Totally reasonable response. I would say the iPhone was simply recording at a lower gain level to reduce quality loss. Fair and well balanced comparison, Casey. I did notice however that there was a smidge more camera shake on some of the iPhone shots, was that the focus as mentioned at the start of the video?

The main thing I took away from this: *you have a 4k camera in your phone.* No more excuses. Phone cameras are INCREDIBLE and you can make some kickass videos with it. Get creating everybody.
My 3 year old samsung has 4k. But it's not that good. Both the phones in this video have way better quality definitely than mine. It's kind of like when I use my gopro 4 black. It is somewhat disappointing 4k. But I do prefer a dslr just because it gives me a good feeling to use it.
Why not? Hell you even got point and shoots that are 4k. But still doesn't mean they're good. Cell phones are ok, And are alright if you can't afford a camera. But it's stupid when people think phones are on levels of say a DSLR.

Yeah, it seemed that there were some issues with it trying to correct for changing lighting conditions too often. That can be fixed in software though, so hopefully that'll be a non-issue.

David Macchia audio on the note was very noisy and picked up virtually everything. Not really all that great. Especially if your out filming in the city
So true, the audio on the X was muffled and had very little clarity to it. That coupled with the inaccurate colors made for a sub-par (but still decent) result. Apple really needs to step their game up.
This is Samsungs best vs apples best. Plus iphone x hasnt been out for a year, its only like 9 months. And in that time Samsung has beaten it twice in both performance and value. Apple is currently unable to keep up.
iPhones just are not worth the price. Apple knows that people will buy the new iPhone regardless because it's the thing to have, apparently. Very little changes with iPhones the performance doesn't change very much. I'm pretty sure the iPhone X was compared with a 2015 Android phone. Just a slim new look to catch peoples attention and fancy new emojis... like who gives a crap about fancy emojis when buying a new phone. iPhone are more complicated phones to use, although not hard to use it's just unnecessary compared to android. iTunes sucks and the whole having to sync your phone all of the time is just a waste of time, it's so unnecessary. I have an iPhone X but I got to admit the Samsung looked much better than the iPhone in 95% of the clips and the Samsung’s audio was much better than the iPhone’s in all cases. Nice vid Casey 👍
Seems like Apple still records audio in mono only? I have crisp stereo audio recording on my old Note 3. Still a killer, and records 4K. Note 3 is from 2013 and still absolute mint. Can anyone confirm the mono sound on Apple iPhone X?
Clear winner Samsung... but the front facing camera differences are tremendous ... the Samsung’s quality is leaps and bounds better with the FF camera.

Hey Casey! Suggestion for these comparisons.. why don’t you label the footage as A and B, then in the description and at the end reveal which is A and which is B. This way people can make a decision purely based on the footage and not on which side of Samsung v Apple they lean.

It's been this way for quite a while now. Samsung's products and quality level surpasses Apple. And even for computers, other brands are surpassing Apple now.
You should repost it with the footage sply labeled as camera 'A' and camera 'B'. Let the viewers comment which camera looked better. Reveal it 24 hours later which camera was which. Too many fanboys are just sticking to their own team. That would be an impartial experiment.

yes ,while iphone colours might seem a bit more " warm " in the right conditions to make it more natural ,msot often its exposure was way off over exposed ,its auto focus often got confused ,stability sucked ,and the auto exposure got confused a lot too and did a lot of clipping, thats why even the s9 beat tne X in DXOmark, and while note 9 is the same camera its firmware is different to improve it

I'm a apple person but if i was only looking for camera quality i would go for the samsung but i just enjoy how apple phones are set up and the features they have over samsung but the samsung phone definitely has better quality.
I think you should really look into both phones and explore what they have to offer. Android is cheaper in sale price, larger pool of apps than iOSin the app store, fast charging capabilities and wireless charging (unlike with Apple you need to purchase additional proprietary products which increases the already higher sale price vs android. not using their apple products can lead to your warranty being voided if something goes wrong). Android also allows far more customization of their phone screens vs iPhone. You can make it look exactly like your iPhone or pimp it out with even more widgets. Android has Google Maps, this video demonstrated the video and sound quality which I believe is up to personal preference unlike most the things I have pointed out this far, iCloud 5G of free space vs Google Drive 15GB free space. Just a few features of the Android for you to think about as it sounds like your opinion is pretty heavily on the iPhone side. I still swear by using my iPad Pro, Macbook Pro and Mac desktop for work and personal use everyday. I just broke up with my iPhone.

