engine may not work after 3yrs . . .
Ojalá acá pudiéramos usar las vías así.pues se están desperdiciando.abandonadas y ya robándose los rieles.que ingenios.saludos desde Huixquilucan mex.
Do you know the history of this rail line? I assume that this line is no longer used by conventional railroad equipment. Certainly an economical operation; no locomotives or rolling stock. Quite interesting.😎😀
Was built an used by the cartel
I can only imagine the experience, knowledge, and wisdom to keep those old motorcycles running.
Wow - brilliant! Great camera work too - thanks from the flats of Canada 💞
Legend has it that he then made a helicopter out of a lawn mower.
Gosto destas coisas. Uma ideia tão útil que aprimorada, ajudaria muita gente de maneira bem ampla .
What an ingenious way to travel on rail tracks, but looks quite dangerous
Only if there's anything else faster of comming up from the front
The tracks are propbly abandoned fruit company supply tracks.
The most exciting and creative project , amazing thank you for sharing such great work 👍

This man made hi rail gear for a motorcycle what a legend
That was cleverly done but dangerous as he doesn’t know when the train schedule unless the railway has been abandoned completely.
Those tracks are abandoned
If they are abandoned, it means they are not serviced. Sleepers rot and rails collapse.
Don't think the health and safety bullshit industry has hit this country yet

Great Engineering & Innovation, and lots of fun to ride !
Brilliant vehicle! I admire these people for their imagination and their ability to implement such designs with very limited resources. Is it possible that such people laugh more and are happier with their lives than we, who are supposedly so well-educated and clever, people from industrialized countries? Edit: Abbo

sério???
The average price for a new car in America last year was $46,000+.
Looking at these makes me think we are spending way, way, WAY too much for our personal transportation.
☮
uhm, you're right in someway, but then i have to think how much it is different between the life in US and Comlombia, too.
@@mickeycao148 My point was do we really HAVE to spent $46,000 each just to get around cities/suburbs?
Of course, we don't.
☮
Cars and gas are stupidy expensive nowadays, cities need more railroads and subways not cars.
☮
Just think about 90 years ago how the average automobile got you from one point to another at 35 mph.
The richer people got the higher end automobiles and they were faster with more creature comforts but we got cars that will do over 200 on the road today and people cant drive the speed limit as it is.
