Spot on
👍
It's effing awesome.......my favourite song of all time!!!!!
SOOO wahr :-)
it must be such a blessing for 4 friends to start a band at a young age, remain friends their entire lives, and produce the most magical music together. I can't even imagine the bond they must have.
Yes - I am so glad they haven’t had petty fallings out and public splits like many others. Funny how I was only thinking this the other day. They have been my musical core since I was 15 with ‘war’ and have been part of my whole life and now I’m in my 50’s. What joy they have given and what a life they have lived.
That's a blessing! They understand each other.

I read something a while ago when they finish a tour they go off and do there own and not talk to each other for months which is how they work so well together
What a great song, I love it! I put it into my "Shellshocked Radio - Recommendations" List: ruclips.net/video/Y2TN1N1FhIo/видео.html Very well done!
I first heard this song in 1987, when I was a fifteen-year-old schoolboy. I was living at that time in a provincial Soviet village behind the Iron Curtain, and only Saint Santa knows how the cassette with U2 songs got into my remote place. It was this song that settled in my heart from the first chords and it seems like it will forever. I would like to wish everyone reading my comment a Happy New Year! May the new year bring less evil and more good. Peaceful skies above everyone.
U2, thank you for this song! Thank you for the 36 years that I lived with your music.❤
Happy New Year!

@@paddydalton2373 You are right, my friend. RUclips and the Internet have erased the boundaries between people from different countries. 57 year old man who has been singing for 40 years...of course his voice has aged. Time waits for no man sadly. Still great
London5369 you're right that is a very great thing :)
I love your choice of words...
It instills wisdom and understanding in those who are inexperienced immature and speculating wrongly all the time ..
True, but it's still a little bittersweet because it feels like they were a band that avoided the march of time for longer than most of their peers, but it all seems to have really caught up with them in the last couple years. That's not a knock, just an observation.
Robert Smith of the Cure celebrated 40 years in the band this year, is 59 and sounds the same now as he did at his peak in the 80's. But one thing I will say about Bono - dude still gives me chills when he sings. His voice has aged, but his passion remains. And the band is tight.
Dreadful, If you can't sing it dont play it.
It's easy to hear these songs as overplayed. I like to pretend I'm an alien visiting for the first time or seeing them as friends performing at a high school talent show. And in that light, these things become unbearably fresh and fantastic. What a gem
Bono’s vocal is just so achingly beautiful. Like all great albums ‘the Joshua tree’ still sound so fresh after all these years. A staggering piece of work and for me they’ve never got close to it since.
Certainly one of my all time favourite albums
The best album to have come out of the 1980s.
It doesn't matter when you hear this music, whether it's 20, 10, 5 years ago or today (2023) it's and will always be GREAT! 🙏🙏🙏👏👏👏

I still hear my late son's voice through every single word used in this song. How I remember getting into his vehicle the morning he died, and the CD in the player went straight to this song. Deep song, for deep people, not many will know what went through the mind of the writer of the lyrics. But Bono did an unsurpassed genius of a performance. Thank you Bono, I will be forever grateful for this memory.

no screaming fans, no fancy lights, no big stadium- just an old fashioned, old time rock roll band playing with beautiful grace, passion and compassion.
But if they want it, they can fill a stadium giving a tremendous performance with all the ligths an a incredible sound!!

When I first saw this band live in Wembley for the Live Aid concert in 1985. Live they were bloody brilliant even thou Bono didn’t sing everything he should have. I’ve managed to see them live a few times & they Never fail. Cracking music. Thank you U2 for the songs, memories. ❤❤
Say what you want about the band, but this is one of the most timeless songs. It transcends genre, era, culture, race, politics, nation. I’m convinced if this songs were released today it would hit the top of the charts. You can’t say that about most classics.

Muito top curto essa música a anos e não me canso de ouvir quase todos os dias
the bass is like a soothing smooth cream, Eargasm
See the stone set in your eyes
See the thorn twist in your side
I'll wait for you
Sleight of hand and twist of fate
On a bed of nails, she makes me wait
And I wait without you
With or without you
With or without you
Through the storm, we reach the shore
You give it all but I want more
And I'm waiting for you
With or without you
With or without you, ah, ah
I can't live
With or without you
And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give
And you give
And you give yourself away
My hands are tied
My body bruised, she got me with
Nothing to win and
Nothing left to lose
And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give
And you give
And you give yourself away
With or without you
With or without you, oh
I can't live
With or without you

Adam Clayton doesn’t get enough credit for his part in this song. The bass is sensational.
In fact one could say the four performers are at the height of their talents here.

Man, this was back when music was still magic. Don't get me wrong there's still some talented people out there, GOOD music is hard to make. I grew up in the 2000's and I am glad I got to listen to songs like these through my parents. Music back than was something else. No music nowadays makes me feel this way. No songs about money, living the RICH life, no autotune. Just pure talent and love.
Yeahh
You've been listening to the wrong music my friend. Money and autotune? What are you listening to pop radio looking for good music?
Music is not dead, promising new bands are on the rise, but since old bands aren’t dead the torch hasn’t been passed down. McCartney after all is still a fucking undying god. And thats okey, but music wont die, it never can
@@luquivarde7266
Yes it can , and it's dying as we speak .
SOCIETY is LOSING it's SOUL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just about sums it all up. I'm not against autotune, but it is like overused. Making every other songs sounds very similar. I think it is this that make music boring. When a Chinese guy singing in Mandarin that sounds like (very similar to) an American singer singing in English, you'll know there must be something wrong there ... just my two cents.
These songs are so timeless that we sometimes forget that they're 30 and almost 40 years old. Talk about a sign of a legendary band.
Drummer……GREAT and keeps its going!
Love this song brings back memories from the past ❤
How after singing this 435,987 times, does he make it sound like the first time? Every time. U2 has managed to remain young while growing old.
Brilliant aren't they? And I don't think they get the recognition they truly deserve, particularly in the songwriting department. Their work is just so prolific.....more hits than the Beatles too who i loved until U2 came along!)
It’s the soul singing and not the body
Bono has stated that he has a close relationship with God. He’s just a human being, a man from Ireland. Because he has a relationship with God the Father, he has the ability to put forth the purest form of LOVE. God’s LOVE for us. When we listen...to Bono’s voice & U2’s music the soundwaves travel through our ears and straight into our brain, synapses, and it becomes part of us. Feels good to get pure LOVE straight from the tap (the source)
I’ve never met U2 personally but have been a lifelong fan, I’m only 41. Seen them live 5 times. They are a part of my life as I know it, part of me. 😊
What’s really amazing is that he makes it sound like the first time for the listener.

Huge U2 fan here, unfortunately and objectively speaking, Bono lost a step especially towards the end. Rock stars like Jon Bon Jovi, U2, Meatloaf, GnR are my heroes growing up, and it is sad to see all people around are getting old, and no longer able to sing the songs they are known for. Thank you for all the memories. These songs will live forever in our hearts, and live long after we are all gone, as long as we hand them down to the next generation, these songs will be immortal.

I was just thinking to write that kind of comment. My would sound like that. Not any single band in planet is on scene over 35 years. Songs are legendary and they simply can´t die. We all know some singers are one night star, and then they disappear. Not U2 and even our kids are growing up with them. Special with With or without you, One love, Where the streets have no name, etc. All these songs gives us so many personal memories too, not only as U2´s songs.
