While his voice is aged and weakened, Bono gives us a raw and heartfelt performance...the rest of the band sounds as good as ever, especially the guitar tone of the Edge - completely and totally fucking epic. I love this version - the entire concert at Slane Castle is so beautiful. And, to think, Bono buried his father just a few days before this show...what strength and courage. I know his father was looking down with pride and everlasting love for his son...

I thought U2 was a stuck up mainstream band, then I decided to give them a shot... after a few songs i began to witness alot of emotion and the quiet underlying keltic theme, and unlike alot of other bands out there today they stay true to what they do. They instantly became a big part of my day.

@Hallucination Songs that Glorify God come in all different styles and formats...........U2 were lucky enough to figure out how to use a style that appealed to the non-believers of the world. How Bono has kept this from the Media all these years is beyond me. Just last year I attended a Live Satellite feed where hundreds of Christian Churches were linked up with all over the world......the guest speaker, BONO. He delivered a very strong message to the church.
At the end of this song where the band just stay on stage reminds me of the time I saw U2 on the Joshua Tree tour. It was first night of two shows in Houston and the lights had come up and the band went off the stage and everyone was filing out thinking it was over. Then all of a sudden the lights went back down and the band came back out and played Trip Through Your Wires and Southern Man. A great night.
I just love this song so much.... And I love it doubly much because it somehow became one of the couple of songs I listened to on repeat when I went overseas last year, so now it has all those memories attached to it.... :')

No, he only used an ebow during the tail end of the Zoo TV tour because he used a Les Paul for this song due to the convenience of the preceeding song Lemon which segued into WOWY and the next song Love Is Blindness were also played on the Les Paul. The sustainer was originally part of the infinite guitar that Edge used on the original recording of the song as well as on tours up until the end of Zoo TV. The sustainer is some sought of driver which loops the pups or something, making sustain.

He actually never said he can't sing in the same way as he did before. He says his voice is better and "bigger" than before. He only has trouble with it when he has a lot of speaking engagements before a performance. It's what he said in the U2 autobiography...