A good review would be using the new iPhone that is coming out soon. This note nine is like -1 week old comparing to a phone released a fair time ago in phone standards. It is a biased comparison because one phone is that much newer. No disrespect to Casey for doing it seeing as he is sponsored by samsung (noticed he had the rig ready when the iPhone X was brand new but waited until samsung was on the front door)

I think the iPhone shooting at 4K 60fps for an unlimited time is something to consider, I thing galaxy does better in this comparison video however, and I may be wrong but galaxy only allows 5 min of 4K 60fps recording
Don't let Casey's propaganda fool you. He is paid by Samsung for this video, so obviously he is going to do what he can to make their phone look far superior. The iPhone X looked way worse than it actually does, and if you noticed in the beginning, it is cracked on the back. He probably smudged the camera lense or something as well. Just remember how bad video quality is on snapchats and instagram live videos from Android phones...
Stagger Lee nice blanket statement. There are hundreds of different phone models with Android OS from a dozen different manufacturers in wildly different price categories. You can't just group all Android phones together? That's like grouping all pc's together if they run windows letting go of the fact that there are a million different configurations of pc's out there.
i don't recommend upgrading... it's still a really good phone - i still have my Galaxy S3 and i installed Cyanogenmod with Android Nougat and it's really good and fast.... way better than KitKat
he wasnt shooting at the highest fps for the iphone X... 60fps makes the video quality crispy tbh. also it seemed like his iphone x was damaged in someway shape or form ( cracks on back glass) so that audio quality also was shit because of that tbh. and if u want an iphone just wait till september. the iphone event is just around the corner. same for google pixel (event soon)
Lucas Lopes how are the pixels? Yeah it seemed shaky in the first vid. I shoot in 60 FPS for that hyper realism but I know a lot of ppl enjoy that 30 FPS movie like setting. I’ve tried both and stuck with 60. I have a few vids shot on just the iPhone seven which I thought were pretty decent for what it is. Yeah September is nice but then ppl get new iPhones that you never know what’s gonna bug out with them or what problems they have

Note 9 has higher focal length and cooler tones, iPhone X has warmer tones and a lower focal length, I also noticed the Note 9 seemed to have better Dynamic range than the iPhone X and the Microphone seemed to be more clear and just better (Opinionated), stabilization of the iPhone X seemed better in most situations, but I say the Note 9 did better overall, though should be expected against a 11 month old iPhone at this point.
Hmm...I thought the stabilization of the Note was far better. Overall, yeah, the Note did much better in almost all situations except for two: the s-b-s rain shots near the end -- the Note looked sharper, but overexposed. Also, one of the first shots of the skate park (where the phones were still) was better on the iPhone -- the Note's exposure was jumping all around (don't know why). But the rest of the skate part shots looked much better on the Note.

Seems like Apple still records audio in mono only? I have crisp stereo audio recording on my old Note 3. Still a killer, and records 4K. Note 3 is from 2013 and still absolute mint.

why don’t you label the footage as A and B, then in the description and at the end reveal which is A and which is B. This way people can make a decision purely based on the footage and not on which side of Samsung v Apple they lean.

yes ,while iphone colours might seem a bit more " warm " in the right conditions to make it more natural ,msot often its exposure was way off over exposed ,its auto focus often got confused ,stability sucked ,and the auto exposure got confused a lot too and did a lot of clipping, thats why even the s9 beat tne X in DXOmark, and while note 9 is the same camera its firmware is different to improve it

I think you should really look into both phones and explore what they have to offer. Android is cheaper in sale price, larger pool of apps than iOSin the app store, fast charging capabilities and wireless charging (unlike with Apple you need to purchase additional proprietary products which increases the already higher sale price vs android. not using their apple products can lead to your warranty being voided if something goes wrong). Android also allows far more customization of their phone screens vs iPhone. You can make it look exactly like your iPhone or pimp it out with even more widgets. Android has Google Maps, this video demonstrated the video and sound quality which I believe is up to personal preference unlike most the things I have pointed out this far, iCloud 5G of free space vs Google Drive 15GB free space. Just a few features of the Android for you to think about as it sounds like your opinion is pretty heavily on the iPhone side. I still swear by using my iPad Pro, Macbook Pro and Mac desktop for work and personal use everyday. I just broke up with my iPhone.
As a mainly Android user I think for 80% of people iphones are the way to go until Android has an Imessage competitor.

A good review would be using the new iPhone that is coming out soon. This note nine is like -1 week old comparing to a phone released a fair time ago in phone standards. It is a biased comparison because one phone is that much newer. No disrespect to Casey for doing it seeing as he is sponsored by samsung (noticed he had the rig ready when the iPhone X was brand new but waited until samsung was on the front door)

Don't let Casey's propaganda fool you. He is paid by Samsung for this video, so obviously he is going to do what he can to make their phone look far superior. The iPhone X looked way worse than it actually does, and if you noticed in the beginning, it is cracked on the back. He probably smudged the camera lense or something as well. Just remember how bad video quality is on snapchats and instagram live videos from Android phones...

Note 9 has higher focal length and cooler tones, iPhone X has warmer tones and a lower focal length, I also noticed the Note 9 seemed to have better Dynamic range than the iPhone X and the Microphone seemed to be more clear and just better (Opinionated), stabilization of the iPhone X seemed better in most situations, but I say the Note 9 did better overall, though should be expected against a 11 month old iPhone at this point.

Hmm...I thought the stabilization of the Note was far better. Overall, yeah, the Note did much better in almost all situations except for two: the s-b-s rain shots near the end -- the Note looked sharper, but overexposed. Also, one of the first shots of the skate park (where the phones were still) was better on the iPhone -- the Note's exposure was jumping all around (don't know why). But the rest of the skate part shots looked much better on the Note.
Note records in stereo sound, all iPhones record in Monotone.

by far the most interesting comparison i've seen. 8:19 seems like Note 9 is trying too much to adjust lights and colors. That is something to keep in mind when mine arrives ;)
